It's interesting hearing the Japanese voices for once.
It's funny how so many people complain that Roger voicing Sonic sounds too old, yet the original Japanese voice for Sonic sounds older than all of the english ones.

It's a nightmare to navigate around, especially on a first playthrough.

Confusing physics/logic and it's very large.

Gamecube beats it, not even just from Chao Garden and Multiplayer. Better framerate and the Knuckles/Rouge levels give you the red "!" when you're in the shard's vicinity. The differences between them aren't nearly as large as SA 1 and its DX port, 2Battle is just a straight upgrade over 2.

The lighting system is fucked up and it introduces a lot of bugs that weren't in the original. It's not definitive because it destroys the developers original vision for the game. On top of that, it's a common misunderstanding that 2Battle added multiplayer. The Dreamcast has it too, it just doesn't have the added unbalanced characters that 2Battle has.

The Chao garden additions are all it has, which is offset by the fact that the Dreamcast version has the neat VMU gimmicks.

I played the Dreamcast version recently the (!) honestly makes no difference in practice. The radar still pings like crazy when you're standing over it.

Anyone that actually cares about playing the game as intended cares, it makes a massive difference when you're playing and how the game looks.

Actually I'm currently replying it right now and it's just as wonderful as I remember. So fucking great. Except Mad Space. Just finished it and it took me 25ish min and I had to kill myself to reset the position of the last emerald since I just couldn't find it. Fuck Mad Space.

SA2B was literally my first Sonic game, had a lot of great memories with it. Rented it from a video store out of curiosity way back when.

It was great that they eventually released the Sonic Mega/Gems Collections on Gamecube as well. Sonic Adventure DX was a struggle to get through though.
