This MS can't really buy anyone for a while because they'll risk monopoly accusations in the current investigation.

MS hired the Tomb Raider and the Hitman studio from SE before the Activision buyout was a possibility and there were strong rumors they want to test them before they buy them. Now they can't really buy them anymore and this could have forced SE to sell everything to Embracer because the were struggling for a while now.

To be realistic, the publicly available arguments the FTC bought up so far are pretty damn weak. Contrary to popular belief MS is not allmighty in the video game business, and even combined with Activision they are still behind Sony in size. Makes you think when people cry about Microsoft and have no problem with Sony using their weight to dominate the business. The best the FTC could do if they wanted to bother MS is threatening them to make the investigation longer than it is needed. In return they might ask for a few things like MS is not removing COD from PS (at least not the current ones). MS could crush them in the court but it takes time, money and PR. Microsoft built their image in the last years and positioned this deal as a good thing because everyone expects Activision to crash without it.
