I only ever played 4.1 and 2012(???).
And yeah, 4.1's co-op is ridiculously fun and playing 2012 for the first time years ago with that mission where hordes of alien space ships come for you at once has been engraved into my mind, especially the frame drops.

I also wanted to ask what's the general consensus on what the best EDF game is so far?

Love it, wish there was a bigger budget version for more of everything its already doing, theres no denying that it looks like a PSP game and the way it handles unlocks is obtuse and not very fun, Im sure there's a better way to handle that.

Its sad that games like this dont live long in the multiplayer, when these games are active they are incredible.

6 finally got a release date, end of August in Japan

They were never "random", the old ones were just related to D3 Publisher's other franchises that saw fuck all representation outside of Japan so they were essentially generic anime characters to most players.

Didn't the EN release of World Brothers come out only a month or so after the JP release? They've been improving the translation speed pretty good but I also can't remember if World Brothers' translation was sped up with the assistance of Sony's localization team and if this game would be their own in-house efforts again like with 5 or if they'd get help.

I would be satisfied if we could mod EDF5, but then they wouldn't be able to shit out new games and pretend like its new so we'll never have that.

It's been the standard low effort complaint since forever.
5 also seemed like a copy of 4, but once you play it you realize the ant models are more detailed and the damage models and blood splashes are way better as well.
The truth is that there have been constant upgrades to everything, it's just that hey aren't so major that they instantly stand out.

There has been many new info drops on EDF6, but people barely made any threads about it, compared to constant threads about the actually popular games.
Yes, on release it has a big player base for the first few months, but the franchise is nowhere near popular to sustain threads by itself if there's no active playerbase.
