Why haven't you ordered an Odin yet? What's your excuse?
Odin handheld system
>Odin
Let me guess, you NEED more?
Is that an ouya 2.0?
Laurel wreaths are Greek things.
The Deck does everything better
i did its never comming out
been delayed because of shitty lockdowns in China. It'll be out soon. They've already shipped out some units.
>The Deck does everything better
It's also $500+ more expensive.
What does this do? Is it an emulation machine? It looks sick
It is. And a very good one. It can play retro games and newer games. Even some Switch games with the right settings.
>It's also $500+ more expensive.
wow its so garbage the maker is paying people to take it?
The Steam deck is $500 more expensive than the Odin and the Odin can play the same kinds of games.
>The Odin is -$100
>ARM CPU
>Can play the same kinds of game
Doubt
Why on God's green Earth would I buy cheap Chinese garbage just because it can play some SNES roms
>Deckfags coping still over their waste of money.
OP's shit is pretty fucking retarded too when a PC can do all of this shit
>Muh portability
If you play video games outside your house you might as well just McFuccin' Kill Yourself.
>Why haven't you ordered an Odin yet? What's your excuse?
Spotty Wii performance, that would be the system I would want to emulate the most alongside Gamecube.
>The Deck does everything better
Except it's very big. As a Switch Lite enjoyer that just isn't my speed. Not to mention if I order it now, god knows how long the wait will be.
I am interested however interested in the Aya Neo Air. They are being coy about the final design until the announcement but picrel is it next to a Switch Lite.
It has an OLED screen, weighs only 420g, runs windows and will priced priced much more competitively including having low end models like the 64gb Deck.
Price and bad quality control is what kept me away from the Win 3, we'll see how this one turns out.
I have an RG351M if I was going to buy another handheld I would get a steam deck
your ancestors brought down the roman empire kys
There's no store page yet.
So right now I'm coping with my little Retroidp2+
I have a Miyoo Mini and after installing OnionsOS it pretty much does everything I wanted for a pocket emulator, and then some since PS1 works.
Since it does have weaker hardware than the Aya Neo Next/Deck they made a chart that shows how games run on it. The screen is 5.5" 1080p btw.
I have the rp2, the ergonomics are the worst I've tried on any handheld, the corners stab my hands and the right stick is garbage. don't know why no one talks about this, only reason I never bothered upgrading to the 2+.
>Mid May
Damn they better hurry up then
Because the 3DS, even the newest models, can't play SNES games without bad slowdown.
get a vita for snes an ps1 and a 3ds for the other Nintendo handhelds
Honestly never had any issues with mine on the control side.
If I remember correctly they had Quality control issues with the units. I was one of the original owners of the rp2, I got a good screen, a good Dpad.
>the corners stab my hands
I have bigger hands than you probably because I don't have that issue one bit.
Why would I even want to play SNES games on a handheld of all things
would honestly just prefer a steamdeck if i was looking for a portable device.
though if you're on a tight budget and the switch to too cucked, this is far from a bad option at all, especially if you don't mind needing to stream AAA games.
Because I already own all the games and systems I want and have a new set of system to play them anyway?
>but muh emulation!
It'll likely eventually be able to do that too in the future, but there's already patches for ROMs to make all the games you could care about work in their format anyway.
They sold like 80 million of these things so there is definitely a market.
>even the newest models,
>can't play SNES games
New 2DS and New 3DS run SNES just fine, don't talk out your ass. Dynamic recompile emulators on O3DS support most/all SNES games at full speed.
That one is a nice device. I hope they make a gbalike one with the similar small bezels. It looks nice.
Good lord the ergonomics of the original GBA were god tier. And I the only one who loves that football shaped device more than the abs101 sp
>linux gamer
based
Donate top their indiegogo and they'll send you a device for 35% cheaper.
Yeah for different reasons
>last bastion of 2D
>new titles at the time
>children aren't home 24 hours a day
Handhelds went from being practical to being a hipster gimmick during the Switch years it's ridiculous the amount of mental gymnastics people go through to justify buying Chinese plastic
I have my Rp2+ with my deck coming at the end of the year.
Yes, but I have man hands and did for the entirety of it's existence so of course I prefer the shape.
Switch is the first truly good one though since it's the only ones my hands cannot touch around the back of.
No xbox emulation...no jsrf
I'd love a clamshell design that can punch up to the PSX like the Mini.
That'd be my ideal for a portable handheld.
Funny, I got the Switch because it's the new bastion of 2D. It's been a magical experience, especially as a Metroidvania enjoyer.
>amount of mental gymnastics people go through to justify buying Chinese plastic
I want a dedicated emulator device
I want built in controls, a built in speaker/headphone jack, and a built in display that can play up to PS1
Do I pay for a Miyoo Mini that can hit all those checkpoints
Do I pay for a prepaid rice burner smartphone from Dollar General that does not have built in controls and is actually more likely to chug on PS1 than the Miyoo Mini
I got a Switch too for that very reason but indies just haven't hit that place for me at all so it just collects dust now if I'm not playing an old port or something
Wait, bigger version.
No you just buy a cheap Laptop like anybody else instead of forking over 200 dollars for a product that won't even last a year without a malfunction but it's your money do what you want just quit trying to get me to buy it
Based rp2+Chad
I've tested out all the shaders and I found the best ones that work with interger scaling off core scaling on.
>cheap Laptop
Show me this cheap laptop you had in mind and I might ignore that this is a much more expensive option by default than the Miyoo Mini or the rice burner smartphone
where do i get them?
A Miyoo Mini is $50 you fucking idiot. DUHHHH JUST PAY WAY MORE FOR A LAPTOP YOU FUKKIN SHILL
I wanted one but aren't these things like 700 dollar doos
RetroArch
>Dude why isn't everything cheap and weak like my switch
Bro. It's a premium price for a premium portable. Don't be cheap.
cuz I have a steamdeck. I don't see why I need another handheld device. Oh I do love my steamdeck.
keepretro.com
This is half the price of the cheapest option there. A laptop is a considerably worse option for your money if what you're wanting to do is emulate.
Odin lite - Sub $200 (before shiiping)
Odin Base - $240 (before shipping)
Odin Pro - $290 (before shipping)
I mean if you really want a screen that small I guess go for it you just asked for a better option for the money
If all I wanted to do was emulate literally everything under the sun I'd just use my PC built specifically for more intensive shit like that
>you just asked for a better option for the money
"A better option for the money" is not twice the price.
Which one is better value
how much is this shit going to be tho? like 1k?
It's also not the better option just because it's more compact if anything that's a hindrance
Not much. Around $600 which isn't bad.
My bet is some chinkshit phone with the new Snapdragon. The Odin things are Ouya-tier outdated hardware. Actually, scratch that, the Ouya was only outdated by a year at launch. These are 4 years outdated.
I got one of these and have entered an unironic "let me guess, you need more?" mode
Everything is so focused on squeezing fuckin Cyberpunk into 720P 30FPS or whatever but a curated GBA/SNES/Genesis/PS1 library literally feels like a lifetime supply of games
Lite. With the right settings it can be just as powerful as the base model. Get it with the 8gb RAM upgrade (extra $25) and you can possibly play some Switch games.
>CPU: SD845
The cpu from 2017? That's terrible cuz it is so old and weak. If you buy it, you got ripped off so hard.
id imagine this would be even better with steamOS,hopefully they will make the controls comparable, also hopefully it will have a gyro for aiming.
meant to say compatible, idk where comparable came from.
Sometimes
I got the extreme version of t his with those two Game & Watches, I got the Mario one to see what made one tick as an electronics project, peeled it apart, put it back together, then was engrossed for three days playing nothing but Super Mario Bros. Having a limited library really helps you sit the fuck down and play, choice paralysis is real.
These things are beautiful under the hood, by the way, very purpose-built and very tidy PCBs. They use a Joycon battery and I assume a 3DS speaker, just barely enough on-board flash memory to hold the ROMs that it plays, very good buttons, the d-pad is excellent, proper brushed metal faceplate and thick plastic shell. The Zelda one has a glossy plastic Triforce embossed into the back in thin plastic, just behind the screen, so when the screen is bright you get a glowing Triforce on the system.
The Snapdragon SD845 is better than most other CPUs being used today and in other handhels. The D900 too.
can a vita run ps1 games perfectly? that's the newest console i want to emulate and i don't trust these no name chinese consoles.
Wish they'd include the names of the games with this
It takes 6 months to ship. If I could buy one and get it next week I would.
You can also get a docking station with the Odin that you can plug in N64, Gamecube, and Xbox controllers into.
how else are they going to pretend they're cool than by gatekeeping indie games?
If it runs on PSP as an eboot it will run on Vita since it does the same thing there. As in literally the same thing, the reason Vita can play PS1 games is it's running a PSP's emulator.
I do not recommend buying a Vita unless you really like Muramasa, Dragon's Crown, Gravity Rush, and PS1 games. Beyond that you have a veritable storm of Underaged Panty Quest dungeon crawlers and some outdated indie game ports (ie Binding of Isaac or Terraria).
I don't know about perfectly but it's definitely done of the best PS1 emulator I've ever experienced.
nigga, i just said i just want to emulate ps1 games. no need to sperg.
I answered your question and also told you why I don't think you should buy one.
