anyways let us talk about va-11 hall-a in the meantime. >post favorite song youtube.com/watch?v=nJ5_-pINV0k >favorite female character sei, contrary to the image. all i had on hand. >favorite male character donovan
despite there being fairly little exposure to the world outside the bar or jill's room, the worldbuilding and atmosphere of it is really neat. id love to know/experience more about it.
what the fuck why would they start working on a game and just put it on hiatus to start even more games??? autism

something about the way j.k. draws eyes is really alluring to me

I started every night with this song youtube.com/watch?v=5eQ7IGfGoKM and I keep doing this whenever I start drinking, very comfy
Jonathan Rogers
speaking of drinking, is it just my autism or do i heavily associate certain games with certain drinks or vice versa ? i was drinking lots of manhattans and bloody marias when i played va-11 hall-a. next time i play it i feel like i gotta do it again for nostalgia's sake. yes i get nostalgia over relatively new things.

Venezuelan garbage

why do you purposefully enter threads about games you dislike
Ethan Butler
>zero hourglass expansion art

Seems one of the devs go WOKE as fuck and wanted to change every single thing about the project to worse
A fucking shame really, at leats we can see the other game he's working on (a MGS clone with waifus named PROJECT D)
I mean, you can be woke to an extent with some concepts/ideas (like va-11 hall-a, which i love) or you can be WOKE like Tumblr levels with bullshit nonsense
Why is Nirvanna's artstyle less visually appealing than Vallhallas?
Oliver Thompson
it's like the other user said, there's a difference between being open about stuff and being a tumblrina, and one of the devs went they/them so you can take a guess which way that was going
Landon Young
>so you can take a guess which way that was going valhalla already had a they/them character. i'm curious what you think would have made the sequel too woke.
yes but that's also literally a brain in a jar, gender doesn't matter that much at that point. the writer also also drank the "believe all women" koolaid and were supporting comfy in that stupid fight knight "he hypnotized me and raped me" drama
Cameron Roberts
It's a little weird to see YIIK mentioned as a retro classic in this game, I know it's because they share publishers or whatever but it's kind of funny. Maybe it gets better updates in the future
Bentley Williams
what? im not the guy you were replying to but wat. i swear to god ever time i click on a thread for a game i used to like i am treated to a million fucking new developments of drama involving the devs.
all i know is the original dev(s?) were some fucking venezuelans starving in their shithole country and trying to get out using the success of the game but then werent allowed to leave by the government or something.
what happened now? mind giving me a rundown?
Jordan King
>the writer also also drank the "believe all women" koolaid and were supporting comfy in that stupid fight knight "he hypnotized me and raped me" drama
fuck me, I didn't know that. N1rvanna is never coming out then.
Let's hope Project D has the same quality as Va-11 hall-a
went more down a generic anime route instead of keeping the fairly unique style also the pink haired big titted protag's design is... pretty meh.
Josiah Rodriguez
that's just the writer though and is the one who is no longer involved with sukeban. kiririn has always seemed more normal
the original game was made by two dudes in venezuela, a writer/programmer and an artist. they made a bunch of money off the game and afaik are now out of the country. a while ago there was a blog post that the game was going to be indefinitely delayed because of "creative differences" with the story. no new announcements have been made since, but if you look at the company page on their site, the original writer/programmer is no longer listed as being part of the company and he later came out as they/them on twitter. as far as the fight knight drama, that's a whole 'nother story and there's a lot of crazy shit, but it basically boils down to an /agdg/ regular who is insane and has attached herself to and ruined multiple games in the past pulled the same stunt with a game called fight knight, the dev showed a bunch of receipts showing she's nuts and was accusing him of hypnotizing people and causing covid and she'd decided he'd raper her because she had nightmares about it and shit like that, obviously discrediting her. but because she is a woman on the internet with a mental illness, everyone rushed to her defense, including the ex-writer/programmer

jesus christ i just wanted to discuss comfy games, had no idea there was so much shit involved. interested and disturbing. well at least the mentally ill freak is off the team. pretty sure i was his friend on steam a long time ago while va-11 hall-a was being made or had just released, his name was Lark or something. the artist goes by kiririn51, he makes nice art. this was one of his designs for an adult Gaby
christ thats pathetic, thanks getting me caught up on the bs user. its really a shame the creator went full on they/them, vallhalla was great. i think girl worship leads weak or vulnerable men into the rabbit hole of woke shit and "believe wahman" cultism. and vallhalla did have a lot of "I LOVE GIRLS SO MUCH ITS UNREAL" vibes.
Daniel Mitchell
yes, ironiclark would be the now they/them writer programmer who is no longer connected to sukeban. I'm blocked by him on twitter despite never interacting with him, possibly just because I made a tweet saying I played fight knight and liked it
Leo Nelson
>let us talk about va-11 hall-a in the meantime theres literally nothing to talk about va-11 hall-a on a videogames board because it's a fucking visual novel with shitty writing and a dumb drinking mini game added on. Yiik gets shit on but at least it's an actual video game you can talk about instead of cooming over which is the only value va-11 hall-a has
Andrew Flores
Main character was a lesbian girl. Of course it was a tranny's self insert. vallhalla always rubbed me the wrong way, and to this day I can't comprehend how it became as popular as it was, when the plot was boring and the gameplay stupid. Shame since the soundtrack's great and I love cyberpunk as a genre.
Anthony Jones
kiririn is cool and I got him to draw a big titty stella back when the game first came out
I still appreciate he actually drew a Jill lewd to pay out on the bet he made for total sales numbers. He gets at least some street cred in my book for that.
Jacob Sullivan
honestly i think it was because it had a relaxed vibe, and like you said a good soundtrack in a cyberpunk setting just drew people in. i remember unwinding and having a drink while playing the game on weekends, it was chill.
Fair, we never got a lot of merch which is kinda sad. They still update their porn/lewd twitter account at least, that thing sees more action than any of the other official channels combined.
>They still update their porn/lewd twitter account at least, that thing sees more action than any of the other official channels combined. the lewd one doesn't get updated near as much as the sfw one. they retweet big batches of art pretty much every day or two
Juan Harris
Can you link?
Jacob James
>when the FUCK is n1rvanna coming out? >He still thinks it's coming out
Ethan Harris
Fairly warned, it's not exactly top tier porn quality you're hoping for, but it official porn for what it's worth.
>pretty sure they have a new guy or something, so its fine based still wish we had more news, tho
Sebastian Campbell
tldr It plays fine (if a bit basic), has likeable characters and great art/music but the story is iffy and it's pretty easy. I liked it a lot but it's a game I'd recommend with caveats. It's basically divided into two separate parts, with the 3D exploration stuff and the locked side-scrolling action stuff. Both are solid but nothing really outstanding. The 2D stuff plays well though combat starts pretty basic. You eventually unlock some basic juggling and parrying that makes it more interesting. It never gets very challenging though, and even if you run into a tough enemy you can just power through with the plentiful health items you get. 3D stuff is also pretty simple, just running around talking to NPCs or finding items for crafting/upgrades. These parts feel like a simplified version of an old adventure game minus the puzzles. The story is okay but told pretty poorly, with a lot of it left vague or in hints from the multiple notes/e-mails you can read. The characters are mostly likeable although they aren't very developed. Ayane (pink haired sidekick) can get annoying though. It has a great OST and atmosphere, and that's probably the biggest strengths. It also took me approx 15-17 hours to 100%.
Came back for the collab. Too bad it was a limited timed event since the story felt like a mini sequel to the original game, at least the Vallhalla half. The other half with the gacha was literal fucking gibberish I couldn't care to begin to understand.
