Internal tools usually aren't made with user-friendliness and intuitive GUIs in mind. Crytek found this out when they tried to license out CryEngine. Google found this out when they tried to launch Google Cloud. No matter how good your tech is, you won't find much success on the open market if you just dump your internal tools out there and tell people to "figure it out".
