>Elden Ring combat is... le BAD
Fine, make your own conbat then, let's see what ideas you come up with
Elden Ring combat is... le BAD
>R1 R1 R1 O R2 R1 R1 R1 R1 R1
Sounds like the average Nioh gameplay but you faggots claim that it's good
I don't like Nioh. I played the first one up until some cave level and dropped it.
Kek you've clearly never played nioh. For the record I love souls and nioh, both great games
whoevers mongoloid idea it was to put melee attacks on shoulder buttons should be drawn and quartered
>you've clearly never played nioh
I did
All combos are alterating light and heavy attacks
What's the difference? Just frames on combo follow up? Dodge pulsing or stance flexing?
>All combos
*almost all
Of course there's also moves with block and follow ups, but it's not much different than weapon arts
Don't forget medium attacks kek. But really you should have been changing stances with each ki pulse for ki bonuses, and there's plenty of moves that use a combination of buttons or can only be used as combo finishers or extenders.
I would say the yokai attacks are more like weapon arts, and those can be inserted into combo strings in more creative ways than arts too.
Like I said, souls and nioh are both awesome games for different reasons. But to say nioh has similar combat to dark souls really isn't accurate.
Oh wait nvm it's true there's only light and heavy, but they exist for 3 stances. The gameplay is meant to combo attacks much more than souls too, it's just a different combat system entirely. You really can't compare the two systems, theyre very different games
>Don't forget medium attacks
What? You mean stances? Those are just movesets that also affect your dodge/block
>But really you should have been changing stances with each ki pulse for ki bonuses
Never found myself doing it for the actual moveset, just the ki bonuses
Literally feels forced and actually I consider it retarded for the upgrades.
The interesting part of the ki pulse initially is that it imposes a choice on the player, if they want to pulse and then dodge or attack or just dodge right away without losing time but trading stamina, but that is lost when you can dodge pulse or flux
>I would say the yokai attacks are more like weapon arts, and those can be inserted into combo strings in more creative ways than arts
Still have to play Nioh2
>stun locking an enemy
>good combat
that's the second level
more universal defensive options than iframe rolls, offensive moves that have more effects on opponents than stagger after the invisible bar is depleted, more mobility, higher skill ceiling than just learning retarded unnatural timings
Go back to your fighting game community
>more universal defensive options than iframe rolls
have you tried jumping?
no iframes so you actually have to dodge attacks and cant press a magical invulnerability button
get away from rollspam by making positioning more important to avoid damage. and adding defensive spells & incantations
stop getting triggered by chip damage
Just use a shield, and there's a jump button now.
WHERE ARE THE FUCKING WEAPONS I HAVE BEEN WANDERING AROUND FOR HOURS AND I HAVE A FUCKING ESTOC, A RAPIER, A LOT OF LONGSWORDS, A BANDIT CURVED SWORD THING, THE FUCKING KNIGHT CURVED SWORD THING WITH THE ABYSS WATCHERS' WEAPON ART, AND NOTHING ELSE HOLY SHIT
>try jumping
It's only useful in dodging tailor-made moves and nothing else.
that's not universal you retarded nigger, it's only for a select few attacks and even some that look like they can be jumped have to be rolled like hoarah loux's AoE earth explosions
uh yeah. Vindictus has the best combat in any arpg to ever exist. it's more than a decade old
half expecting the enemy to pull off some bullshit move that one shots him when it was about to die.
Why are you describing Dark Souls 3 combat? We're talking about Elden Ring here, champ.
>Change mid and fast roll into dodgesteps with follow up attacks made to avoid charging and magic attacks with 0.3 seconds (mid roll) and 0.34 seconds (fast roll) of i-frames that do not work against Sweep or AoE attacks
>Forward steps gets no i-frames against Thrust attacks either, but forward steps into perfect block can perfect block Thrust attacks
>Put perfect blocking (12 frames) for all melee weapons 2 handed and implement it with counter guard already in game. Perfect blocking doesn't work against Sweep, Thrust and AoE attacks
>Keep jump as defensive option and standardize all AoE/Sweep attacks to be reliably dodged by that with 1.2 seconds of i-frames
>Shields block easily other than perfect block like 2 handed weapons, but you can also attune several offensive abilities and they can parry/block magic and aoe, those you can't block with a weapon
>Return to weapon arts thematic to the weapon, change all the "ashes of war" that are basically spells back into spell, but integrate weapon arts with the moveset. Each weapon has different weapon arts depending if the button is pressed from neutral state, after light attack, after heavy attack, after roll or a 2 light or 2 heavy combo
>Blocking right after a 2 attack combo is a new different attack with high poise damage that grants damage absorbtion but has short range, with a shield it's a shield bash chained after the attack, with the a 2 handed weapon a quick pommel hit or shoulder bash
>higher skill ceiling than just learning retarded unnatural timings
theres nothing "unnatural" about any of it, and memorizing patterns/timings is literally all combat in every game that isnt braindead mashing.
>more universal defensive options than iframe rolls
You mean like shield blocking, weapon blocking, parrying, jumping, quickstep/BHS dodging, backstepping, facetanking, ...
nioh boogeyman
>theres nothing "unnatural" about any of it
you're a brain damaged fromtranny, don't talk to me ever again
Try doing those against Malenia
>fromdrone doesn't understand what universal means
I'm seriously starting to suspect fromdrones are overall the stupidest fanbase in the entire industry, quite remarkable
yeah Niohs combat is literally the same.
I finished the second game with only a single Odachi R1 R2 combo that just stunlocked and melted everything.
Plus, you have the free godmode in Nioh. Nioh is fine, but it is a simple grind game and not really a soulslike.
When the fuck are we going to get the Single Player FPS RPG equivalent of Elden Ring?
Is this a gamedev thread
nioh is as complex as you decide it to be.
souls combat is never complex, no matter what you do.
i did and got hit by hoarah loux leg stomp until i realised that you have to jump it when the model of the spikes is already in your body and not the moment just before the burst from the ground
pretty shit design if you ask me
Spbp
You don't get any decent weapons early game.
>t. 60+ vig
nioh sucked and its basically just waifufags that defend it
Same thing except you can easily read what kind of hitbox attacks are going to happen and increase the speed on most things to some degree.
My grammar is shit because I'm tired. Sleep meds go brrrrrzzzz
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I wish
You must have never interacted with a GTA 4 fan
Nioh legitimately has the best combat of all soulslike. it's like a proper action game that gives you all the tools to be as proactive as you want in your approach to combat. compare that to soulshit where it's all reactive, and it comes off inorganic and like a scripted dance instead of an actual duel
Yea Forumsro... your golden halberd?
No this is an ideas guy thread
The fuck are you talking about, shields work fantastic against her.
Shields and step dodging are about as universal as rolling, pleb.
Also, needing more options that are "universal" makes you a pleb.
shields aren't universal at all you have to invest in a specific build to wield a shield that doesn't get your stamina bar melted in two hits by any mid game enemy and "step dodging" requires a specific ash of war and consumes magic, you're a fucking idiot as expected from a fromdrone
>I want more defensive options
>also they have to be free
Turbopleb detected.
Stop trying to casualize games.
Also, by your logic rolling isn't universal either since you have to compromize on your equpment load to prevent fat rolling or even no rolling.
Jumping allows you to avoid most shockwave attacks and many sweeps. And you can avoid sweeps by ducking under them, that includes end animations of jumping attacks and some weapon arts.
>tailor-made moves
Are you telling me that some attacks are made to be dealt with in a specific way? Preposterous!
Dragon's Dogma has better combat
I want more basic defensive options yes you absolute braindead turbonigger, I don't want to get stuck on an upgrade path to use something as simplistic as fucking blocking, imagine trying to portray that as unreasonable
Bretty good
Fuck no, have you see human on human combat? It's braindead as fuck
>I want more basic defensive options
Like what? You can block with your weapon, you can roll, you can simply run out of the attack.
What else do you want? What purpose will it serve? You want three different "I can't get hit" buttons?
The problem with Elden Ring combat is that they designed the enemies far beyond the original Souls attack-roll combat system. Bloodborne and Sekiro added necessary mechanics to match their enemy design but Elden Ring did not.
Shazamtrannies are ESL retards and don't realize that, if anything, people would prefer the opposite, less universal defensive option than rolling
parry
At least they fixed scythe crits.
I guess if you oogabooga it and ignore the entire skilltrees for every weapon class.
