Moody teenager wingmen and even more "WAR IS BAD OK?!?!?" than the rest of the franchise combined. And 6 has better gameplay.
Imagine thinking 5 has more "War is bad ok" than 0. Braindead.
Imagine thinking anyone played 0.
That's one way to say you haven't paid any attention to the dialogue in 5 in at least 3 years.
I don't get it either. Ace Combat 5 is a true rollercoaster blockbuster. Zero felt sort of subdued and rushed in comparison.
Also, Ghost of Razgriz is by far the coolest Ace squad.
It's a fantastic game though I can understand why some people would prefer 4 or Zero. 5 still has a bunch of flaws.
>lots of waiting for radio chatter and in-game events to finish
>planes only have one weapon to choose from
>final boss is a cool concept but the difficulty is a joke
Still my personal favorite. The entire last 25% of the game is pure unadulterated kino.
dumbest post of the decade
Even though I've been playing the series since PS1, 6 is my favorite. There's only a few tacks that get me as moved as the Liberation of Gracemaria
>planes only have one weapon to choose from
it's slightly annoying, but it's also the only reason i don't get stuck using 1 plane for 90% of the games.
what did he mean by this?
At least it isn't as awful as project wingman. That a game alone is my biggest disappointment of the decade.
You are not my buddy.
5 is only good for setting up 0 and more specifically the last mission in 0 where it starts blasting lyrics from unsung war
Project Wingman has so many flaws its not even funny I wanted the game to be good. The game can be denoted as to fly in a circle and spam missiles when you get the lock on. Its not difficult, the AI is just designed shitty as are the boss fights.
This. Why the fuck are they even in the Osean armed forces if war is so bad then?
Dunno why the PAL release was called Squadron Leader. Who was the boring asshole that thought that that was a good idea?
first 15 missions are boring in AC5, simple as that.
>What is the SDF?
I do actually think 6 is underrated. Elements of the story cutscenes are silly but the OST, gameplay, Dpad commands and missions are fucking kino. Shooting down the missiles as they hit Gracemeria and the Heavy Command Cruisers are top 10 missions in the series.
it's not just the title that makes it sound boring as shit
Yeah EU boxart/cover sleeves are usually superior but I have no idea what they were thinking with this one. I think Distant Thunder is a better name than Shattered Skies for 4, though.
I agree that the story is probably on the weaker end, but the missions are so fucking good. The fight with Aigaion is probably my favorite moment that I still remember my original reaction. I was floored at the though of fighting a fucking flying carrier when I originally played the game.
>And 6 has better gameplay.
Based on what? I barely remember the missions in 6, but I can vividly remember the missions in 5.
I completely agree, but don't forget
>Kill rate unlock system
>Stuck with the same plane for the first four missions if you play through the campaign normally instead of using free flight
I'd say 04 has the best story in the entire series but 5's unapologetic Hollywood-ness is too enjoyable to pass up
>fly in circles and use the machine guns because missiles are useless
Fixed that for you. It's better off thinking of PW as recouping engine costs. If they can get some better writing and build on the base with more scenarios then PW2 can be pretty good. But for three people it's actually impressive that they pulled off what they did.
I mean it is impressive, but I hate how the AI gangs up on you and ignores your allies. It just leads to tedious fights instead of hard fights. I have no issue when a fight is hard because its designed to be hard, but fuck I hate tedium dogpile shit.
Holy shit stop being so bad. Deflection shots with guns and head on missile shots are so much better. Keep your speed, pick your engagements and you'll be killing much faster. Getting stuck in a single axis turn circle is a failure on your part and only doesn't get you killed because missiles have bad tracking.
Storywise, it makes sense. Monarch is the top ace on the Cascadian side, so the Federation would make it a standing order for all pilots to target him first.
>The game can be denoted as to fly in a circle and spam missiles when you get the lock on.
Get a load of this nugget
>terrible mission gimmicks
>half the missions are flying around aimlessly listening to people talk for minutes at a time without even anything to shoot at
It's okay the first time but it's by far the most obnoxious AC to replay.
I replay it once a year and it'a fun every time. Never understood this complaint. Legit my favorite videogame ever made
I like AC6 but it's easily the worst mainline game
I even RGHd my 360 specifically for the AC6 DLC
I liked PW, dude, but it really is "Guns guns guns" the game. They deal so much damage (which is perfectly fine) and are much easier to use than most other options. Missiles should just be tuned up a bit more so they actually feel like a feasible option unless I'm jousting.
And every AA/SAM/XSAM etc should lock on to whatever faceless nerd is the lead in AC games but they don't do that because it gets a bit out of hand. PW is balanced around infinite flares and I think the game suffers a bit from this, but I like it better than the constant missile locks giving me PTSD in AC7.
It still makes the fights boring
This was my experience on mercenary difficult, and I beat the game without issues, it more a criticism on the gameplay. Project wingman has issues.
>PW is balanced around infinite flares
See the DCS in me tells me flares are valuable things that you should only use when you are in FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK mode.
Some things in PW are pure bullshit and the plot is stupid as hell, but God if I loved the sheer madness they throw at you knowing that prototypes can handle it, it's a sci fi plane game that isn't afraid to push it as far as possible
The problem of ace combat 5 is that it tries to appeal to Americans
>"She's sinking! The ship's sinking!"
CAN YOU TAKE IT ALL AWAY
Why not just play the holy trinity?
take those fucking price tags off, you god damn nigger.
Nagase wanted qualifications to become an astronaut and Osea hadn't gotten into a real war since 1995.
>that entire chaotic naval battle with journey home blasting on all frequencies and ships getting friendly fired all over the place
>battle is over and kestrel goes down but manages to catapult the 4 black tomcats into osean territory just before
>things finally go the way of peace after all the confusion and lies that happened earlier in the war and the yuktobanian airforce comes to your aid and gives you an AWACS with a beautiful voice and then tunnelrun time
>war is finally over but OH SHIT SOLG INCOMING HEAD OVER TO OURED ASAP
>have to take down solg during sunrise with the unsung war playing in the background
5 had problems but damn right, the last part of the game were art.

Better controls, better graphics, more enemies on the ground and in the air. 5 has better story, characters and plane line-up but 6 just mogs 5 gameplay-wise.
>Ace Combat 7 done so well that the game is getting tie-in DLC with the new Top Gun movie
Ace Combat 8 when?
>Better controls
I guess.
>better graphics
Nigga it's on a next-gen console. Of course it has better graphics. That's not even a fair comparison you dick.
>more enemies on the ground and in the air.
I'll take your word for it, but at the same time I feel there were less missions in 6 than in 5. Can anyone confirm or deny?
Development was confirmed to have started about June last year, so not until 2023/24 at the earliest.
I wonder what these threads would've looked like if Electrosphere got a real translation back then instead of the bullshit one.
what? why would they have waited 1.5 - 2 years after 7 and its DLC to start working on 8? AC 8 has been in development since 2019 unless bamco just has project aces sitting on their hands for years at a time.
Probably wondering why Project Aces hasn't gotten around to showing us the real Intercorporate War yet.
>That's not even a fair comparison
It's just an objective comparison, not defending favorites or anything.
>there were less missions in 6 than in 5
Sure was. 6 missions take place in larger battlefields where the player can choose which sector to attack. In comparison 5's missions are more linear but more varied.
Too scripted and the story is gay. 0 was better.
The list of ways in which AC5 was a step down from 4 is so long I don't think I could remember them all off the top of my head. It is a fucking terrible game.
You guys think that edge ever raped blaze in his sleep?
Can't rape the willing.
*AHEM*
You may kneel.
>most of that was cut out for the us release
Why
4 is simpler and shorter, so people can replay it more
0 is just cooler, even though it is not better, the presentation is just amazing
7 looks fucking incredible since it is the most modern game
JP3 is still my favorite overall
Get out of the way to the real kino portable gameplay
THIS IS THE NIAD, THIS GAME ROCKS
My only con with it is that it sucks for replays because of the long dialog before the mission pops off. That and there's 2-3 "bad" missions, two of which are optional. It's an absolute blast for that first playthrough though.
Zero annoys me because the whole Ace system barely changes anything and its fake nonlinearity. It changes what Ace Squad you fight in some missions but the missions themselves are the exact same.
isn't 7 a set-up for it though? surely we will get the start of the intercorporate war on 8
because anime wasn't cool in the west yet
