There is no fixing FFXIV. The only people still playing it are grown men ERPers, stockholme syndrome world proggers, and asmongold fan redditors. The game hasn't been good since Heavensward.

You're thinking of Zodiac Weapon. It is one of the final stages for the ARR Relic. You could get started on it right now if you wanted to, but expect a grind. As well, only classes from ARR can get a Zodiac Weapon.

Zodiac weapons are the big grind weapon made to show off you worked on it as stages for the upgrades were added post-ARR, pre-HW. Usually called a relic weapon for that expansion.

You can still get them, but they are the biggest grind of any of the expansions. HW's is called Anima weapons, StB are Eureka weapons, and ShB are Resistance weapons. They haven't started the first stage of Endwaker relic weapons. Best to look up a video or image gallery of them and see if any look cool, and maybe try for one of them if you wanna use it for fashion.

I already did the HW ninja one, I'm just wondering wtf a zodiac weapon is because I had the option of turning one in and I don't remember ever seeing a quest to get one. I did a few of the ARR relic weapon ones but as far as I was aware it ended there.

What you see listed for Relic weapons in the achievement list is a holdover 1.0 Relic list. 2.X series introduced the Zodiac Relics, 3.0 is Anima, 4.0 Eureka, 5.0 Resistance & Skysteel, and whatever the 6.0 Relics will be (30 total)

not even close, best group(s) just reached phase 6 and there are atleast 8 (or 7.5 depending how the final one plays out) most of the good groups are still stuck on 5

Is this a good first MMORPG? I've never played one before but I'm a little interested because I like other Final Fantasy games, and I see a lot of cute girls in this one. Also, how viable is it to play solo (as in, not fighting alongside other players. I don't mind them being there in the background to fill the world so it doesn't feel as dead). Are there any points in which cooperation with other players is mandatory?

Yeah I went back to Gerolt and I found the quest. I thought grinding the fates in HW was annoying. This is that but worse.

Two weeks ago they just released a patch that lets you do almost the entire first part of the game on your own, using NPCs as your group members for every story dungeon. They're planning on adding this to later expansions in the coming patches. So playing solo is pretty viable for the main story content. Side stuff you'll definitely require a group of other players, though, and that's where a lot of the fun in the game is.

But it's not like you're forced at gunpoint to socialize with people you don't want to. Most of the time you just matchmake into a group and do the dungeon/raid as if the others were just robot party members, but it can even be fun to socialize with people sometimes.

there's no going back after the mod scene and wow shitposting blew up, even the patch threads are now full of low effort bait and completely unironic doomposting
but imo that's just the natural progression of any game or series gains traction
at least the stream threads are still fun, and despite all of the above i think for some reason the xivfags here handle shitposts better than many other threads

Ever go to one of those FC houses people advertise in town? Any of them actually well designed and laid out?

some of them are really nice, there was one that had a complete area out of bounds which was pretty cool. it's hit or miss but the hits are always nice to sit at for a bit.

I could talk about how they didn't nerf WHM hard enough in pvp, or how frontlines is somehow more of a murderball simulator than before and needs to have the number of players drastically reduced.

I went to one run by very dedicated RPers, the layout was pretty good too if you enjoy club vibes.
