There's nothing worse than manchilding about a modern gimmick. It's like collecting something that says "collectable" on it.
I don't mean "gimmick" like detachable controllers or something. The Switch is at least a competent handheld device meant to play games. The Game Boy was just a screen and some buttons.
The entire concept of the Playdate is being a gimmick. Unless it has the best fishing game in the world on it or the most entertaining Jack in the Box game imaginable, it's retarded.

Unless you are trying to push complex 3D geometry through it, you'd have to try really hard to exhaust the CPU/memory with 1-bit 2D art assets. I think the sky's pretty much the limit with 2D games you can make on it

At first I thought it was interesting because I thought the crank gave it power. Like if you were in the middle of nowhere without an outlet or batteries you could crank it to charge it up and play some vidya. But apparently the crank just makes your character walk around?
