What's you're favorite game?

No really.
What's your favorite?
You don't even have to tell me why.

Pac-Man World

Dark Souls 1

Silent Hill 2. I pretty much only play horror games and SH2 is the only one that made me feel uncomfortable and "itchy" for days afterwards. Everything from the VHS "truth reveal" to the end (especially the In Water ending) is pure bliss.

Don't have one, I like a variety of games for different reasons.

SH2 is mine too, but I always prefer the "leave" ending. In Water being the "canon" one always kind of bothered me and felt kinda anti-climactic and like it could've happened at any time in James' story. Why do you prefer In Water user?

Xenoblade probably.
I couldn't pick one of the 3, I like them all a lot.

Hard to pick just one but if I had to pick I'd say Half-Life 2, game itself is incredibly nostalgic for me and still holds up very well and all the mods(including gmod), interesting maps and whatever else it spawned were incredibly fun.

Drakengard 1. It just has this something, that other games in the DrakeNier series just don't. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but the combo of a fantasy world being so thoroughly deconstructed along with the genre, the dark atmosphere, disturbing music, shitty graphics, edgy artstyle, wonderful voice acting, the fact that the characters are just unapologetically awful people just scratches an itch i never knew i had. It's just unique.

I know the other games have these things in varying degrees, and do some of them better, it's just this very specific combination y'know?

Black ops 4 on PC. It was fun bunny hopping with the 2 Pump shotgun.

Skyrim probably

nice game: my first 3 ps1 games were the aforementioned, populus the beginning and fighting force 2

RimWorld
Dark Souls 2

Honorable mention to Batman Arkham City, it's just go so much soul I love it. So much better than asylum.

Pretty damn based, user. I'm playing through it right now - I love it, but I also hate it. The ground missions are ok, if I use a decent weapon - which I usually don't, as I want to level all of them up - but the aerial combat fucking sucks and even makes me want to go back to ground combat
Everything else is fantastic

I think it's actually Skyrim. I've always coming back to it after a few years.

Third Strike
Good animations, deep gameplay, interesting cast of characters, and great pacing. I can hop in and play for 10 minutes a day and instantly improve my mood.

Mine is Zelda, A link to the past.
It has good challenge, lots of dungeons, lots of items, and it's comfy as fuck.

Touhou 1cc

Final Fantasy 7

The game is broken, the mechanics are extremely dated, it was never graphically great, and the world building has a lot of holes in it. In spite of all of that though I've never had a game resonate with me on that level and I identify with Cloud more than any fictional character ever.

Mario Bros 3 was the first videogame thing I fell in love with, it was what made me realize how some games were just on another level it was so much better than anything else on my crappy famiclone.

It changes every year or 2, but for some reason I always occasionally drift back to Gen 4-5 Pokémon on an emulator despite playing almost entirely strategy/FPS games and owning only 3 nintendo games and a DS lite from over a decade ago.

> I love it, but I also hate it.
Fairly normal. That was, apparently, the intended experience. I would recommend replaying the first mission over and over again, as the weapons level by killing, rather than by XP.

If you don't like the aerial missions, don't worry, there's a pretty good bossfight by the start of endgame. It's pretty damn hype, moreso even than the loli giant doomsday chain smoker voice final boss.

Zelda 2.

There's some close contenders, but I have to give it to Sekiro. The gameplay is just too fucking good.

I think my #1 still goes to Deus Ex. It remains the greatest example of complex systems interacting in emergent and unpredictable ways, supported by stellar worldbuilding, level design, and exploration of some powerful and interesting themes. In between the super-conspiracy silliness, it was the first piece of media that really prompted teenage me to think about things like the nature/role of government. And the Morpheus conversation was outright clairvoyant in its description of the modern social media landscape.

A close #2 is The Last of Us: Part II. That would be an uncontroversial pick most places online, but I'll really need to justify if I want to convince Yea Forums I'm not trolling. It's the most delicately crafted and memorable character drama ever written for a game, one that's more interested in its characters' inner lives and motivations than in the exact course of events. It's willing to be subtle when it needs to be and leans on implication, non-verbal mocapped acting, and audience interpretation in telling its story. It's also easily the most technically accomplished game ever, with absurd amounts of unique detail and pitch-perfect animation throughout. It's honestly a pretty crazy experience playing it for the first time, especially if you have good audio and avoided the spoilers.

I don't think I have one. I think I play games that interest me for ages so I can daydream about the hypothetical favorite game that could one day be.

Who's Lila?
Such an interesting hidden gem. Nothing like it out there. It's one of the few recent indie games that really stands out plot-wise (its not another le depression game) and gameplay-wise. I barely play anything new anymore because most devs don't/can't really try out new game mechanics out of fear that their game won't sell and I'm too lazy to play something that's not almost entirely new. It's got good gameplay, a great artstyle, a deep and interesting plot and the game is very minimalistic with the clues it gives you. I'm surprised there aren't more people talking about it here.

>In Water being the "canon" one always kind of bothered me
There is no canon ending in SH2.
But I agree with the other user, In Water is probably my favorite too. And Maria has the best song.

Well, you've convinced me to try the demo.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
I'll play through it every few years and it feels like coming home. I guess it released at the right time for me, leaving a mark.
