But it was at least trying to be a Halo game and honor it's spirit, even if it failed
Also I remember the beginning and some middle areas being a decent enough start, there was just no pay off and the middle was a lot of boring fighting those lame forerunner shits

Humans weren't explicitly stated to be the only ones who could launch the installation.

He never says that, 343 knew MC because it was a leftover from early drafts of the story where it was a Marathon sequel, the idea was that MC travelled back in time and fired Halo for the first time there was even a Marathon level made as a prequel of sorts, but as you can obviously tell Bungie didn't follow through with it

Starting with H2 humans are referred to as reclaimers. I think the idea that humans might be forerunners died before H2 even released
