The older you are the more likely it is that you've already been exposed to a particular style of game.
It gets to point where instead of seeing games as individual products you just view them as amalgamations of other ideas and that's when you'll find yourself constantly comparing things to shit you've already played when you were younger and happier.

Pick any niche vidya to follow and you'll see amazing threads all over the place. I've seen great threads about Toribash, i loved talking about Zero Escape games with fellow puzzle-adventure anons, Umineko was the vidya journey of my life and 4chin played a big role in that. Niche naturally filters out people who aren't genuinely interested, so that's pretty much a guaranteed way to have a quality thread.
I think there are two problems with vidya that make you feel like "every thread turns into shitposting"

This issue has a very easy solution though. Ignore, don't let it get to you, hide if you have to, move on. Because no matter if game is niche or not, no matter if it's elden ring thread or niche vidya thread, somewhere between a hundred screaming underages you'll find this one user to talk to. Maybe sometimes it's hard to shrug off the overall negativity, but doing our best is all we can do.

There's multiple threads I'm in /vst/ and while the posting pace is slow and the threads last up to a month, people there are usually much more civil (except paradox threads).
