I think companies release bad games on purpose on occasions so their other products look better and as an experiment to figure out what is considered acceptable quality.
I think Game Freak did this with Pokemon Go Pikachu/Eevee because the positive reception led to them showing off and releasing Sword/Shield very shortly afterwards. If Pokemon Go was recieved poorly I think Sword/Shield would have been delayed.

Yeah, we did this for Endgame, way before covid hit, and then for No Way Home which was 6 months after we dropped all our restrictions. For Covid we just sold out half the seats making it so no one could sit next to eachother. We only enforced the rule for a week before we closed down, we opened up a few more times randomly and we didnt enforce jack shit

I have one similar. I think the developers of the game Prototype named the game as such so that it was very hard to search for rare prototypes of consoles and video games in order for them to get better deals and less competition on bidding.

Pretty much a given. Nintendo is so famous they can basically ask the Japanese government to do whatever as Nintendo is basically Japan (at least in terms of entertainment) at this point. If nothing else I can imagine their own employees being encouraged to buy their own product and get a under the counter refund.

Having a product with a clear copyright date on it helps even if no one in the world buy the product. The reason the Western gaming media (devs and journos) act negatively towards Jap games and call for censorship on them, say they are made wrong, etc. is because Japan is by far the biggest competitor to Silicon Valley. It only benefits them if Japan fails so they do everything in their power to try and make it happen

It focuses on Malenia vs Radahn, even though their fight really isn’t all that important in the grand scheme of things. “Look up at the sky, it burns.” Obviously the red sky had some bigger significance, but they just kept it in the final version and blamed it on Melania’s rot bloom. Doesn’t even make sense. If the line was referring to the burning of the tree, why show a red sky in the trailer without the tree on fire. My guess is that it was something more like Sekiro where you might have even played as Melania.

Steam is being consistent with their approach at that issue and I commend them on that. The only reason ZUN ever put his game there is because he can't be arsed to put english translation.

Gaming has surged over the pandemic so big companies are cash rich, but because inflation is so high they want to get rid of all their cash because it's effectively a decaying asset. So if small companies sell now they can get way the fuck more for their companies than they ever will again, regardless of the risk of an impending crash.

Mobile gaming was the successor to Flash games. As the success of Vampire Survivors proves, there might be a demand for backported/cloned mobile games on PC. They're also excellent broadcasting material due to their simple nature. Microsoft saw it and pushed W11 to allow native app support, but the limitations of it will lead others to push their games on Steam for a low price, creating a new meta.
