I miss when this series didn't take itself too seriously with the first game...
Kingdom Hearts
It did though? It was just less convoluted and packed with less characters
It's kinda hard to take it very seriously in general.
Much of what people hate today was already being hinted at in the very first game. It was always taking itself too seriously.
The problem now is that everything relevant to the plot is OC content with Disney stuff having no real reason to be there and final fantasy already having been kicked out. It's a matter of time until there's no Disney any more and KH becomes OC only
this... is... epic
Actually pretty hype.
Someday
Reminder isn't Zettaflare like one of the strongest moves you can use in any Final Fantasy?
Kingdom hearts has always taken itself serious though. You think sora stabbing him self or riku acting like an Edge lord or ansem literally screaming “kingdom hearts, fill me with the power…..of Darkness” etc isn’t being serious?
It already took itself extremely seriously with the first game— What made it work was how it embraced the campiness of the premise and told a timeless coming of age story with the perfect balance of seriousness and levity. The flaw of the later games is that they focused so much on explaining the lore and answering mysteries that they forgot to tell a compelling story. The lore taking a backseat in KH1 and having many unanswered mysteries was one of the game’s biggest strengths from a story telling standpoint.
Yes. So strong THE ONLY MAGE IN FINAL FANTASY HISTORY to use it has been Donald Duck
The first game was literally the only game that didn't take itself too seriously
as soon as chain of memories happened, it immediately took a nosedive into deviantart fanfiction garbage and never recovered
You can`t really take KH seriously though... not with the plot trying to come up with "scientific" explanations about the workings of the heart and Donald an Goofy hanging around. In any case it`s done now. Didn`t end with a bang but i don`t think that matters anymore. They are most definitely going to go for the MCU/SW/live action remakes approach next so the IP is all but dead now.
Yes.
Well, Airy from Bravely Default has also used it, but she's the herald of a demon god that's waging war on existence itself, and she was channeling his power at the time.
i tried playing the first game but its terrible rn ima skip to 2 is that alright
I know this is Donald's moment, but it's also pretty impressive how Goofy was able to repel Terranort.
If you can't stand the first game, no way in hell you will survive the prologue of KH2.
You'll miss out on two game's worth of information, but you'll probably enjoy II a lot more.
Dumbass motherfucker the series is not for you move on
I don't think you'll particularly like 2 then. The mechanics are deeper, but it also doesn't do much to prevent you from "mash x to win" until end game/post game.
>didn't take itself seriously
>"Kingdom Farts... IS LIGHT"
If you don't like KH1, odds are good that you won't like KH2 enough on a basic level either.
I really wanna see these three having their own adventure someday
>Give Kairi and Axel keyblades
>They job in cutscenes in the most pathetic way imaginable
>Don't give keyblades to characters who can block or solo Terranorth
Yen Sid was pretty retarded. If I were him I've have confiscated Kairi and Axel's keyblades and made Donald & Goofy two of th 7 Lights. Every since KH2 it seems like keyblades can just be handed down like candy anyway
I wish there were more art of the cute girls instead of an endless fujo flood.
It's out there but you have to find it first, we left everything in that place.
>but it also doesn't do much to prevent you from "mash x to win" until end game/post game.
Lvl 1 Critical is the perfect, and possibly only solution to this. Though I can't speak on normal critical mode, but I'm sure you can afford to make a few more mistakes as it you have access to Second Chance and Once More.
I do wish the other Seven Lights had kinda gotten their moment. I get that Sora is the key (heh) to everything, but it makes me wonder what the point of collecting seven heroic keyblade wielders was if only one of them amounts to anything for the forces of light.
It definitely exists in some quantity, but it's also mostly just fluff, since the majority of KH fan artists are still girls at the end of the day, regardless of which characters they're drawing. It's just how things are with this fanbase.
Yes, but the main story bosses are factually less difficult than KH1 story bosses overall. Sora is just way too OP in 2, and the main story bosses are designed around the assumption that you have no growth abilities unlocked and that you’re going to be using reaction commands frequently. For most of the game, all Critical really changes is that the game goes from “mash X and Triangle to win” to “mash X and triangle to win, and sometimes cast Reflect”.
It might help if any of the cute girls ever got to do anything useful
>Teraflare can erase an entire universe
>Zettaflare is a laserbeam with such pinpoint precision that humans standing feet from the cast are unharmed
Fuck Kingdom Hearts
Donald is just that skilled of a mage
it's not about the scale
it's about the damage you deal with it
That's why Donald aimed it up.
Normal runs of critical aren't really that difficult if it doesn't pertain to optional content. Once you get out of early game hell, that user is probably correct in that the average player can likely just mash their way through the rest of the main story. Maybe they'll get walled by Xaldin or Roxas or something for a while, but there's not that many obstacles otherwise.
I've seen some arguments that critical from midgame onwards is actually easier than proud, even.
Checks out with what I'd heard. Speedrunners usually take easy mode or critical mode, because both can be blitzed through pretty quickly if you know what you're about. Proud mode makes the game more difficult than normal, but doesn't give you any extra tools to deal with it like Critical mode does.
Like the entire Flare series, it is beneath only Ultima.
MICKEY uses Ultima but for some reason that's less of a meme than Zettaflare
>Dreamworks in a Disney game
lmao
Why not, Disney's bought plenty of other stuff.
>"it is a move that only Donald Duck has been able to do in all of Square Enix history"
But that's wrong, shitposter-san.
Mickey using Ultima doesn't get memed on because he doesn't get to do it. Xehanort just time stops him and then kicks him away before the spell even forms.
that entire cutscene is the worst writing in the whole series
titanic levels of jobbing for no reason
>Kairi and Axel get sent to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to train for the big Keyblade fight
>they both eat shit (and die, in Kairi's case) immediately without doing anything until Re;Mind course corrects
Why not just have them doing thigs in the Realm of Light in that case? Why remove them from the plot if they're going to be inconsequential? You could've had Kairi be the one to find out about the new Seven Lights while the Disney visits for Sora focused on something else that moved the plot forward.
It always took itself seriously, what you meant to say is that you missed this series before it went hyper convoluted and I agree.
I’ll prefer kino adventures of Sora Donald & Goofy going to Disney worlds and beating up Oogie Boogie or Jafar from controlling the heartless over the anime bullshit of Sora learning his heart is a vessel of Zexora’s memories locked inside Xenmo’s nobody that requires of the power of waking in which Vezzeri discovered in KH 3.4. Birth of Replication.
It took itself seriously even in the very first game. The fuck are you on about? Just cause Pooh was there does not mean it was a serious story. It was always about edgy darkness and heroic light. Now it is going to be about that grey area, I imagine.
Strelitzia is made for ________?
Get that useless cunt Kairi out of there. I hate how many retards pretend this cunt deserves to be seen as important. She died twice in the same game but was revived because Nomura's writing is shit and no the shit heads from TWEWY and FF will not salvage the writing. Nomura is shit and if he had any integrity, dead characters should stay dead.
I would imagine it being something to do with them being compatible with keyblades. For example Squall, Cloud, Auron, etc, are not.
he isnt the only one ever to do it and the way it looked it didnt even look like it could be a zeta flare
I absolutely hate kingdom hearts, including 2 which is loved only by mentally ill retards, but EVEN I have to admit that donald fucking duck nuking the main villain at the height of his power is hilarous kino stuff.
Can't happen because Disney does not collaborate like that.
>including 2 which is loved only by mentally ill retards
I can understand hating the story but the gameplay is excellent and precise.
So this is what kingdom heart autists cum over
I really wish Kingdom Hearts II had done things differently.
>First half of the game is Pete trying to rebuild Maleficent's group
>maybe getting a little something together, but ultimately everything comes apart by mid-game
>Organization could still be in the shadows, maybe occasionally popping in to help Sora to pretend like they care about him
>Timeless River can maybe still happen, albeit without the Cornerstone of Light shit, but Pete's bullshit time door causes Maleficent to come back
>Maleficent starts trying to reassert control and begins a new attack on Hollow Bastion
>Sora and Pals have the big battle at Hollow Bastion, culminating in another fight with Maleficent
>just as Sora's about to strike her down, the Organization interrupts to let Maleficent escape
>at this point the Organization's purpose of prolonging the conflict to obtain hearts becomes clear
>second half of the game is Sora going after the Organization
It's not even that dramatic of a change to KH2's plot. If anything, you might need to cut out the random Nobody attacks early in the game and Yen Sid explaining the Organization to Sora.
user face when kairi appears
but yeah i dont like her really at least she isnt a girl boss that is better then sora and riku fused and can do double zeta flare or something
It's really not, take the nostalgia glasses off, it's really shitty combat
its no different from any other game from its time they should have done it where magic doesnt break the flow of combat imo
Would help if the female characters actually had a personality that was not Bland Niceness. Every single shitty original female has this cancerous uninteresting personality, even Arlene at her core is nice. But I'm glad that every female is the same because it means it kills interest, Waifu Faggots should be burned to death for being annoying subhumans.
>Sora "dies" in The Kingdom of Far Far Way
>Shrek closes his eyes and mutters "it's ogre..."
>Suddenly Shadow Sora appears
>Shrek says "Heh. I guess hearts are like onions too. You peel away one layer after the other."
>Mission: Defeat Shadow Sora
Name one game similar.
Super competent female characters will always be shit. And it's why I abandoned western media especially Disney.
>he didn't see the Re:Mind cutscene where everyone struggled to touch Xemnas, except for Kairi who manages to get him to parry her and retreat
What is the power scale between Ultima and Flare & Friends?
I miss when Kairi had spunk in KH1/2 and was voiced by Hayden instead of turning her into an exact clone of Xion with the same fucking voice and everything.
Larxene is the only female OC who actually has a personality while every other girl is literal cardboard.
