I didn't think anyone in Xenoblade 1 looked like any particular ethnicity.

They could've just made healers have a mode where their heals are limited to their specials for better dps potential. They fucked up Nia by refusing to go all in that direction by giving her the best ether cannon and knuckle claws. They also fucked up healing class blades by refusing to allow for a risky healer path for the majority of those blades.

They balance it out by having them not only heal but do other support things, like buff allies and probably debuff enemies. Nothing wrong with making healers near mandatory in a party if they make them interesting to play with/as.
