What is your opinion on romance in vidya?
What is your opinion on romance in vidya?
Only necessary if it's between siblings.
Fake and gay.
Interesting.
It suck that most romance in games is completely over once you fuck the girl. There's no progress beyond banging her once.
I like it.
>Estelle/Joshua in Trails.
>Arue/PC in WotR.
>Eve/Jason in BMZ.
absolutely necessary for RPGs imo.I can't be invested in a long journey with dozens of hot chicks if none will jump in my dick at some point in the story. That's kind of pointless and quite frankly, unrealistic. It's my main criticism of Pokemon aside from the no voice acting.
My opinion is AW >>> SAO.
I hate how Yuuki was the only grill that had a cute date in Fatal Bullet
Also sex with Argo
Every game should have romance.
>tfw AW never really caught on and will never get a second season
GIGA UNRUCKY
Because the main character looks ridiculous
usually feels kinda pointless. i usually go with the sigma playthrough and tell all the skanks to fuck off, especially satisfying in witcher 3
I've never been interested in romance mechanics. Even real life romance is pretty fucking boring after you've been through a few relationships.
What do you want? Pregnancy? There is nothing after sex
Because Sunrise hates anything that doesn't relate to gundam or love live
This is the main problem
Accel World is self insert bait with a protagonist who is impossible to self insert as, even for nips. And that's saying something.
Simulated life while others live a real one
I wish more games did it like Tales of Symphonia
Argo and Leafa's voices make my dick explode
I'm not a fan of when, in RPGs, it feels forced, like you SHOULD have romanceable options, or it's just a few sentences and a blackscreen leading to spawning near a bed. But romance by itself isn't bad.
In sim type games I like marriage options even if they're basic.
Hurts me and I avoid it because I’m almost a wizard
this desu
lisbeth bros when will we win?
It should be added more often is a depth of interaction and in story, also pairing characters is fun by itself
I like romantic stories.
>marry off your mc at the very beginning of the series
>give him a harem anyway
>also make him gay
Nothing wrong with sharing the bed wit your bro.
Can never get over the fact Eugeo just looks like a Blonde Kirito
Games where I can romance foxgirls?
I feel like I would have liked Tales of Arise's romance if the peanut gallery wasn't there.
When it was just (You) and Shionne the dialogue felt natural.
Even though Dohalim was the best character
How does Tales of Symphonia do it?
Keep that shit in VNs where it belongs.
Hollow Realization was the GOAT SAO game, everyone was dripped out.
It's extremely difficult to do a better romance than simple fanservice and really rare to see something worthwhile
but when you see it, it's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen
If only there was an iota of production value outside of the vn segments
Sure. You're getting cucked.
That's it give me the sauce
That's every sao game outside of ggo though. It's par of the course.
what did they mean by this?
It was pretty funny when Agil called Kirito "Blackie" in Progressive.
Corruption of Champions 2 has arguably the best foxgirl you can romance
>tfw can't romance the merchant kitsune
The LN is still ongoing in japan with 26 volumes
I thought Hollow Fragment was superior even though it is mostly a less polished HR.
I know, I've read like the first 5 but I can't really get into them like I could with MushoTen or Overlord
She'll be fine.
The game has a very in depth affection point system that is involved throughout the game. Affects a lot of dialogue and story sequences. Small decisions affect it as well.
You eventually get to a snowy town later in the game where you can pick a character to go on a date with. After that sequence, that character has a few more romantic scenes that play with Lloyd that play out in important parts of the game. It's especially cool because there is clearly a more canon girl, who you can mostly ignore. Imagine if it was FFX but you could genuinely pick Lulu or Riku and get story scenes with them.
The bad sequel, Dawn of the New World, even gives you the option to choose who Lloyd ended up with in the previous game, so you get even more scenes with that character.
Only thing annoying with that system was you basically had to intentionally piss off Collete the entire game if you wanted some char pairings
Not a fan of it unless it's explicitly part of the plot in a meaningful way. When it's some tacked on nonsense, I find it hard to care. Haven't read a lot of VNs, or any really, so I don't have much of an opinion on it there. I figure it'd be the same.
The biggest red flag is if you get to name the character and the game has voiced dialogue, since they will without fail avoid saying your name in every instance, which honestly just unnerves me. Makes it feel like my character isn't even there despite them doing 80% of the work. Worst thing self insert games ever did.
All story games with avatars are worst games.
There is not a single good game that (narratively) benefitted from an avatar protagonist.
>ignores the existence of WRPGs
Name a WRPG that benefitted from an Avatar protagonist.
Give me a single game that was better because (You) were the main character instead of a person with actual writing.
I love Argo! I love Kansai-ben!
I liked how Baulder's Gate 1&2 did it. While the player character themself is usually a weakness in the narrative, it puts an extra burden on the other characters to elevate the story. I think it can work. I will agree that FE completely fumbled it though.
>There is not a single good game that (narratively) benefitted from an avatar protagonist.
You literally just posted a character from one
I remember reading somewhere about some old dating sim where the characters actually said your name.
Never actually looked it up but it really makes me wonder how that worked:
Did the VA's actually say the line for each possible japanese (?) common name?, did they just pronouce the various names with different tones? Or they some advanced voice synth?
I hate it because it's either garbage or makes me want to kill myself so that I can climb the ladder to the Duat and appeal to Osiris directly for ekpyrosis
>"Professor! How are you doing today?"
>Byleth waves
>haha, you're quite the character, Professor. You know, everyone relies on you so heavily. You are the backbone of our army"
>Byleth nods
>By the way, Professor, I was wondering what you think we should do about this next battle?
>Byleth hand gesture
>"Brilliant, Professor! You truly are the most important person in the world!"
This is your average conversation in 3 Houses.
I love Argo too but don't remember her having kansai-ben...
On an unrelated note, I 100%ed Lost Song despite not really liking it that much LMAO
What are some other games where cheating/trying to cheat on your gf is actually acknowledged by the game? I know pic related, Persona, and Rune Factory do it.
I know Fire Emblem romance gets a lot of flak, but I liked how in Awakening most generic lines with your chosen waifu/husbando would change to reflect the relationship after marriage, and how they got special lines for the final battle. The future kid thing also worked in the game unlike in Fates.
fine with me when the girls are cute
And that's good.
Whose voice did you imagine for this?
I chose Dimitri
CoC2 sucks for a lot of other reasons though.
It had the better storyline and the fact that it was two games pushed into one means there's a lot of content.
Good man. You're now ready for Hollow Realization which is my favorite game in the series. Argo gets a decent amount of content and all the date scenes are cute.
Are there any games that feature romance and permadeath? I know FE has supports that can get romantic but didn't they remove permadeath in the later games? Even in the earlier ones I don't remember death having an impact on the others which is really disappointing.
It's official art from one of the SAO games. I think the most recent one.
>didn't they remove permadeath in the later games
Last I checked they just made it optional.
