arpg is dumb genre
a rpg that is bad yea

Grim "pretty good game and better than Path of Excrement" Dawn

Would be the GOAT If it had a ladder system.

Grim Dawn, Titan Quest, Path of Exile, and Last Epoch are still better than diablow 3 and 4 when it releases.

Honestly, why dont games have ladders anymore?

Games have to appeal to normalfags above all else and normalfags don't care about ladders or leaderboards in general. Anything that directly compares them to other players that isn't just a "rank" is a no no.

Because some shit head will inevitably cheat the ladder with 9999 hours/kills/tokens or whatever the fuck you retards want to try and record for others to see.

i liked wolcen better

I like it. on the subject of arpgs, are there any good sci-fi ones?

Everything you said was right minus the PoE part
PoE isn't even a game it's a jewish marketplace map nuking simulator

Are there really no ladders? I thought I went down a few into some cellars quite a few times

I really don't understand the point of ladders in these kinds of games, is it basically just a race to see who can hit levelcap first?
I just play them to chill and grind loot

oh, you

Is wolcen even good? I remember it being bashed at launch.
There's that 40k one, I guess it's okay. I'd like to see something like Synthetik but in arpg form, with the gunplay in tact.

is last epoch endgame fun? I played to like lvl 30 and it's OK but the levels are kinda boring

well im no diablo-like connoisseur, but i enjoyed wolcen for what it was

Try playing solo self found

I'll have to disagree, I still have fun and dump a couple hundred hours each new league if i'm not caught up in some other game at the time. It fills it's own niche of arpg and would put it right along side all the other ones I mentioned. But I still haven't touched Diablo 3 since 2013 at least, absolutely a step down from Diablo 2 and most other ARPGs outside of meme shit ones like Torchlight 3.

try playing deez

I am looking forward to Diablo 4. It is going to be good fun.

does anyone else get where im coming from if i describe this sort of game as 'puppeteering'?
I enjoy rts genre cause you have a command view over the battlefield, 'command' troops to positions and attacks, and all the other stuff rts have to them
But something about games like Grim Dawn and other arpgs feel very dull in gameplay too me since im just 'commanding' a single character like a puppet, dont find it very fun and engaging

perfect game to listen to podcasts to

>last epoch OK
its dogshit

>I'd like to see something like Synthetik but in arpg form, with the gunplay in tact.
would play

Looks great and seems great but I tried playing it with friends only to find out there's a bug where you can go invisible to each other and it's never ever been fixed and the devs don't care to fix it.

Farthest Frontier fucking when?

You say that as if ladders were once common

it's in the same vein as musou games in which you either like seeing numbers go up while you cleave through hordes of enemies or you don't

It's usually a way to get to a higher or lower floor when there aren't any stairs.

I liked it otherwise but it's kind of messy. Too much loot with too much modifiers and too many proc attacks with flashy effects. Half of the time playing you lose track of your own character and which effects are your own and which are from enemies.

I enjoyed Grim Dawn
I enjoyed Titan Quest
I enjoyed Diablo 3
I enjoyed PoE
I enjoyed Last Epoch
I enjoyed Diablo 2

what about torchlight 3?

It's alright but making new chars is more fun

I haven't played it.

It is all right but unfinished.

Same. I did not enjoy wolcen though, I was actually so disappointed I wrote a steam review which I've never done before

It's weird, you know, with how the world in this game is a fucking nightmare. But every time that music kicks in when I'm at Devil's Crossing, it's like I'm home. This game is something else. It's a passion project and it shows.

Sell me on TQ and Last Epoch please.
I enjoyed Grim Dawn but something about TQ always looked "off", like abilities look like they have less impact?

It's weird going back to TQ after GD. There is a certain "lack of impact" on weapons, especially noticeable when using controllers, which is Elder God tier on GD. But it is still a very deep, excellent game. It's just a bit old is what it is. Put it this way, it's still one of the best aRPGs in existence.

I plan on playing GD on my Deck when I get it, nice to hear controller support is good

Not him, but I really don't recommend anyone buy last sleepoch unless you're for some reason interested in following development. It's not done, and for me left a bad taste enough that I doubt I reinstall until 1.0 releases

It's seriously good. Would be really comfy on a Deck.

What did you not like about it? I'm interested in the classes and the abilities, pacing looks good too like in-between grim dawn and poe.
But I can wait if it's like lacking endgame or lots of content or something.

>hhmmmm it is time to make a build
>do strong hit every three attacks
>or
>do strong hit every four attacks

>yawners still coping
lmao

Why not strong hits on every attack and laser light show bringing the hurt every three attacks?

God tier lore

>they all suck

arpgs in general got BTFO by path of exile adding a new league with new items and skills every 3 months and they just can't compete with that model over time. plus most companies aren't great with networking and anti-cheat etc. let alone the rampant bot problem every arpg has on the basis of them being very simple games to bot.

it's essentially an excuse to start over with a fresh economy every so often instead of everything stagnating. in grim dawn that's irrelevant since you can just use a character editor.

It has very little content, and what is there is very repetitive (no procedurally generated maps). But besides that, it just feels like a tech demo. The skills feel weak, animations are very rough, almost every class has an auto attack that you have to use to regen mana. Crafting is interesting but very shallow, there's no silly interactions or things to find to break because the devs "fix" the fun stuff instantly. There are some good ideas but I'm not sure the devs know what to prioritize, and as a result updates are slow and sometimes strange.

Why not Mortar?

they made the mistake of having shit balance at launch with one omega-overpowered build that destroyed all content, then being forced to piss off metababbies by removing that build for the long term health of the game... except the game never even had any real long term plans to begin with.

Yeah. Shame the game is so janky and unfun. New items are useless when the game itself is a F2P grifting session every time you log in.

I just want an ARPG that rips off POE's skill system without all the fucking bloat and SHMUPifying its accrued over the years

>play arpg
>use pet build
>trivialize all content into walking simulator
heh, nothing personnel, kid

I remember when it came out I beat it in two evenings without dying once, and when I pointed this out some nerd told be I played it wrong, because I was supposed to play on hardcore and farm specific build for a specific class skilling specific perks and spells.

Serves you right for talking to ARPG spergs

Devs can't balance pets/summons for shit. It's either walking simulator or spamming summon and very quickly running out of mana simulator.

*laughs at you in dual pistol
