I TRIED RUNNING IT 219 TIMES WITH MY 1060 3G AND IT ALWAYS CRASHED BEFORE GETTING TO THE MAIN MENU EXCEPT ONE TIME WHERE I GOT TO THE MAIN MENU AND THEN IT CRASHED

Competent devs can make a decent amount of content without resorting to crunch.

Apex Legends, which is a far comparison to make as they are also a live service game, have reportedly not crunched since Season 3.

It's not just a content problem like everyone is saying, another huge problem that I'm not seeing discussed is that the maps fucking suck. 9 out of 10 maps all play exactly the same.

I was going to be really cunty and draw 6 maps, 3 from Infinite and 3 from Reach, but when I started drawing Reach's maps I was heavily misrepresenting the verticality and various covered hallways in my simplistic paint drawing. Meanwhile the 3 Infinite maps I drew Bazaar, Streets and High Power I only neglected 1 or 2 covered hallways.

I did completely forget the hole even existed for High Power though, dunno if that speaks more too me or the map.

Season 2 is looking good though

If it's 6 months of content instead of 6 months of almost nothing like season 1, what's the issue? Are you that in a hurry to pay for another $10 battle pass?

I guarantee it's because:

1. Right after Halo 5 came out, 343 started working on a direct sequel, same horrific artstyle and all. But then it was canned and Microsoft and 343 started looking into what people actually (sort of) want in Halo.
2.Somewhere down the line, they shoehorned an open world in due to the the mid 2010s open world fad, and that obviously had a negative effect on the game as a whole.

Decent arena gameplay, but the arena is massive (Not what people are looking for when the play Halo) and poorly designed. Solution: No more open world Halo, unless it's some spinnoff like a Ghost Recon ripoff. Some Marines doing tacticool stuff during the Covenant war. I wish for broken kneecaps on whoever wanted an open world in an arena game.

Nah, semi-open world Halo can work and I can see it getting better with more campaigns, plus if you watched their GDC presentation, they're not going back to linear campaigns. Infinite's campaign was called "the new era of Halo" for a reason.

Welp. Time for more bad level design trying to be realistic and open. First they screw up gameplay in Reach - 5, then they take a step back while refusing to remove sprint for whatever autistic corporate reason, now they ruin map design because "open world 4 teh gaymerz lolz". 343 still doesn't understand Halo.

Open world is "realistic". That's what I was meaning. Dummies think open = good, ignoring the fact that people play Halo because it's an arena shooter with mechanics designed around good, smaller scale level design. Open fields are garbage for how the core gameplay was designed. Hell, even the PvP maps still adhere to these smaller scale map design. The campaign is a disaster because the core mechanics do not match the map design. And that's before we start talking about trash enemy encounters that could be done for free by modders.

Lead Bungie devs slept in the office to finish halo 2. That dedication is why they were able to turn their incomplete tech demo that didn't run on the xbox at the time into one of the best games ever made.

You will never be able to recapture what made Halo so great. It did all the things it needed to at the times it needed to do them almost flawlessly.
But its time has come and gone.

Wrong, Halo's outside levels with vehicles and freedom of choice of how you wanted to complete the missions were always the best missions, Halo's linear missions were always shit with boring crappy locked in combat arena sections. Halo's pieces were also shit, what good is looking at something pretty if I'm just going to stare at it for the entire level, Halo 2's city level is a primary example of that along with Halo 3's Storm and Floodgate missions. I could not give a rat's ass on anything multiplayer. Infinite has one of the most fun campaigns in the entire series to date, can't wait see how the campaigns evolve going forward, past campaigns sucked with Halo CE being one of the only good ones and Halo 3 being fun but still a disappointment.

Bungie spent two years doing nothing while still having all of the assets ready and only got their shit going when the team was brought back together and Jason came back, in the end, Halo 2 still sucked.

I'd say it was more of a good foundation that they took way too fucking long to actually start adding on to, especially for what is supposed to be a live service game that's meant to dripfeed updates at a regular pace after launch to retain players. The biggest fuckup is taking way too long for Forge, if they had that out soon after launch most people would be satisfied with all the custom games and maps. It's obvious 343 rushed this shit out and only did the bare minimum to have a functional game then realized they didn't have enough time to line up any post-launch content to keep the playerbase occupied.

They somehow underdelivered in every aspect possible. Halo 3 launched with the conclusion to one of the most hype sci-fi stories of our generation, 4 player co-op, multiplayer with slayer, forge, custom games and theatre mode. A complete package from the go, and every armour in the game you unlocked by playing.

Infinite did fucking none of this at launch, how can you release a sequel to a game that is objectively worse than the game before? You can't, nobody will play an inferior product when nobody plays the superior product anymore because it's 15 years old.

CE was not open world. It had a single level (Halo) that allowed you to do 3 simple objectives in any o90rder you wanted, and then you were done and never returned. And you know what? Each of those three objectives in that mission were laid out in arena style. You didnt' just have a bland open field to wander. No Halo before Infinite was open world. You're entirely identifiable as a repeat and habitual shitposter by claiming everyone only started like Halo at 2 if they disagree with you. You are legitimately retarded if you think you're helping discussion by pulling the same retard move out of a kneejerk reaction when people say things you don't understand. Have fun talking to yourself past this point, you're probably used to it anyway.

Halo Reach did suck, that is true

Campaign was shockingly short when you cut out the extremely repetitive open world. There's nothing to explore really and nowhere feels particularly different than any other spot.

Multiplayer has nothing redeeming about it. I haven't played 4 or 5's MP, but this is the worst of the others in terms of MP.

it's only "big" from the POV of Microsoft because they sunk half a billion into it. from the POV of a player or Halo fan it's miniscule. we had two bad games already telling us this third one would be in trouble. and the actual game IS tiny. it has very little content. multiplayer has a fraction of the maps you'd expect and they just took another half year just two add like two (?) more maps. singleplayer is generic terrains made of rocks and grass (the trees are hardly worth mentioning, you could remove them and the game wouldn't change), that's ONE BIOME plus the mordor-style "dead" version of the same thing. the only other content takes place in samey looking sci fi corridors / halls.

that would explain why customization in multiplayer is restricted to different "suits" and SUCKS.

Pretty sure nobody hated halo 2 or 3 when they released. 2 was nothing but improvement and 3 was still to this day probably the biggest and most hyped game launch in history

343 needed to do open world because Halo 4 and 5 have some of the worst designed levels in the series to the point that if you even remotely try to defend then you have some come kind of brain parasite eating at whatever brain cells you have left.
