Yeah but the entire environment they're in is way different. Defiler as a single unit are the only reason BW Zerg have a late game at all. It's like how mutas are technically better in SC2 than they are in SC1, but in practice they're 10x better and more important in SC1 than they are in SC2.

all the really passionate talented artists who made these characters left the industry forever after getting treated like garbage by the worthless corporate scum that remains.

I worked in a place with a supervisor who worked on shit like fucking Battle Chess, and he's still fucking phenomenal with his artwork, but video games are no longer part of his life. they never will be again, and it's because of fucks like Blizzard even before Activision, because of fucks like Bethesda who buy a person's dreams and then kicks them to the curb.

I miss the absolute gore fest whenever a zerg building was destroyed.
I also miss the cool building animations too.
Honestly if SC2 had the same level of blood and gore with the current graphics I'm sure I'd would've been rated M.

If a zerg building doesn't have that element of "I wonder what it would feel like to stick my dick in there", it wasn't designed right.

SC1 was mocked for looking too much like Warcraft so they did a complete 180 on the art style.

This is exactly how I feel about the quality of games today. I almost feel like I'm the crazy one for feeling like everything is a worse GAME nowadays dressed up with modern graphics. Persona 5 combat has all the complexity of fucking Pokemon and Pokemon has been the same game for nearly three decades. And Western companies are simply creatively bankrupt - Blizzard for all its fucking faults at least (until recently) knew sex sells and now it doesn't even believe that.
