I wouldn't say that series in particular is clickbait. He puts an impressive amount of time and effort into trying to articulate what these shovelware MMOs are about and fail at.
His clickbait comes from the routine uploads of faggy youtube drama over fake MMO grifts, and uploads pretending to apologize and be sincere when reddit gets angry that he insults their favorite niche game.
He used to be pretty entertaining, but the more popular he gets, the more pretentious and, for lack of a better term, "reddit-humor" he has.

Wurm is the only MMO that's actually any good. Most MMOs are just bad action games, Wurm lets you craft and build your entire universe.

How many “dead” mmos have really shut down though.

It's not. But, you have to realise that WoW basically fucked the entire genre. Every game became a template of that exact style of MMO. With a heavy focus on generic quests, primarily solo content and the only group content being dungeons.
It's frustrating to have the biggest voices in the MMO space be people who want to go back to the exact situation that killed the genre in the first place.

I disagree. I think internet culture has made it so some game communities choose to revolve themselves around internet personalities and I think every one that does is worse off for it. But I don't think games are inseparable from the personalities that pop up around them.

The only problem with Wurm Online is that Unlimited has nothing to offer to server hosts in way of lived in worlds. You can only host a blank slate map and that completely ruins the charm of having a fucking tremendous world to explore.
My role in the village I used to live in on Online was to travel the world with my shitty little sailboat and bring back endless amounts of valuable materials and items from the hundreds of abandoned towns and outposts that were scattered all over the word and to slay rare beasts that nobody had probably seen for months, if at all, and bring back their valuable parts.
I returned home from like an IRL-week-long journey one day and everybody revealed that they had secretly been building me a fucking caravel in the bay just down the coast from our village.
Wurm was fucking awesome and it was actually the greatest MMO of all time.

It's a review on core mechanics and overall game design. You don't need to play 1000 hours to tell of a game is good or not. If it sucks in the first few hours it'll suck at the 100th hour.
