Time to meet your creator, thread

choose

that scene where you are way higher up than the fleet falling toward one of the first ships, and you can see all those ships and the worldscape down below

that shit creates such vertigo, and i'm not one to be afraid of heights but that scene does something to me on a primal instinctual level

Why the FUCK didn't they use this stage in Generations instead?

>create 2 minutes of level design
>copy and paste 3 times
>call it a level

>IM FALLING

because nobody thought that the shitty facebook poll would decide the levels of the game

Sonic Heroes Story mode feels like Two arcs. You have the first arc with the shit stages that ends with Rail Canyon and another Egg Albatross fight. But then, you get to second half and every stage after is awesome. Egg Fleet is the peak of adrenaline.

How exactly does Eggman build so many robots anyway

he's the only one in the setting actually doing anything

kek Sonic Heroes probably got 0 votes so they went with the default instead

Attached: file.png (777x365, 114.37K)

The sheer amount of resources he has is insane.

Attached: CEKdkTYWgAAop14[1].png (829x806, 883.6K)

In the story, Eggman was captured and locked up by Metal Sonic. I assume the Egg Pawns were actually the result of Metal planning to go full terminator apocalypse in his plan to destroy Sonic and friends.

>Create robot
>robot create robots
>robots gather material
>robots create even more robots

Same, even bullet canyon pits weren't that bad

He probably has islands just covered with factories that constantly automatically churn out more robots. The real question is where he gets enough raw material to make shit like the Death Egg or the Sonic Colors amusement park.

Eggman was in Horizon Zero Dawn?

he's got the master plan

In the classics I always got the impression that Robotnik was kinda like a regular guy, probably some industrial leader, who just got in over his head and got Sonic mad.
Kinda like a Onceler and Lorax situation.
Of course we now know that's not exactly the case, but Sonic Riders at least attempts to give a plausible explanation by making him the CEO of a robot security company.

Still hasn't been topped

>Find Eggman's fleet!
>you start the level in the middle of the fleet

What made Bullet Canyon bad compared to the other stages wasn't the height, but the amounts of rails and pitfalls in it. It was a stage that punished you for going fast.

Why doesn't Eggman just fulfill the grey goo dooms day theory

i am specifically mentioning the height aspect of Egg Fleet, i will post a screenshot or something to show you, there's something FUCKED about how high you are in relation to literally everything pictured

Shout out to teams darks final fortress for having absolutely kino shortcuts, really makes you feel like you earned them. Just a shame that if you miss them you get punished with helmeted hammer guys

post badniks

That's how Sonic games should be designed though. You are punished for missing the fast paths with slower paths. Heroes does this very often which is why I always say it's closer to the Classic games in some ways than the Adventure games were.

I'll shill for Heroes all day but those helmet niggers are the one time the combat is just inexcusably bad. They just grind the game to a halt any time the game forces you to fight one.

this shit right here
fucks me all up, what the hell

You know all those casinos he's made throughout the series?

that's it bro! i posted a video too!

Really a fucking poll? To be honest I am fucking amazed that Emerald Coast did not make it, I'd rather have that one than seaside hill but I also like Seaside, either way, Egg Fleet should have been the Heroes stage, by far, most unique location in the game, it's even in the damn intro, FFS.

if this question were to be asked today on twitter, what would you think the responses would be?
personally, I'd vote for either Jungle Zone, Meta Junglia, or Angel Island without the fire bullshit.

>you'll Regret This Doctor. Even If I'm Not Real, I'm Still The Ultimate Life Form. Shadow The Hedgehog!

Don't forget he also owns Oil Ocean. He's technically an Oil Baron.

>How exactly does Eggman build all those Eggman's robots anyway
fixed

I agree but in the classic games it was 10-20 seconds going down a different path, not 40-60 seconds staying stationary and awkwardly aiming head shots with Omega

That was the original concept. Sonic was an environmentalist hero, "nature fighting back". Hence the little animals being freed when you kill the robots. Even though they were supposed to have been "roboticized" i.e. turned into 1:1 robotic copies of themselves. But the animals popping out are definitely not their "souls", I think the original concept of Sonic was le evil industrialist trapping animals inside robots to power them somehow by leeching off le nature.
Remember how Robotnik (or at that time, Eggman) sets the rainforest on fire in the first level of Sonic 3? Not really subtle.

It's honestly good that they couldn't do voice lines and didn't add in weird JRPG text dialogue. Probably would have been some preachy cringe about stopping the corporations...from a corporation...ahead of its time.

How do they even get that high up, they literally end the previous level at a water level castle garden, while Hang Castle is obviously quite tall, Mystic Mansion is like ground level. Did they hit a gravity and instead of floating into space, actually manage to turn around?

real mfers remember robotnik winter zone

Attached: coldeggs.jpg (1280x720, 126.16K)

I really like the saw shark looking ones.

Mogged by Ice Cap Zone on god fr fr

black magic or maybe they hitched a ride like flying battery, after all they see the fleet after egg albatross.

real cap, no cap, baseball cap? ice cap adventure the GOAT and SHEEP.

Part of the appeal of Heroes "emulating the classics" is by having level themes and progression that make absolutely no sense.
Ignore the fact that only Sonic 2 has level progression that makes no sense and 1 and 3 actually tried to be cohesive.
Shoutouts to my most hated bit, where at the end of Mystic Mansion the implication is that they dispel the curse on the area and it just becomes a normal castle but then it goes back to being spooky for the boss fight.

doesn't the level end with them grabbing a rocket or something?

Test

there was sense to be made during development, if you emulate the "Complete" rom you can set the levels to be in the proper order

Attached: sonic.png (197x234, 56.12K)

I loved seeing this in the CGI intro but I didn't have a memory card for the PS2 so I could never reach it without getting a game over because the game decides to just stop working and kill you at random moments.
Sonic Heroes is my vote for worst game that you can reasonably describe as having SOUL.

>PS2
notoriously shit version, this game was made with Gamecube and Xbox in mind, the PS2 was slapped together at the end of development due to Sony giving the devs and ultimatum

Even 2 had level progression that you could argue made sense where you do Nature-EggmanBase X3 taking down his various mechanical bases then close in on his home base with ocean/metropolis
Then you invade his ship with the final 3 acts

ps2 version sucked but I don't remember dying at random. Regardless, you should probably play the gc version since that's the actual way to play the game at 60 fps and minimal glitches.

What can I say? I love this place.

quit enjoying things you fucking faggot also you didn't put most of the best versions in also for laughs you should put in a screen of Sonic R Resort Island

Pick your levels for Sonic Generations 2, (try to avoid retreading 3DS Generations and Mania)
>Marble Zone (would be cool to see turned into a 3D stage and not be so slow)
>Casino Night Zone
>Ice Cap Zone
>Sky Deck
>White Jungle
>Hang Castle
>Wave Ocean
>Windmill Isle
>Asteroid Coaster

Bonus
>Sandopolis
>Westopolis
>Sea Bottom Segue
>Ghost City

>Owns casinos and parks all over the world
>Has mad quantity or resources to build and rebuild oil ocean and death egg multiple times
>Can destroy the moon
>If left offscreen for seconds he'll come back with one or ten alien empires he conquered
>Most competent person in the entire world
>Can harness the magic powers of the emeralds without saiyan destiny bullshit asspulls.
And people don't like him because he puts dogs inside pens boohoo.

Is Eggman a threat to humanity or does he just hate furries? I remember reading that he wanted to turn people into robots but I don't know if that's true.

Look at all those Eggman's robots

Robotnik and G.U.N commander are the most based characters in the franchise.

Trust Sega to ruin it by not paying for the based music.

Has a piece of Sonic 1 or 2 music that wasn't Green Hill or Chemical Plant been reused in any meaningful capacity in the past 30 years?

I thought it was "we are destined fighters"

Oops forgot Generations 3DS did Casinopolis, and I guess it was DLC in console version… would Aquatic Ruins be too similar to Marble Zone and White Jungle? Maybe Mystic Cave instead, even add a Hidden Palace secret

Oh fuck I forgot CD too.
Whacky Workbench for sure, just for the bouncy floors gimmick

what goes up must come down
you're a nigger with a frown

Chips? You mean potato chips?

WE ALL DANCED IN FIRE, TRAPPED IN THIS MACHINE, DON'T KNOW HOW LONG WE'VE WAITED, AS THE EGGMANS WATCHING

MR. YUJI NAKA IS ALRIGHT!!!

I wish I could see what the options were.
I think some of them are obvious locks, Green Hill Zone was always gonna be in the game, same with Chemical Plant and City Escape.
I think nowadays Hydrocity would have made the cut over Sky Sanctuary, especially with its inclusion in Mania - maybe Flying Battery has a shot too.
Speed Highway also doesn't feel THAT iconic, but I have a hard time picturing a better pick from SA1 that's not Emerald Coast. Maybe Lost World or Twinkle Park? It's worth noting Speed Highway in Generations is unique for being the only boost Sonic stage that takes place at night.
I can see Egg Fleet getting in nowadays since the people who actually like Heroes are no longer 8 years old, alternatively Grand Metropolis.
I'm shocked Crisis City got in over Kingdom Valley even back then.
I think Rooftop Run is another "locked in" pick, it's hard to think of something that better represents Unleashed.
I also think Planet Wisp would be in regardless (the poll was made before Colors was even announced lol), though I can't help but feel like Starlight Carnival would have been a better fit as the final level.
