>just now cracked 2M copies when FF7R hit 5M in a similar timespan, and Elden Ring hit 12M in the first month
How did that happen? Was it that it released the same week as Genshin’s Inazuma update?
Just now cracked 2M copies when FF7R hit 5M in a similar timespan, and Elden Ring hit 12M in the first month
I'm the only one who plays Tales
>Was it that it released the same week as Genshin’s Inazuma update?
As if that had any sway over Arise's sales
Arise is a bad game.
Story-wise, character-wise AND gameplay-wise
What are some action JRPGs you like?
>game from less popular series is less popular than games from more popular series
What a shocker. Tales of Arise selling 2 million is probably a much bigger win relative to expectations than FF7R and Elden Ring's sales.
7R was able to reach 5 million even with the big twist [nearly TLOU2-tier] revealed on day one.
Tales is still very niche, but it appears more popular than it is because of how vocal the jap fanbase is.
moar liek gayshit chinkpack
Arise is the only one I've played and remember probably?
I played FF6 as a young kid but barely remember it. I do remember liking it a fair lot though, and I don't even think I beat it
Be honest. Is Arise worth it?
You're right, just means that the FF7 fans are complete cucks who find it alright with being fooled
I love Shionne!
This is the best selling Tales game ever, OP.
Aren't those pretty great numbers for the franchise? I've always been turned off by how other Tales games looked but I loved Arise.
Yep, most Tales do not reach 1 million.
Short answer: yes
>remove stuff and features I like
>sells more than ever
this is how tales will be now. Great.
What's the long answer
Berseria was the peak of the franchise, it went downhill from there
Yes, it's worth it.
I know that Symphonia is a prequel to Phantasia, but how's the continuity of the series otherwise? Can you pick it up anywhere?
Berseria was garbage. Last good one was Vesperia.
Seems about right, the game is pretty bad. Don`t get me wrong, so is VIIR but FF, specially anything related to VII, is by far the more recognizable IP so it makes sense that it sells more. It still amazes me how SE can still capitalize on the fame and prestige they earned more than 20 years ago even though they clearly don`t have that level of proficiency anymore...
Spergria only had the combat and the graphics going on for it
Most of the characters were boring and so was the treehuger story
The character designs are boring, that's what did it for me
I liked how Alphen wears plate mail with a blue scarf and uses a traditional longsword, but Shionne kinda looks like a KMMO reject.
You can pick up any game that isn't a direct sequel (like Xillia 2). It's just like FF, Persona, SMT and literally every other fucking JRPG series.
On sale, yeah.
The game has 1/4 of the of budget and brand recognition as FF/ER you fucking retard. 2mil is great for a Tales game.
Why is Yea Forums so fixated about every game being a failure?
Not really, it falls off hard in the later half and the combat isn't that good compared to other Tales games. It's also loaded with DLC, I wouldn't pay more than $20 for it but you're still spending a lot of time on a mediocre title.
yeah but they spent more money than they usually do promoting Arise
It's clear that the objective here was to make Tales become mainstream instead of semiobscure weaboo niche games
No unless you find a good deal on it
And they got great returns too. Arise reached Berseria's 5 year sales in 7 months.
Once again, if you think the game selling less than FF/ER means it failed, you're retarded.
I'm very happy with my purchase.
I played both and also SMTV. FF7R was the best of those 3 but i went in knowing it was going to be a shit show so it didn't betray any expectations and I enjoyed the ride.
Don’t know why but this game is very average and I’m having trouble getting through it. I’ve never completed a tales game, it always feels like it’s like 60% good. It always seems to need another year of polish and fixing.
I have a coupon to get it for $65 instead of 70.
Tales games just aren't good, man. The world knows it.
Only ever played a few hours of Hearts R before, and played this one mostly because the graphics look nice and I'm into reverse engineering shader effects. It's not a bad game but it's just so safe and boring. There's no RPG systems to speak of. Weapons and armor are effectively just a linear upgrade path, and picking skills doesn't feel like making a build, it just feels like unlocking functionality the character's build was already designed around.
The whole game was just barely engaging enough to keep me playing without actually feeling like I was having fun. The visual effects are legitimately really cool though.
The first 3 hours was decent. It became a snooze fest after that. Also the part with over-the-shoulder camera was mega gay.
Big fat no, it's not worth the 60$
t. paid 60 bucks for it
>There's no RPG systems to speak of. Weapons and armor are effectively just a linear upgrade path, and picking skills doesn't feel like making a build, it just feels like unlocking functionality the character's build was already designed around.
Have you never played a JRPG before?
I played and enjoyed FF12 (the remaster with multiclassing was especially autism friendly), some Saga games, The Last Remnant and Rance X. So yes. Just because many of them are hardly RPGs doesn't mean that's part of the genre's identity. If we also count tactics RPGs even more so.
>alphen doesn't look like a kmmo reject
>stupid half eyepatch thing
>spiky ow the edge armor
Taleschad, we back.
Scarlet Nexus just recently hits 1 mil too.
Neither of them look KMMO because they don't have realistic style.
>Just because many of them are hardly RPGs doesn't mean that's part of the genre's identity
It's still like 80% of the genre though, so at the very least, you shouldn't be surprised.
FWIW I preferred 7R's combat but Reigning Slash simulator was still pretty entertaining outside of the last two dungeons. Interested in the next Tales game.
Scarlet Nexus has the best combat.
This, even though there is only two playable characters with party members as temporary power
I suppose, and a few years ago I probably wouldn't have been surprised. But after having played those other games it was kind of a shock to see this get the same label when it's really more of an action game that's spread out to RPG length than an actual RPG. I just cannot even place it in the same genre as those other games in my head, honestly. But you're right, a lot of the JRPGs I played as a kid were probably more on this level.
Because you are playing action RPG.
Considering this game has a fraction of the budget of both FF7R and elden ring, 2M is good.
2m is supposed to be good now?
Yes?
Most jap games are happy breaking 200k.
Tales has never been popular. They've never been able to surpass Symphonia 1 either.
Worth a torrent.
is Berseria any good? its only 8 dollars on Steam
They dont need to pay half their earns for blue hairs HR
Its plot is decent, but it really shines with character interactions. No character feels like the fifth wheel. Its combat is a bit lackluster, and playing as the main character can give you the impression that the combat is just mashing all thanks to her special ability.
You only play heavily marketed AAA trash?
For this series, very good. Learn about Sales expectations user.
Yeah, it's pretty good.
Everyone is a weeb now.
