Play persona 5

>Play persona 5
>Like it enough to call it one of my favorite JRPGs
>Persona 4 releases on Steam
>Play it
>It's much better than P5
>Could have played it 12 years earlier than I did

What games am I going to play in 12 years that I could have been playing now, but didn't realize they were good? Like I saw you guys making threads about this game for years but just ignored them, so what else is flying under my radar right now?

Rapelay.

Is P4 good on PC?

Same and now I'm playing Persona 3 FES and doing a max social link run. I would just do that if I were you man. Better than 5 for sure and a great game like 4

Not OP but I played it with my dualshock 4 on PC and it was totally good. There are some resolution options and stuff

I prefer P3 to P4 so give that a shot, OP.
Runs like butter on emulator, even on a toaster.
And DON'T get the party control mod unless you're a massive shitter. It trivializes the game.

I played all of the games in release order and 4 is the worst game, especially the Golden version. 5 and 3 are better in evey way.

maybe you'll develop some actual taste in games in another 12 years

Undertale or something

popular opinion circulated around here is that golden is trash
and you know how Yea Forums's opinion goes around these days
it's a great game, give it a try, the port is specially good for such an old game

Thanks user. I'll give it at try.

Nothing can beat the atmosphere in Persona 4 for me. Its so awesome. Persona 5 is gameplay wise better but holy fuck does the Tokyo shit make it feel pretty shit in the long run

I can definitely see some areas where 5 is better than 4, but I think you'd have to be a braindead tard to think the story and characters are better in 5 than in 4.

No, the story and characters are 100% better in 5. For the characters, the cast of 4 are *the* definitive yes men we love the MC of Atlus and every meme about Makoto and Futaba is eclipse by the stupidity that is Naoto as a character. For the story nothing beats a murder investigation that goes absolutely nowhere for 10 months straight, and Golden has the audacity to spoil both the game's tweests.

Getting excited for new games is fun, but honestly enough games have been released until now you would not need an more games to be released to keep gaming for the rest of your life.

i hate having limited time in games.

Well persone 4 is one of the best games ever made, not many on that quality even exist. Silent Hill series maybe? The good final fantasies? Fallout?

Silent Hill might be the answer. I've honestly never played a single one.

As for fallout, I made it 80% through fallout 3 and lost my save, didnt care enough to restore it. But maybe I should check out new Vegas.

I've played almost every final fantasy game and most of them are pretty bad, hasn't even been a good one since 10.

I guess you bring up a good point calling p4 one of the best games ever made. If I made a list of top 10 JRPGs it would have to be on it. So maybe I should just make sure I've covered the top games of every genre.

Try mainline, more gameplay less waifu-faggotry but waifu-faggotry may be what you're interested in in the first place

>hasn't even been a good one since 10
Took a minute to actually think about this one and it genuinely made me angry to realize it's the truth. 12 is serviceable though even with it's shitty combat system.

I still prefer 5 and it's the one I replay the most. Ever since golden released on PC I've played on and off for months trying to replay it and I always get bored off my mind.

ahem...

There's no romancesshit and that still has the best mechanics in any SMT game bar none.

Never claimed 0 waifu-faggotry, just less.

I'm not sure why retards say that. I played both versions and Golden is superior in every way.

V has better mechanics but IVA is right up there.

because hurr durr muh balance changes

For me Final Fantasy XII is my 3rd favorite in the series, right behind XIV and II as my all time favorite. I love the auto combat gambits, it feels like playing an old school rpg but actually using spells and skills instead of just spamming attack. XIV has a great story and "infinite" playtime, I can just log in and run daily roulettes to kill time with a genuinely fun combat system. II has the best leveling progression in any jrpg I have ever played and I have loved it since I played it on PS1.

V has level scaling and as such I shall never forgive it.

Because Golden looks awful, gives you a bunch of OP bullshit and has Marie

Level Scaling is the act of making enemies scale to your level once you level up, you're using that term incorrectly. What you meant to say is V uses levels in attack calculations, which every SMT game does too.

it's like 10x as more pronounced in smt5 compared to any other game, in any other smt fighting enemy even 30 levels higher than you is not unreasonable in smtv it's straight up impossible

No, level scaling means exactly as it reads "scaling based on level", the level scaling you're describing is Enemy Level Scaling. The way I meant was that enemies have a large percentile of damage reduction based on the level difference between them and you, going into the negatives once you outlevel them, which is unnaceptable in a game series that prides itself on the ability to customize and puzzle solve fights rather than just brute forcing them with levels.

I meant the good fallouts, 1,2 and New Vegas.

playing it right now and it's good

It is mechanically superior
More content
Good resolution scaling (played on 2560x1440 and everything but the models looked very crisp)
I like Marie and Adachi myself
And I don’t think the gameplay is the draw of a persona game anyway
It’s kinda shallow
The rpg minigame of Danganronpa V3 is more interesting

And DON'T get the party control mod unless you're a massive shitter. It trivializes the game.
What are you talking about? I finished the game first without it, then replayed it with the mod, it doesn’t make the game easier but more convenient. If you think Mitsuru spamming Marin Karin is some smart design and not actually an oversight by the developers, then you are a retard and a mindless old = good.

P3P needs no mod, and it works better than the original for battles because retard AI is not a good mechanic.

The game was designed with lack of party control in mind, use tactics and you won't see a single Marin Karin at all.

P3P is not only fan fiction, but also an inferior game to FES.
Portable's only contribution is FeMC and FeMC porn

Digimon World 1
Chrono Trigger
Silent Hill 1
Crash Team Racing
Resident Evil 1
Streets of Rage 2

>social links for Junpei and Akihiko
>loli Yukiko
>full party control
>awesome new songs

Only downside is the lack of anime cutscenes.

Good taste OP. Persona 5 is the worst in the series.

>SL for Junpei and Akihiko
Eh, I prefer 3's style of not every party member having a social link
>yukiko
She's on screen for all of 5 seconds
>party control
Game is balanced around it
>new songs
You boomed me, love every FeMC song, but don't act like the original P3's soundtrack was any bad
As for downsides you forgot no overworld and no the Answer

Nope it didn’t lack party control for gameplay purposes, but actually for the story. To give you the sense that they all are their own people. And this is proven by how adding the mod doesn’t change the experience at all, and also the fact that they added it in P3P. On a side note P3 had the best story because they cared about it.

Okay so you're missing out on an intended gameplay mechanic that's there for the sake of the story then. Not helping your case here.
>Nope
Are you honestly telling me they DIDN'T balance 3 with lack of party control in mind?
>doesn't change the experience
Then why change it.
Regardless, with good use of tactics you can dictate exactly what your party will do.

I didn't care for 12. The story suddenly came to an end when they ran out if budget and overall I thought the pacing of the dungeons felt off. Like they all should have been half as long and there should have been twice as many. I also think any combat system that encourages you to basically automate the gameplay is pretty shit. I actually do enjoy playing games not watching them play themselves.

I don't mind the overworld being gone, because you can't really explore any of it to begin with, and it's only interesting at the start because you're stuck in your routine and are going to the same places after 15/20 hours of play time. So just making it a VN with fast travel was absolutely fine with me.

I'm not saying P3 or FES had bad songs or anything, they're amazing, I just appreciated that they added new songs for this version.

I've never been a fan of The Answer. It's not canon from what I remember, and it's a little obnoxious playing with AI when every single boss has a chance to dodge their weakness if they even have one.

It is more pronounced and I can see that being a problem for speed runners but it's also probably a consequence of the game eliminating random encounters entirely and make levels more open ended.

>It's not canon
It's canon as far as I know, I think it's referenced outright in Arena or Ultimax, with Elizabeth killing Erebus and Aigis still being a wild card

P3 shitters are like
>I left party member to act freely
>wtf why did they do whatever they want
fucking morons

This. I never had the supposed marin karen epic memay that everyone bitches about, and I used Mitsuru

It's mostly because it was ported. You know, the Sony fanbase's "its not mine anymore so its bad" effect

She does it even if you have her set to weakness

I wasn't really personally counting 14 with final fantasy games. Its great, buts its an mmo with the final fantasy branding rather than a new FF mainline imho

I literally just ran through the game on ps3 (so no mods) and I didn’t have this problem.

Someone insulted Persona once and I took it personally.

>no the Answer
Say what you want about FES being the definitive edition, but The Answer is not a boon. Even if you want to say it's "plot important" or whatever, just read a synopsis. The Answer is an actual fucking slog.

>What games am I going to play in 12 years that I could have been playing now, but didn't realize they were good?
Persona 1. SMTII.
Welcome to the /vr/ club.

It's there if you want it.
You don't have to play it, but if you like the dungeon crawling aspect enough it's there. It might not be a pro outright but it's not a con either

It's just a meme. It's fairly mediocre.

I don't think anyone disagrees that answer sucks, as much of watching persona on youtube is a meme I actually strongly recommend people to just watch the cutscenes of answer because there's literally like 15 hours of filter grinding and 1 hour of story it's totally not worth playing through

Gameplay sure.
Story additions (Besides Adachi's SL) ehhhhhhhhhhh

When Persona 4 came out everyone was praising it for Kanji being a queer character when in actually that entire story arc is homophobic as hell. Kanji isn't gay, but having non-traditionally masculine hobbies makes him insecure. When he gets his persona the story is "Don't worry guys! I just needed to get over my insecurities! I'm not a gross fag!" The game literally frames it that Shadow Kanji is a disgusting monster because he's gay.

Then might as well use the mod. The game isn't that complex that the mod would make it truly any easier.

>Plays P5
>Good
>Plays P4
>Even fucking better
Many such cases, user. P4 is simply the better game.

To be fair, it's you can kill all your waifus.

graphics are much worse on pc but there is extra content
play the ps2 version first since it emulates very easily and it's free
>top
ps2
>bottom
pc

LOLVIRGINHAVE SEX LOSER

>Kanji isn't gay
Wasn't he crushing on Naoto before he knew she was a girl?

Bottom literally is objectively better

pls ignore my name i made a troll post and forgot to take it off

>What games am I going to play in 12 years that I could have been playing now, but didn't realize they were good?
Considering you were impressed by Persona 5 and 4, I would say like 90% of JRPGs ever released.
Start with Nocturne HD

Lmao based bait retard

You are now obligated to use that name with a trip in all of your posts

now that you drew attention to it, no.
