GOG (I made this thread on Yea Forums by accident and now I'm very embarrased)

>Games no one cares about
>No DRM means literally all their stuff can be pirated day 1
How are they still on bussiness

Some people are civilized and actually pay for services, don't pirate something solely because it's unprotected. People who pirate everything solely because they can are lowest scums.

I won't buy a game if it isn't on gog.

You get to reward someone for DRM free software, indefensible, go to jail OP.

This

Yea Forums told me DRM doesn't have any affect in piracy

Because piracy never has and never will effect sales.

hahahaha nice one

>Buy games on gog
>pirate Steam shit

they're constantly in the red
cdpr operates it at a loss

True for mainstream games, but it absolutely does impact indies

What's wrong with pirating everything?

Is there an archive for delisted GOG stuff? I fucking hate Rockstar for what they did after the GTA Remaster

It doesn't.

>How are they still on bussiness
people who pirate were never intent on buying it in the first place which is totally fine, do what you gotta do. but i'll gladly pay to have a library of classic games i know i'll get countless hours of enjoyment from. i only pirate as a last resort for delisted games.

gog-games.com/

Only AAA games should be pirated

If I was never going to buy the game it never effected the sales in the first place.
Simple as.

Last year was a loss, but 2020 was just barely profitable for GOG.
It's also not operated by CDPR, both are subsidiaries of CD Projekt.

Because piracy is caused by two things.
One is of course price, it's impossible to beat free, but as long as the games are reasonably priced, there are people who are willing to pay.
The bigger reason is convenience. It's often simply easier to pirate than it is to buy a legit copy, and that is usually caused by DRM. This is where GOG shines or at least used to with its simple downloadable installers without any DRM.
Unfortunately they've been fucking up lately with the offline installers getting updates later than games installed through Galaxy, online features tied to it and even the attempted Hitman launch where most of the game is tied to online-only DRM.

I stopped buying from them. They don't seem to give a shit. They have become hostile to linuxs and don't even seem to give a shit about windows either. Galaxy is a mess, nothing is happening. Can't even fix basic shit like creating a desktop shortcut outside of instalI.

They are actually slowly dying. They haven't made a profit in two years, according to CDPR's financial report. That said, GOG team is just a skeleton crew right now so they can afford the loss.

>They are actually slowly dying.
And that's a GOOD thing.

Wallet cuck

they burn money on some research shit which is why they make no profit on paper. Was part of their budget breakdown.

unfathomably based

reminder that when the shitty baldur's gate remasters came out beamdog tried to force gog to stop selling the original games because they wanted to force everyone to play with their "improvements". they ended up at a compromise of including the original games as a bonus with the enhanced editions. beamdog was extremely butthurt about not being able to bury the original games pulled completely and publicly tried to spin it as gog locking the old games behind the new ones out of greed.

>No DRM means literally all their stuff can be pirated day 1
Turns out most people aren't niggers

They've been losing money for like 4 years now, had major layoffs 2 times and are probably going to be sold to some chink company soon.
It's all in CDP investor reports.

>dude ofc people will buy cars from my dealer even though I left the keys to the car right next to them

I pirated so many gog games that they deserved some money

black "person"

They're in bussiness because I purchase games from them and because their overhead is 0 when they're not being retarded and hiring a bunch of retards.
I legit will check GOG before I check steam.
>but what about piracy
I can and do pirate from them but I can also pirate from steam. Minor protections are worthless and major ones affect the gameplay - neither stop piracy. Having no DRM is based and only benefits the consumer imo. Again, it's not like even trash like denuvo stops people playing it eventually.

>not downloading cars

they're rarely worth a search or the bandwidth rofl

I don't need Gog to pirate games.
Also some gullible people genuinely belief that if they purchase games legitimately, it's gonna help the devs. Fools!

CDPR and GOG won't last another 5 years so make sure to save and back up those installers. GOG might get bought up by someone and their staff gutted but CDPR is going to shit. They decided to drink the woke kool-aid now they pay the price, fuck em.

>linuxfag
You are the new vegans.

you're screwing yourself by buying games with DRM

Go back, OP.
>games no one cares about
I got all my Rayman games off GoG, fuck off.

iirc gog's been a money pit for cdpr
i don't see it ever becoming profitable even, but i do like them and support them where i can
stuff like community patches for old games really help me out
i have trouble buying new games on gog though cause devs usually update the gog version way later than the steam version, so i mostly buy older games

>I'll buy it if I decide that I'll enjoy it
>200k miles later
>here's the keys to the car, I didn't enjoy it so I won't be buying it

GOG lost me when they caved to chinks by not releasing a game and adding a game with DRM.

>all their stuff can be pirated day 1
>How are they still on business
Because for every company ever made, pirates are not their target audience. They sell products to customers who pay for them, not to those who don't pay for them.

>No DRM means literally all their stuff can be pirated day 1

Steam DRM is super easy to crack, I'm not sure about Denuvo though

there are some people who pirate GOG but buy Steam games, I don't get it when almost all (if not fully) Steam games end up on pirate sites.

>sold to some chink company
which one?

denuvo is hard to crack, but if multiple games share the same version of the cracked denuvo, then all those games are cracked as well

I don't buy games with sussy EULAs, permanent internet conection or DRMs. Although I don't buy them on GoG either if they have any of those anywhere else. Except for Mad Max which I wanted too much to not buy.
Yes I buy very few games and most are old I'm not the main audience but I assume that's the kind of client GoG relies on to stay afloat (and that's probably why they had to start selling not so good and not so old games).

What this thread is even about?

This game seems pretty alright, why would they reject it

But the GTA games were never on GOG.
There are quite a bit.
pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_games_delisted_from_GOG.com

Pretty sure they were giving this away with amazon prime a while back, you might still be able to buy it from them maybe

Attached: file.png (914x50, 4.45K)

>still on bussiness

The bigger issue with gog is updates. I dont buy new games with th anymore, especially indies because you get updates weeks late, if ever. Dragons Dogma is still out of update with the Steam version, and that's just one example. But i will buy all old games there, they just run better.

Source?

My source is that I was imagining things, looks like you can't buy games off there anyway, it's just an app for what they give away with prime

>implying I didn't buy might and magic 6
The O stands for old

Because if it's DRM free there is no reason to pirate it?

Because not everyone is a poorfag that needs to pirate to be able to play games.
Also, DRM-free content deserves support. I prefer playing games without an anal-plug up my ass.

You are some fucking bipoc.
