Why is it that only Japanese game directors and writers are well known while the only western ones outside of maybe Gabe are known purely because they are the butt of a joke like Todd Howard or Peter Molyneux. Miyazaki, Nomura, Kojima, and Yoko Taro are all individuals with fans willing to defend against any criticism regardless of how valid while people can barely name a well known western director/writer
Japanese vs western devs

Druckman mogs them all
Isn't that guy only known as the weirdo who ruined a multi million $ franchize with TLOU 2?
cope
Japan is more about having big names who promote themselves that's why Kojima puts his name 15 times in the opening credits of any game he makes
Here you go, the reason, only Jews are allowed to do that and since nepotism doesn't work they are instantly hated and then watch as they cry in pain while they strike you.
I'm not agreeing with it I merely wish to know why western developers do not create the same cult like fans as Japanese do. Even ignoring the weebs surely the west has people of equal eccentricity and charisma right?
that pic pretty much sums it up
now eat up ze buggu culturu gaijin-kun!
Because they get praise even when they say blatantly untrue shit about the games they make, whereas shitty western games get rightfully dumpstered. You think any other company could make an action game full of near 1-shots with the primary defensive option having a 7 frame input delay? How about a company so incompetent that they release the game with so many performance issues that it can't even run at a stable FPS? People make fun of Bethesda's buggy garbage and re-using Gamebryo, but From has been using the same piece of shit engine since Demon's Souls.
Used to be, with creators of Doom, Warcraft, Civilization, Prince of Persia etc. No good games are allowed to be made in the West nowadays though, I don't know if you have noticed.
I wonder why... could it be... the ****?
>How about a company so incompetent that they release the game with so many performance issues that it can't even run at a stable FPS
That's literally all Bethesda games ever released on consoles.
It's those damn secularizing agents! They couldn't possibly be tied to a religion, they are secular! The guy on the news told me so.
Todd Howard is considered by most a legendary creator, le lies meme is secondary to that
But overall people know more japanese directors names because more japanese games are amazing enough for people to take notice
Western games are made by studios with no vision.
The stuttering was annoying but easily ignorable and the fact that I played 80 with only 3 crashs (all trying to do multiplayer) and 2 bugs (which was the floating on top of torrent one) easily places it as the most stable non-nintendo aaa release in the last 5 years
Because western companies switch directors around instead of sticking with one with a single lead. They also can have multiple teams working on multiple entries with completely different directors
No one has genuinely thought Todd Howard was a decent creator since fallout 4
Because you are an anglogermcuck living in an anglogermcuck crab bucket and don’t have any unique worldviews
It's a cultural thing. Japan likes to do the 'Directed by Hideki Kamiya' thing and will gladly plaster it all over their advertisements. Meanwhile in the west people like to push the 'it was a team effort' thing. Even Warren Spector who naturally became very popular for his work as director pushed back hard against all the credit he was being given.
Devs like Ubisoft, Arkane, Valve, Id, Bethesda, and Rockstar all shit on Japanese game designers. From’s only good game is Sekiro.
Because Japan has this rockstar culture and deferential fascination of people interwoven in their culture for eons, even if it's intentionally overblown or embellished. It's also simply good marketing.
Miyazaki is a great example, as he only joined From Software in 2009 and doesn't even have remotely the effect on their games as they led people to believe, From Software making quasi-Dark Souls games since King's Field.
Namco has shown yet again that they are real experts when it comes to understanding and utilizing this marketing tool whent hey hired R.R. Martin for Elden Ring.
Valve, Id, and Arkane maybe but the rest are complete shit Ubisoft and Bethesda hasn't released a non broken game in nearly a decade
Actual reason is that Japan is behind in the life cycle of game companies. That's not a statement on game quality but rather just how the producers are organized.
>Early Life: Very small teams, games will often have a single person viewed as the "creator"
>Mid Life: Companies start to grow in size. New names don't emerge because it's more of a team effort. Older names become less frequently used
>Late Life: Games are now credited almost entirely to a company. Named individuals are extreme rarities
West is at the start of late life while Japan is at the end of mid life. Notice how companies like Nintendo are starting to reduce the visibility of individual directors. Only a few exceptions like Sakurai remain.
>Jew
Probably not a coincidence, given that Jews and many Japanese believe in a shared ancestry
>western devs
>insert political propaganda
>blame players for not liking it
>jap devs
>insert their fetishes
>everyone happy
>That's literally all Bethesda games ever released on consoles.
And? From can never his stable FPS either, on any console. SotFS and ER after a few patches runs on hardware that just brute forces their shit code, and ER still gets drops due to spell effects and during summons.
Your anecdote doesn't matter. The game was so buggy on release that walking at the wrong time while blocking could launch you into another zone. On top of that some quests straight up didn't finish properly until ten days ago. People still don't know if they're all actually working since Tanith just parks her ass in Rykard's room and repeats the same fucking line over and over even when you give her the item you're told to.
This, they just love giving everything a face and a character
It's a cultural thing, any praise or ire towards a product is placed on the supervisor in charge. The West has thankfully grown past this
>Miyazaki is a great example, as he only joined From Software in 2009
wait wat
Works on my machine ;)
There are hundreds of streams of the game with little to no signs of bugs, not my fault people are trying to play on toasters. I only have a 2070 super and I easily stay at 60fps with rare stutters same for all the streams I've seen of it. I will agree on the quest lines but again that still places ER above any other AAA release
>R.R. Martin
Literally what did he even do? All the writing seemed typically Miyazaki
Metacritic and plenty of news articles disagree while any articles about performance for ER are instantly overlooked by the games quality
Point is, ER runs well enough for people to ignore the frame drops or at least not be too bothered by them. I personally play the game on an xbox series X with VRR enabled and it's a very smooth experience. Haven't had a single bug either in over 150h of playtime. Sure, it sucks that From still uses a garbage engine that can't hit a locked 60 fps, but 50-55 fps feels perfectly fine to me with VRR enabled and I can overlook it considering the game itself is amazing. I wouldn't overlook it in a Bethesda game because their games are generally much lower quality.
>Point is, ER runs well enough for people to ignore the frame drops or at least not be too bothered by them
No? It runs like fucking shit even on my high end PC because of its cache bug freezes
western devs are a bit more humble and can admit a game is a team effort and that directors are usually just idea guys. in japan they either want to blame a failure on one guy or credit a success to one guy
It's your fault for playing the PC version.
western games are largely designed by committee nowadays. bloated bureaucratic structure as a result of too much corporate interference with game direction
It runs fine on my 1050ti. Either you're exaggerating or your high-end PC has a malfunction of some sort.
LIke I said I get 60fps on high with just a 2070 super and a ryzen 9 3900x
the incest, incest, self fucking and gay incest
also a character that eats shit
You see user, political propaganda IS westoids fetish.
>not my fault people are trying to play on toasters.
Your system literally didn't matter.
I think the language barrier has something to do with it. People unironically think Fromsoft is some poor quirky indie company of 30 people from japan so they're more willing to excuse technical faults in their games. Bethesda is seen as a mega corporation when in reality their games have always had a modest budget and they roughly have the same number of employees that Fromsoft has. Bethesda has largely avoided the rapid expansion that other big dev studios go through to keep the company "in the family" but they don't get any of the leeway.
Doesn't help that their games are all exposed to modders so people feel justified in shitting on them when some randos on nexus make a patch that fixes all the bugs in the game for free
Then what causes the apparently random differences in stability between players?
>PC
That's your problem right there. The game works fine on consoles. I've been playing on PS4 Pro since day minus one and haven't experienced any stuttering or bugs at all. There are some locations with FPS drops due to transparency effects, but that's pretty much it.
I have a 1050ti and other than the very slow (and understandably) start-up the game runs flawlessly, more than 120 hours and the issues are asinine.
Todd hasn't put out anything since FO4, so...
At last I truly see. It all makes sense now.
Literally no one knows why it ran like shit for some people and ran fine for others.
I have the PS4 Pro version and it barely even hits 50fps. During some boss fights it tanks to 30.
He was still credited as director for 76
I have a 1060 3GB. The game runs fine enough to enjoy, but it could be a lot better. As of 1.0.4, sometimes it will freeze for a few seconds and frametimes are a bit all over the place. I've also had a few crashes during said freezes but the autosave usually save me from losing too much. The game just runs worse than the visuals suggest it should.
All the replies to this post and others that stemmed from it are just solidifying this statement more and more
>The game works fine on consoles.
kek, no
it "runs best" on the PS5 running the PS4 version of the game, and it still can't consistently hit 60fps
Why is it acceptable that the PC version runs that much worse? I get that there will be some difference due to console versions being more optimized, but is it really too much to ask for decent frametimes and less freezing?
>Why is it acceptable that the PC version runs that much worse?
Because it's a Fromsoft game and I love the taste of their cum in my mouth.
You're vastly overestimating how much influence Yea Forums has. Normies love Todd no matter how much of a cunt he is.
If anyone made a joke song like mocking Miyazaki, normies would flay them alive
youtube.com
>he only joined From Software in 2009
He joined in 2004
>they don't get any of the leeway
I remember when Skyrim flopped because it was a buggy mess. Poor western devs.
Difference is that Skyrim can be fixed with mods and the command prompt. Elden Ring is at the mercy of the dev's incompetency.
