If by useless you mean all the "buy this buy that" then I have been ignoring most of it, though mostly because I already have a ton of items and at level 999 from doing blind playthroughs.
I am about halfway through it by now and to be honest I wouldnt had figured the right time to change SEN levels without the guide.
Completely missed Red Hood and Dorothy events in the both previous runs I did blind.

You can figure out everything on your own, but it takes it's time. You shouldn't expect to understand everything from the start.

The SEN manipulation part is particularly retarded. How many times does it expect you to change your SEN again, 20? It also misses some particularly great scenes like fighting headhunting beast at 100 SEN with Vorpal Blade +10 because the retard who wrote it tried to fit everything into one playthrough. You're meant to do 3/4 runs and you'll discover most of these events on your own
Also, for the record, fairy tales are useless in BS2. All you get is either a sex scene or an easily outclassed ring, no lore

Different user but if it's the guide I think it is, it makes you run all over the place early on and touch the bonfires just for the sake of it. You don't actually need to do it that early on, and you're not getting any particularly good loot in most of the cases. And the guide has you come back later when you're higher level + better equipped for the actual clearing anyways.

Well what I did was play normally the first time. Then for the second run, I just set my SEN to zero, got the real Vorpal Sword, made sure to jail Jubjub as soon as possible, and explored every single area again to see the SEN changes. Now on my third run I already did most of what is in the guide, but like I said before I had missed Red Hood and Dorothy events. I am not there yet but I also havent figured out what to do with Mary yet, which I believe is required for the other endings I havent got yet. I know I could keep going blind but after 20h playing it I just want to watch the lore events I havent yet.

I never realized that form was supposed to be the jabberwock.

Played Black Souls 1 years ago, want to do NG+ to get Ending A before starting BS2 but don't know how to not bungle the order of things. Anyone know of any good guides, F95 didn't really help.

I think the only things you can screw up is saving Emma and not freeing goose.
Saving every one isn't really a requirement if you don't care about all the final boss ending for each girl.

Dorothy - kill the 3 beasts, basement, forest and ranch
Elma - kill the clown in the sewers right away, check back on Elma often when her mother appears at the house kill her, Elma will run away and end up at your garden
Goose - get a master key for her chains, when she's at the garden deposit souls onto her, meet her at the tent, refuse her proposals in order to love her
Elisabeth - find her ring in the forest, it's in the possession of a dark fairy near the bonfire area. Ask for no reward in exchange. Do not let Red Hood meet her mother.
Jeanne and Catherine - get her ashes at the place where you fight Hellkaiser, get a tentacle from the kraken(follow the path right to the forest area through the poison marsh), head to the skeleton Maze through the path down from the blacksmith. On your way there kill the dog in the church. Find the skeleton with the red cape, he will ressurect Jeanne for you. Catherine should be in the skeleton cave too, so after ressurecting Jeanne look for her. Kill the two demons, talk to Catherine till she exhausts her dialogue. Head to the church. Summon Jeanne when talking to Catherine.
Victoria - beat the Giant as soon as you are allowed to do so, doing too late will result in Victoria's suicide
Miranda - 5 SIN at the frog princess' area, just walk around, beat her up and recruit her
Red Hood - just ride the boat
I think the trigger for Goose escaping with your souls was beating 2 princesses. Can't remember what it was for Elma

Where the fuck do I upgrade weapons at? I've basically explored right up to the end of the fort, then off east right up to Rapunzel, I'm a fucking level 40 gigachad at this point but I'm still swinging the drake sword at people because I can't level up the greatsword like I want to.

I did my Blacksouls 1 playthrough very recently, so I can tell you with decent certainty what worked for me.
After beating the prologue, head north grab Dorothy's quest, do those and then save Goose at Behemoth Ranch, deposit some souls with her. Now finish clearing Behemoth ranch. Now go through the Sewers and reach Rottenburg and talk to Elma (I didn't kill Pied Piper yet, dunno if doing so before he's a Fogged boss will mess things up). Now go back to Holy Forest hub and go downstairs for Elixir Town. Talk to the old guy in front of the monument to turn Pied Piper into a fogged boss, grab Elixir Town bonfire while you're here to save yourself time, then kill Pied Piper in the Sewers. Then I came back killed Patrasche in the Elixir Town Cathedral, check back on Elma after every fog boss to be safe, it's not a cutscene kill the Lamia if she attacks Elma but iirc it was another boss or two before that happened. Kill the king in Rottenburg now, and make sure to save Victoria right away, then grab Jeanne's ashes at Fort Ivern. Now go to Skeleton Cave and talk to the skeleton shaman and save Catherine in the lower floor, kill the Kraken in the poison area, you should now be able to revive Jeanne, recruit Catherine, and Elizabeth should have moved 1 screen north of Fairy Forest. At this point everything is easy and just make sure you don't screw up Goose's dialogue in the tent and make sure you tell Red Hood not to talk to Elizabeth.

The nature of cycles on the actual timeline (and outcomes) of the gardens in BS1 and BS2 seems to be extremely convoluted at best. You have shit like Red in BS2 popping in from her personal ending in BS1, for example, despite that ending not being a cyclebreaker at all. There's also the egg (forma de Goose) that remembers C despite that directly conflicting with the cyclebreaker of D.
