>Absolutely rampant hacker/cheater problem
>Official Valve servers completely infested with aid ridden bots
>Performance is terrible considering it's a source game
>Almost 1500 days since last major update.
>Not Steam Deck Verified despite being one of Valve's most popular games.
Valve's neglect of Team Fortress 2 is absolutely disgusting and anyone associated with it should be embarassed. Bots (which are open source) that make the game unplayable have been rampant for almost 3 years and nothing has been done besides disabling f2p accounts from chatting (which did jack shit to fix the spam). I'm so demoralised bros. When will Valve fix Tf2? youtube.com

They're not going to fix it. Keep coping.
Even if Valve fixed it, nobody would play because there's universally considered better shooters than it out there now.
user, nobody wants to touch it because the "social pillars" that lead the TF2 community are fucking cancer.
They all bailed to work on CS:GO because even with how huge of faggots the CS:GO retards can be about BaLaNcEd GaEmPlAy they don't have a laundry list of literally dozens of weapons they demand and spam to be fucked with every update.
Also the damage had already been done with the original run of contracts and matchmaking, and ran rampant on destroying the user server infrastructure.
There is definitely still an interest and fanbase of for games like TF2 and imo nothing has come close to it for the genre. It's still in the top 10 games on steam 15 years after release. If Valve actually added new content to the game it would be in the top 5 I'm sure.
They make too much money off the bots and their participation in the Steam Marketplace, they don't need to fix shit
This game is coming on 15 years old. Most games with that life cycle only live on as small enthusiast communities anyway.
Valve were only injecting cancer into the game over the years in the form of microtransactions and matchmaking, really not a big deal if the official servers get swamped by bots. The real issue is the remaining community are too faggy to run and use decent community servers
It's only 5 years older than CS:GO. Look at the QOA improvements and updates that CS has had over the years. There's no comparison.
in before artifactschitzo!
And if God was merciful that game would be unsupported too
You forgot to list:
>valorant
>apex legends
>destiny 2
>tarkov
>overwatch
>csgo
>siege
>warzone
All of which are games most former TF2 players moved on to and have at least 2x the amount of human concurrent players.
Most of TF2 faggots who moved to Overwatch regret their choice and are now in a limbo between multiple game including Fortnite to find back the fun they got like early TF2
>cs:go and tf2 in the same genre
EY MA IM TROLLIN GET A LOOK CMEA
Just let it go, Tyler
I haven't played tf2 in years and i will never go back I'll gladly play valorant and cs also destiny 2 isn't even a fps game it's a fucking diablo game
>bots
top kek, for fun. i like to develop bots for tf2 because it’s just so interesting to learn how to exploit and make code that is efficient. it’s coding experience and it’s just satisfying to know that your program works and is good at killing people.
>5yrs since Jungle Inferno
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
why would they Deck verify a mkb competitive game?
>This game is coming on 15 years old.
>Most games with that life cycle only live on as small enthusiast communities anyway.
That feeling when some game devs had an idea and were really excited about it and players embraced it and were excited and servers were full of players having the time of their life just having fun and now it's all gone, kept on life support by the few remaining die hards who can't let go
>i love tf2, and i miss it
gut wrenching feel
has valve literally abandoned it?
was jungle inferno the last major update?
>got back into tf2 for jungle inferno because I thought more updates were to come
>has valve abandoned it
YES THEY ABANDONED IT YEARS AGO
GIVE IT THE FUCK UP YOU AUTISTIC RETARD
>tf2, hl3, l4d3 and portal 3
when?
>GIVE IT THE FUCK UP
I... i can`t, user
i can`t get off this ride
>>Not Steam Deck Verified despite being one of Valve's most popular games.
but it works on the steam deck
I like it when the Spy says "They should call you whiners, Doctor NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
>games with frequent updates get more players than the game with zero updates
Wow no way
>new maps halloween
>old festive maps are back, contracts incentivice playing on them
infinite hype
>join server
>"good shot m8!" x 10
>rinse and repeat ad nauseam
the worst part is that the few botless matches I managed to find were the most fun I had in years playing a multiplayer game
Lol we could have had a TF2 tv series after expiration date but valve didnt care enough to respond to adult swim
Having not played TF2 in probably a decade, when people say bots, do they mean people using aimbots, actual bots playing, or a combination of the two? I knew you could already add official Valve bots in servers.
The worst part is I can't stop playing it.
You have community servers and mods that valve so far hasn't gone out of their way to actively take down even if their downloads can't be public. No, they haven't handled it well, but it's absolutely nothing compared to how bad it could be.
Almost every modern game coming out will be dead in 10 years when the servers shut down and idiotic corporate simps will jump on their swords to go "they're old games! you can't expect them to live forever!" While TF2 will probably have a playable base until the fans are in their 80s because there's little you can do to permanently kill it.
"not steam deck verified" often just means "we don't have button prompts for the deck."
It was more because valve's development cycle is so schizophrenic that they couldn't hope to stick with the production of a TF2 show.
actual bots with aim assist, they pretty much outnumber teams and can call out votes to kick actual players
>"not steam deck verified" often just means "we don't have button prompts for the deck."
you could be right
What fucking purpose is there for people to implement an option for bots to kick real players? And why do they even exist? I understand why people are assmad now, that's fucking retarded.
TF2 bot code simulated outside of the game as input glued to running tf2 instances.
I don't know. Nothing about the bots really makes sense, which leads to the community creating their own theories about the reason behind the bots.
That also reminds me that steam input glyphs for tf2 have been completely broken since meet your match and render outside of all dialogs, and hasn't been fixed.
>People inventing conspiracy theories out of grief for the game when the answer is definitely as simple as "someone enjoys the power boner they get from causing a few thousand people undue suffering"
many such cases
but barely anyone gives them any attention, they just kick them and move on
That's not true at all, you can barely read about team fortress without someone moping about the bot situation.
Last significant balance change patch was in 2018.
And why would they give a shit? People still buy keys/crates/unusuals everyday.
Judging from that infamous mvm group, I think that's the case. It's full of delusion though, people do bitch about the bots, but it's not like most players don't just join another server.
There’s no damn way tarkov has more players
I can't believe how many people are dumb enough to pay for this shit lmao
They updated Half Life 2's UI but not TF2's.
Why?
Matchmaking was a mistake, go back to community servers only
It's a piece of (open source) software which allows you to make fake players join matches and then spam the chat + micspam. They use cheats to headshot players and call votes on people to generally fuck up the lobby.
youtube.com
Not for nothing, they already did most of Half Life 2's UI back when they released the steam controller. (And they aren't really going to need to retouch it either)
Same shit is happening for Dota 2 and csgo matches too btw
Valve doesn't give a shit about their games all they care is maintaining PC monopoly with steam game store and umpc steam deck hardware they failed for desktop with steam hardware thankfully
Within this and upcoming decade you will see the true aim of this valve corporation aka total control of pc market unlike ever before with help of BCI making current console market to shame mark my words inb4 egs shill or whatever don't complain about steam or valve in future
You can ignore all the valve's failures and issues but it will cost your freedom
People wouldn't be so upset about TF2's lack of updates if Valve just removed the fucking anti-custom weapon code they put in to fuck over sourcemod server owners and made it easier for servers to apply custom animations for weapons.
I don't know why they haven't done that.
They should update the game this October to remove Casual, remove the store, put the server browser back in its rightful place, and allow servers to use custom weapons again.
>You can ignore all the valve's failures and issues but it will cost your freedom
I mean, it's a weird thing to say in a TF2 thread, a place where you see people bitching about Valve's failures left and right. You'd think that if Valve wanted us to ignore their grand scheme shenanigans, they would at least keep the games in a good state in order to distract us.
>I don't know why they haven't done that.
Probably because custom servers have largely fallen the fuck apart?
They desperately need to update their Anticheat. I've seen people in CS:GO cheat with incredibly high value inventories. They know that Valve doesn't do anything.
i want to make bots for source games, is there a guide?
Are you one of the Rathook/Cathook developers?
