Wizardry IV is a pile of shit but turning it off prematurely only brings more pain next time I boot it up so I crawl through it for much longer than I would like during a session.

What I've now seen are games people are fond of for the NES, one of which, someone has kindly pointed out came out after the SNES... I can sit down as can many others and play certain SNES games maybe even all the way through and be pleased, you've got some options, not many, but some. There is nothing that is timeless enough before the SNES, that our 2022 brains can suffer long enough to actually get into.

the most fun part of that game is literally skipping 90% of the content which isnt very appealing

I can pop in Kirby's Adventure, Mario 3, Mega Man 2, and Castlevania 1 and 3 and have a pretty fun time. I guess Kirby's Adventure is technically not "pre-SNES" though, but whatever.

There's a decent amount but most games pre-SNES are just not worth playing
