Phoenix Wright or Danganronpa?

Which one should I play first?
Which one is better?

Phoenix wright is light and comfy, even the darker investigations. Like a game of Clue with friends.
Danganronpa is fucking intense, like a game of Clue with serial killers.

All true.

For OP: doesn't matter, play both. If you are going to play ALL PW games, you might burn out, as some of the later ones are weaker. In that case, go with DR.
But I doubt it actually matters. I found DR more exciting but PW is comfy, so its up your mood

Thanks. Been wanting to play these for so long now as I have heard many good things.

I personally love them. They're very good.
Heads up that DR has a weird way to progress in the franchise.

I believe its
DR 1
DR 2
DR: Another Episode (Its a shooter) (you can honestly skip this but you'll miss some info for the anime. You can just watch a cutscene video on youtube)
DR3 (this is an anime and you actually have to alternate between two storylines; someone can explain it to you when you get there. Not too hard)
DRv3

Play the first game of both series and then play the one you liked the most.
I tend to play Ace Attorney on and off when I got time and Danganronpa for several hours when I got time

PW lets you play on and off really well. DR: once I started, I marathoned that goddamn game. I'd take time off work if they gave me a 4th game.
I know Yea Forums doesn't like Raging Loop but I felt that feeling again in that game.

How long is Raging Loop for one standard playthrough?

There's a reason Danganautists have sustained a fandom for almost a decade. There's something about the series that creates obsessive fans that rarely happens unless a game is practically transcendental in some way.

Just skip DRAE and the anime. Who's got the time to waste?

AE is pretty sucky, but the whole anime is a 6-hour watch to provide some closure for those who need it.

Yea, you could skip them. The anime was god tier to watch with Yea Forums and Yea Forums. And I mean that with complete honesty. The memes were great. I actually think Future Arc is worth it. Despair Arc is skippable.
The anime DOES end the story arc after all.
But you can 100% skip both and go with just the 3 main games.

Both are great. Loved Danganronpa but I regret ever playing the v3. The ending isn't worth it, it killed the entire series for me.

30 hours? Took me a few days honestly. It's not super long though
Google says 24 hours though and that's probably true.
I went back to do alot of the extras, so that why I might remember it being longer.

phoenix

The Phoenix Wright trilogy is significantly better, and pretty much king of VN.
Danganronpa's still pretty good, but the first game's the worst, imo. So try not to let a bad first impression turn you off.

>king of VN
What. I love PW but it's not even in my top 10 VNs. You need to play more

>significantly better
No. DR does many things better but so does PW.
But yes, first DR is pretty weak. When you play it , you might not notice it but looking back?

>people still don't understand the ending

OP here.
I have both the PW Trilogy and Trigger Happy Havoc. I'm probably gonna start with Ace Attorney first and then I'll go into DR.

You sound like a rin fag from Katawa Shoujo

I loved the ending, one of my favorite game endings ever. Not to argue, just to show op that he might love it.

Enjoy. I'd say if you decide to start PW first, you can go ahead and play the first three (the trilogy) but then DEFINITELY start DR then. There are even more PW games but they are in varying qualities. Worth playing! But definitely do DR before you start them.

Nah, she was probably my least favorite. I had to google to even remember.

Will do. Thanks ^^
Now feel free to derail this thread by arguing over which one is the better franchise like the autists y'all are :)

A lot of people enjoyed it. I think its simply that people are misunderstanding what is being said.
but no spoilers, for OP.

Play both retard

at the same time?

Simple, start with Ace Attorney because it came first. When you're done with the trilogy, go ahead and start the DR series. Come back and play the rest of AA if you're still hungry for more after that.

yeah just like sonic

Play both. If you intend to play every game in each series, start with DR since there are only 3 total but Ace Attorney has 11 games.

Do NOT waste your time on DR unless you're a teenager. Its the cringiest most garbage series I've ever played. Consider yourself warned.

There's legit one cringy character and he's only in DR1.

the writing is fucking dumb but the characters are genuinely endearing

play phoenix wright, jerk off to porn of both
danganronpa isn't worth playing

>

Yea, he was a chad.

So you didn't play it and are basing it off Yea Forums?
he doesn't even appear in the games

redpill me on Danganronpa

Murder mystery/death game in short

Basically, bunch of students (each with a talent, like #1 cook, #1 programmer, though some of ridiculous) are locked inside their school with their memories removed.
To leave, they have to kill someone and get away with it. When someone is killed, other students have to discover who did it and then there is a trial where they debate who they think the killer is.
if the killer isn't voted as the killer, he escapes, everyone else dies. Otherwise, HE dies, and the rest live.
To escape and NOT murder: you gotta find out who is the mastermind and why you are locked in, etc etc.
Probably a shit summary, but basically, it's a typical mystery game in a sense that collect clues and present them at intervals in the trial to make your point.

Lots of twists and turns. First game has a few good characters and a few shitty, but as the franchise continued they got much better.
Great music, and it's really intense. Pretty gory at parts, especially if a killer is voted off and is executed.

i found danganronpa quite cringe and edgy, i think you'll only like it if you enjoy the characters rather than the overarching stories. also it has a trash artstyle

ace attorney is based, both when it's lighthearted and also when it's serious. every game in the series is good (some cases are better than others)

AAI2 is a masterpiece but it's unfortunate you can only play it on an emulator

I've never heard of this but if I like PW and DR should I just jump in blind

>Edgy
Nah, edgy is a forced thing.
It's just a dark and grim storyline. Not forced. It's students killing each other off. Also, solving the overarching mystery is great.
But yes, the first game is a little cringy. Still great though.
But let's be honest, PW is plenty cringe too. Especially with the number of memes.

Yes. Gameplay isn't like PW and DR but the themes are the mystery elements are.
Kinda reminds me of "Zero Escape" games. If you've played those, you'll see why very quickly.
DEFINITELY go in and play blind. I loved it.

easy sell, loved ZE too. Outta this thread, thanks for the rec.

Have fun!

Oh and if you like ZE, definitely check out: ai the somnium files
Same writer.

Ace Attorney blows the fuck out of Danganronpa in every department.

Heck, I'll give one more recommendation since I'm such a cool guy:
428: Shibuya Shuffle is also similar in game structure. Also a mystery but it's VERY unique in presentation.

DR:
>better music (but it's a close one. PW has some great tunes)
>more memorable characters
>more serious tone (so no lolrandum memes)
>better overarching story
>much much more exciting
>doesn't drag on
>FTE are fucking based as fuck
They're both great though, but they scratch different itches

PW is kinda forgettable though you enjoy it as you play. Danganronpa has so many goddamn memes, it's unreal. It's a cult classic for a reason.

FTE?

Free time events
While you could call it a dating sim, it's a great way to get more character depth.
but even better:
get to know someone and care for them, with the looming threat that in the next chapter they might die or end being being a murderer.
All that time you spent with them... gone forever
Did a good job of maintaining tension.

Danganronpa immediately loses vs. PW because the setting is so unrealistic, it's a game for the sake of a game and full of asspulls while PW feels like actual stories/cases and is more grounded in general.

>>better music
completely disagree, there are plenty of PW tracks that stuck with me and I enjoy them more than DR's which sometimes just feels like nonsense. I ain't saying DR's music is bad but I definitely think PW's is better.
>>more memorable characters
doesn't mean they're better characters.
>>more serious tone (so no lolrandum memes)
The first game maybe, but all that goes out the window once the main villain is revealed and the plot completely shat itself. Even then the incredibly wacky and exaggerated characters work against any attempts at a serious tone. DR doesn't even use real blood.
>>better overarching story
Completely disagree with this. The overarching story in DR was always terrible and this came to a head with the awful DR3 anime. PW games are tied together in a much more natural way while also being self contained enough that you don't have to play every game in the series to follow what's going on.
>much much more exciting
Possibly but that's more to do with the stakes being higher in DR for everyone

Different user, also picking this up because I'm bored out of my skull.

Ace attorney mogs DR in almost every single area. The is no real tension in wondering who the mastermind in DR is since the explanation would never make sense. At least in AA there is a reason for every murder.

PW is better overall because Danganonpa has a plot twist in V3 that UNDERMINES THE ENTIRE SERIES

idiot

lol

About 30+ hours.
It was spectacular, but be warned. The final route, is game ruining. It's very rare that a VN/game shits the bed so hard.

And what makes it worse is that it is HOURS of making the entire game WORSE

It's mostly because there's really nothing else like it. Even Phoenix Wright makes it pretty obvious who's the culprit even before the trial, because that's not the point. The point is to prove how they did it.

The ending literally undermines it's entire message if you look at it as a whole.

Ace Attorney is by far the superior product, if you are an annoying ironic weeb Danganronpa is right up your alley though

Is Danganronpa's story on-rails or does it branch out depending on your choices?

Attached: 1625507612294.png (486x324, 76.37K)

That's actually a good thing, because Phoenix Wright 1 actually get the ball rolling in the first two trials. Though some might say it does that much too quickly which I do agree.

on rails outside of a branch in 1 but that leads to a bad ending and then boots you back to the choice

Two different series. One is a attorney simulator and the other is a killing game. Investigation is the only similar part.
Try Danganronpa first cuz it has less games than Phoenix Wright.
