a breath in fresh air compared to current FPS games. The long time to kill means the game is very skill dependant compared to other BRs and isn't full of camping waiting to get the drop on others as if they're good enough they can very well win the engagement still

Apex pretty much takes a strong niche in FPS BR genre with players who are ready to pay big bucks for Respawn's skin designs.
I also like them, but they are all under a paywall with no ways of getting them through progressions (specifically the event/limited time lootboxes) which irritates me and doesn't really drive to play it.

yeah i agree apex cosmetics are easily the worst in the fucking market, they rarely have unique voicelines, they dont change the look of abilities, or anything but yet theyre like $20. theres some good skins but not $20 good so i just lay with the legendaries the games give me

No, defensive characters mostly suck. Visibility, mobility, and damage will always be better unless you're playing tourneypex and everyone is camping a room waiting for the last ring to close on 5+ squads.

Advertising. Normal streamers, ads, promotional campaigns with irl stuff (like Monster energy drinks for example), vtubers.
They also consitently push out content keeping the game fresh to keep the adhd riddled zoomer brain entertained.

Apex carries the FPS genre. Going back to games like TF2 or Counter-Strike is honestly hard for me because the Battle Royale aspect is so much better than just dying and respawning.

They got rid of a lot of the bullshit, introduced more variety, and the balancing has also been decent for some time now. It's also honestly one of the shooters with the best gunplay and movement around. I personally stopped playing 2 seasons ago after almost playing since the very beginning because the game just requires so much time if you wanna be good at it (at least for me). I can't play it casually, it's not fun to just get dunked on for 9 matches in a row before the pity sensor gives you your assigned 2k+ dmg win. That's honestly still the worst thing about it, the matchmaking. But we're never getting servers, so meh.

i would agree if apex wasnt just a chore to play solo. even in ranked platinum (18% of rhe playerbase) its near unplayable because if your teammate does some dumbshit you suffer for it by being stuck in 5 minutes of downtime.
