I didn't enjoy A Hat in Time. I completed the beach resort level and stopped after that.
Yooka-Laylee was fun, but was empty and got boring going through the levels to collect everything.

I liked both buttons they really are different games.
AHIT is a Mario sunshine remake with paper Mario elements.
YL is a banjo tooie remake that was simplified.

Neither were as good as the originals imo. It was a fun play through but I never bothered replaying them.

Bow Kid looks like shit user, I wont mind it if her design was better or she had panty shots, but this T rated game can't do that (only black voids or purple in Hat Kid's case) yet the E rated Megaman Legends 2 had no problem showing a fully naked brown loli butt.

Yes, Bow Kid's design is a little more detailed than the others. But in my opinion, it really just goes to chow that Hat Kid's design is overly simplistic. Like, Hat Kid's design is ok. But the artists actually improved over time, so they were able to flesh out Bow Kid. It's almost like the evolution of the art style. I be if they decided to make a sequel, they would probably update Hat Kid's design to have extra little details here and there. More pronounced fabric texturing. Noticeably trim on her coat and cape. Maybe some buttons down the front, who knows.

But the boy? There's no saving him. He's a faggy looking kid in a buttondown shirt, with ugly tattoos on his face. It's an insult to good taste to prefer him over Bow Kid.

Hat Kid's simple design works on her favor since it works well when hacked onto retro platformers (her retro badge design is also pretty cool and proof of that), Bow Kid design is really crappy and doesn't fit well with the rest of the game, the designs for most of the Nyazuka metro are great so Bow Kid is one of the very few characters that really don't fit, her overdesigned clothes feel more at home on a cheap pre school CGI show like the ones from Disney Jr or Cartoonito

Yooka-Laylee makes you want to play what it's based on instead. A Hat in Time stands fine on its own, though it's way too short.

I know it doesn't matter now that the game came out, but kind of fucked how the hub was the final stretch goal here.

YookaLaylee was fun for only the first level and it has the audacity to give you the option to make it's large and empty levels larger to incentivise you to play more. But it's worse than that:

>most of the characters aren't fun or memorable
>Rextro games are terrible
>Kartos sections or garbage
>enemy variety is non existent
>overworld is just as empty and boring to traverse as regular levels
>progressing through the game requires you to go through asinine trivia sections
>special moves require energy to perform

There's probably more things I can think of. I find it very strange that the team that made Banjo Kazooie failed to make a good BK spiritual successor but they managed to make a pretty decent DKC clone. I will say that the soundtrack of YL is pretty damn good. Actually the Kartos sections, despite being garbage, had fantastic music.
