Halo

What do I think of it? Wanna get my opinion right so I don't look cringe in front of Yea Forums

1 to 3 are masterpieces
ODST is ok
Reach is cringe
343i games are shit, worse than reach

infinite gameplay is nice, still lackluster in everything that made halo great.

It's okay. If it released in 2012 it would be a major disappointment. Since it released recently it's one of the better FPS games available.

Better than 4 and 5 but still abysmal. Stay away.

I've never played 3's mp. Do the online servers still work on MasterChef Collection?

I don't really care what you think of it, I enjoyed the campaign, that's more than I can say about a series whose campaigns I haven't enjoyed since Halo 3 in 2007.

>1 is masterpiece
>3 is cringe
please take your nostalgia glasses off before posting

Yes, 3 is the most active one currently.

Literally a dead game, the 343 devs are actually unbelievably incompetent. The people running the business side have all the talent as they continue to get huge payouts from Microsoft to make products that continue to flop and kill their IP.

1 is good
2 sucks, arbiter sucks
3 is ok
odst and reach are fine, contrarians think they're cool to shit on them
that vr porn demo with cortana is a masterpiece

I like reach:(

>Reach is cringe
I'm out. Faggy niggy.

>343i games are shit, worse than reach
NPC opinion

They released it without the most basic core feature to be considered a Halo game. Co-op campaign.

The game is not worth playing until you can play it with a friend.

No amount of money would ever make me play a 343 game again.

Infinite released with less content than CE but the time it took 343 to make Infinite is the time it took Bungie to make CE, 2 and most of 3. I don't even care if they add co-op at this point, too late ain't playing it.

I'd buy it on sale for a maximum of 50% off.

Daily reminder this shit was done in a year. Who knows where they wasted their time or why they scrapped a whole fucking game for this. Imagine how fucking bad it had to be for this to be an improvement.

>overall content notes
>-F2P Multiplaer
???

It's barebones compared to previous entries

Even in a year where every other shooter dropped the ball it still doesn't stand out. Halo 5 was better in every way, but nobody played the damn thing because you had to own an Xbone.

hi Cheef fag
Reminder everyone likes 2 you are just autistic

Infinite has the better campaign, but that isn't saying much.

I disagree. Halo 5 was gay as hell for going with I, Robot by way of The Fugitive as its plot, but at least it had some ambition. It could've gone somewhere if 343 had any balls at all and stuck to their guns, but instead Infinite decided to be The Force Awakens. Really that lack of ambition is what damns Infinite for me more than anything.

I don't care about the plot, I just hated fighting fucking prometheans as well as the same boss like 3 times.

Not him but
>Prometheans
>those shitting Forerunner weapons and vehicles
>crap art style
>gameplay is shit
>AI is trash
>Hunters are ruined
>low ammo
>ruined sandbox
>extremely short levels
>ruined Master Chief and Cortana's personalities further than Halo 4 already did
>Warden Eternal
>Covenant serve no purpose
>story and lore is complete ass that they love shoving down your throat
>all the characters suck
>play Chief for like 30% of the game while you spend 80% of the game as this Locke guy
>no Marines
Halo 5 is worse than even Halo 4, you're a borderline retard if you claim it or 4 have better campaigns than Infinite. Halo 5 is so bad that you almost want to stop playing the campaign the moment you start it. It also didn't didn't look, feel, play, or sound like Halo at all. I was also tired of the Covenant, Flood, and Cortana storyline being put on replay mode after Bungie already finished it in Halo 3 and the deconstruction of the Master Chief, why did he need to change?

Infinite has the best Halo gameplay since 3, but is pretty barebones in terms of maps and modes. I don't know why it's taking them this fucking long, but the game is going to be genuinely excellent in like 10 months

Where did this gameplay meme come from? it plays like a generic modern shooter with an arena twist. Literally Halo 5 lite.

>default melee control is clicking R3 stick

out of the whole dumpster fire that is this game, this annoyed me the most

dumb boomer

1-3 are masterpieces and you should play them. Kino story that is wrapped up nicely. Best gameplay, best levels, best everything.

ODST is good but pretty short and the story isn't super memorable. It's more about the experience and being a different pace than the other games since you don't play as a spartan.

Reach is good IMO. Story and atmosphere was very good, its mainly the gameplay and the multiplayer where Reach fails.

Halo 4 is a painful experience. Prometheans aren't fun to fight nor are they interesting. You constantly run out of ammo due to them being bullet sponges as well as weapons consuming even more ammo in this game. You can't even get through a few enemies without running out of ammo. Artstyle changes strive massively from the previous games and is generally considered to be uglier. Halo 4 had good music and some people like how it made Chief more of a character.

Halo 5 doubled down on all of Halo 4's issues. However this time you don't play as Master Chief throughout most of the game. You play as Locke who is a much weaker and more forgettable character. Main plot of the game completely ruins Halo 4's ending and really fucks up the story in general. If you like shooters with advanced movement, Halo 5 caters to that but you're better off just playing the multiplayer instead. The multiplayer can be enjoyable if you're into advanced movement.

Halo Infinite returns somewhat to the series roots. Fixing the artstyle and returning to a Master Chief centric story. They threw out Halo 5's story and put in a new story that plays it way too safe so it isn't controversial. If Halo 5 had a bad story, Halo Infinite has a disappointing story where nothing interesting happens or gets resolved. Most of the game is spent traversing the same green valleys and hills in the open world which can get boring, there's no diverse environments or biomes. It's alright, but it could've been a much better game if they tried.

dev leaks came out
>in 2017 Halo Infinite was being prototyped as a Hero shooter

I play MCC and stick for melee is the dumbest default choice

literally beat Halo 3 couple days ago you're a nigger. Best single-player sandbox.

Chief isn't a character in Halo 4, Halo 4 is an example of devs and retards that claim he gained a character with that trash not understanding the character he already had. Infinite thankfully fixed this problem. If anything, Chief was massively out of character in Halo 4.

chief talks a lot in infinite too. it's just that they combined both bungie and 343 chief together so you don't notice it as much.

The prometheans were rebalanced to actually be something besides bullet sponges which already puts 5 above 4 on that alone. Halo having some weapons and vehicles suck ass didn't start with or end with 5 - see the spectre and the needler on any real difficulty.

I'm really not sure how to respond to most of your criticism. You just called things bad or shit without qualifying your statements. What about the gameplay is even different in 5, let alone different enough to make it bad? The only differences I can think of are aiming down sights being possible with every weapon (which didn't break balance as much as people feared because the pistol was the best weapon in the game even before 343 released the "balance" patch that just made everything else shit) and Spartan abilities which are totally optional and so situational that you're better off just shooting things. Which is still an option and feels the same as ever.

>I was also tired of the Covenant, Flood, and Cortana storyline being put on replay mode after Bungie already finished it in Halo 3 and the deconstruction of the Master Chief
And so you're sucking off Infinite, the campaign which is based around fighting the not-covenant with the looming threat of the not-flood held together by a deconstruction of the chief contextualized through him being outright teamed up with Cortana again?

The game has absolutely everything going for it yet 343 can't seem to get its stuff together.

That was the best thing they did since I like Infinite Chief vs whatever the hell that was in Halo 4 and 5.

>Halo CE
Good, god-tier for the time, still holds up but shows its age.
>Halo 2
Best campaign in the series, based arbiter levels, easily best locations and single missions in the series.
>Halo 3
Wraps up the story nicely, the peak of the game is The Covenant, where it feels like you are frantically scrambling to prevent the end of the world. The following two levels, IMO, are a great epilogue from that moment.
>ODST
Stellar side-campaign, really liked the atmosphere, but it was a bit short and kinda repetitive. I wasn't the biggest fan of Firefight, mainly because they forced Black Eye... so lolfuckyou difficulty spike.
>Halo: Reach
The beginning of the end. I hated it when it released, but playing it again, I realized it's actually quite good. Best design in the series, grounded visuals and incredibly diverse spartan customization. Firefight was GOAT; you cannot get a better, more customizable wave-based mode IMO. Multiplayer was bad, but it actually got better with the Title Update, the reduction in bloom and rebalancing of the armor abilities was needed and brings the multiplayer to a good place right now.
>Halo 4
Contrary to popular opinion, the campaign was a good story between Chief and Cortana. The villains and side characters were kinda whatever, but the final scene will still get me every time. Fuck the multiplayer, fuck spartan ops, all of that was shitgarbage.
>Halo 5
And we flip the script. Campaign was complete dog shit, butchered fan favorite characters, and left the franchise and canon in ruins. This is what happens when you let capeshit writers out of their containment bubble. Multiplayer was fantastic, but the designs were terrible and only got good when they started bringing back the old stuff. Warzone FF was whatever.
>Halo: I
Campaign was completely okay, not nearly as bad as 5. Multiplayer would be GOAT if it had literally any support at all. 343 are a joke developer of hundreds that can't make more than 2 maps in a year.

>The prometheans were rebalanced
And they still sucked.
>Halo having some weapons and vehicles suck ass didn't start with or end with 5 - see the spectre and the needler on any real difficulty
Yet it has some of the worst next to Halo 4.
>What about the gameplay is even different in 5, let alone different enough to make it bad?
It does not feel like a Halo game.
>And so you're sucking off Infinite, the campaign which is based around fighting the not-covenant with the looming threat of the not-flood held together by a deconstruction of the chief contextualized through him being outright teamed up with Cortana again?
Yes because the Covenant are dead and the Banished aren't the Covenant nor do they follow their ideologies, the Flood aren't being repeated just to make Halo 1-3 again but without the soul, and the tired Cortana storyline about her rampancy is finally put to rest while Chief is back to being a complete badass again over his annoying Halo 4/5 counterpart.

Halo 4's campaign and that includes the story was pretty gay and cringy.

There was some news recently that a lot of time got wasted early on because 343 were still fixated on chasing trends. There was a fair bit of looking into possible hero shooter mechanics for the multiplayer due to Overwatches popularity at the time.

>Warzone FF
Extremely fun, the REQ packs were excellent, you could grind the points out for free or pay if youre impatient, versus Infinite where I have to buy a pass for the glory of grinding the rewards? Fuck that

>the Covenant are dead and the Banished aren't the Covenant nor do they follow their ideologies
Oh, come the fuck on. What is the practical difference between the banished and the covenant? Put aside the lore and it's the same group of aliens as ever who are on the same genocidal campaign of conquest as ever who seek the same superweapon as ever for the same reason as ever. The only difference is some implied alliance with the endless, and we still don't even know what the hell they are besides plot filler for a campaign that otherwise accomplishes absolutely nothing but establish that the last ten years of Halo don't matter and we're back to square one with a soft reboot.

and they’re wasting time now, also chasing trends. Oh well

>Halo 2
>Best campaign in the series, based arbiter levels, easily best locations and single missions in the series.
Gravemind is the greatest filter of all time you can instantly know if someones opinions are dog shit based on if their opinion is anything other then Gravemind is the best level Halo 2.
>Multiplayer was fantastic, but the designs were terrible and only got good when they started bringing back the old stuff. Warzone FF was whatever.
Yeah it was great biggest issue is it wasn't fucking Halo. Honestly above all else that is the biggest take away from 343 games are they even Halo or just Halo esc. I would compare it to Fear 1 then the rest of the series.

The Banished want power and galactic conquest while I also like how they tend to fight differently from the Covenant while being more aggressive, well even Sentinels are more aggressive in Infinite. I like how they use more than just their weapons to kill you, it's a nice touch and feels like a change of pace from muh Great Journey for 5 games when that storyline already ended in Halo 3. Halo 4 and 5 truly felt like creative bankruptcy.

it's pretty good but i hate zoomers who say that it's the best halo of all time just because it was the first one they played.

Anyone pretending the Banished are anything other then an OC donut steal faction from the first well received Halo game in nearly a decade are fooling themselves.

Better than Halo 4 and 5's shitty rendition of the Covenant.

this
>elites are back because..?
>they are just back ok? nanomachines or something

>its mainly the gameplay and the multiplayer where Reach fails.
Reach MP has a lot of messy issues that make it frustrating at best in a competitive sense, but it still managed to be fun. Thanks to a lot of the bullshit you could goof around a bit more and still get away with it.

>Better than Halo 4 and 5's shitty rendition of the Covenant.
So better than literally nothing got it

just bought mcc and it's kind of overwhelming

a lot of modes and unlockable stuff and everything. where do i even start with multiplayer

>Halo 4 and 5 truly felt like creative bankruptcy.
I won't argue against that; any plot, executed well or not, would have been creative bankruptcy considering the series had a satisfactory conclusion with 3. But the point I've been trying to make is that I'll respect bad over nothing, and nothing is exactly what we have with infinite.

You say the banished want power and conquest, but those aren't motivations unto themselves. If my one and done Infinite playthrough memory serves, their stated motivation is that they want to surpass the covenant. They want to prove that their strength never came from lies from the hovering kyphosis lizards but from themselves. The problem is that this is the kind of motivation you have for a tragic villain, a villain so deep into sunk cost fallacy and so damaged from the abuse that exploring that downfall is what makes it interesting. Contrast that with what we get in Infinite. We have a bunch of one-track mind meatheads led by a dude with COPD and a fetish for edgy monologues. There's nothing here that makes the banished interesting.

i only started playing halo last year and i thought halo: ce was fucking amazing
i went in thinking "Baby's first fps" and i found a literal pc game in terms of depth and level of polish. The AI is astoundingly good, the sandbox gameplay feels fresh. It really deserves the praise.

3 or Reach because you will absolutely booty blasted by CE and 2 players. Especially 2 players. 3 and Reach are full of the most casual players with the occasional sweats. Truth is though getting into Halo multiplayer in current year is gunna be an uphill battle.

Attached: image0 (1).jpg (1080x1520, 241.27K)

just play for fun. you won't be the next ogre 2.

They're interesting to me, they really don't need to be complicated, just bad guys that want to wipe out humanity and conquer the galaxy. I like that 343 made them feel huge, something they failed at with the Covenant in Halo 4 and 5. It feels like the Banished are the true successors to Halo 1-3's Covenant. Infinite's campaign revitalized the series since it's the only campaign that 343 have done that truly pushes to move on with the series instead of sticking to the past plotwise. Halo 4 and 5 felt more like 343 insulting Bungie's work over making a sequel to it.

The baby's first FPS meme came around a while ago. Boomer shooter fans are still salty about Halo even 20 years later. Halo marked the turn in the market where everyone wanted to be Halo so they stopped catering to them. They like to forget things like counter strike, swat and Rainbow six were around back then, Truth is the AAA market has always been money grubbing jews with little creativity and time and time again we see them chasing trends. Current year its battle royale before early access survival games before that CoD clones and etc. Halo got the raw end of the deal from a generation of shooter fans used to being catered to and its pretty surprising they blame Halo because nothing even plays remotely like the original 3 games even 20 years later.

>tfw halo killed itself instead of sony making yet another halo ""killer""

Pretty much its whats really sad about Halo trying to "evolve" and seeing retards parrot the line that Halo needs to or that it needs BR. Halo is never going to be the chart topper it once was its never going to fill times square again. But it has a dedicated fan base that 343 has time and time again completely ignored and rejected for trend chasing instead of catering to the core and letting the core expand. Their whole handling of movement mechanics is probably the biggest example of how creatively bankrupt they are, despite the fact Halo fans have been crying for their removal since Reach the idea that it might alienate nu fans keeps them in. Halo died by trying not to be Halo but be every other shooter.
