Bro, it is time to let go of this nonsense. Halo 2 was an unfinished mess and Anniversary was the last chance to actually add in a proper ending to that game and they didn't. Halo 3 ends the trilogy perfectly, heroic sacrifices are made, Cortana and Chief actually have a nice relationship without the cringe waifu shit Halo 4 added. And Chief is in stasis waiting to be revived. If you are going to erase anything it should be Halo 4 onwards and just write something entirely different.

Maybe in a decade or a decade and a half they can think about a revival, if they really want to. Might work out like Doom 2016. But they need to let it rest for at least that long first.
Hell, they can keep the expanded universe stuff going the way Star Wars did in the periods between RotJ and TPM, or between RotS and the Disney buyout, since that doesn't really exist in the same cultural space as the games. It seems like that's where the real passion in 343 lies, anyways.

Halo doesn't have a good expanded universe, it's the most boring shit ever. Halo's problem before Infinite and after the trilogy is bringing back plot points that were finished in Halo 3, connected the Halo 4 and 5 stuff to it, while also making something that clearly wasn't Halo. Infinite finally ending that junk and moving the series forward since it's been stuck in limbo since 343 took over. No more Covenant, no more Flood, no more Cortana, those stories were finished and done better in the Halo trilogy.

Let Infinite run it's course, throw a bunch of money at them to salvage and fix it in a timely manner. No matter how much money it takes. Then, fire the heads of the studio possibly everyone working there. Then, do a complete reboot of Halo in about 5 years that ignores the continuity established by 4, 5, Wars 2, and Infinite. Maintain what works about Infinite's gameplay and chuck what doesn't.

Infinite will regain it back over time especially if the next campaign comes next year. Series needed to move away from the Covenant, Flood, Halo array firing, and rampant Cortana. 343 made that shit get stale.

The forerunner programs was shill program, in which people like UberNick broke U.K for not Disclosing he was a 343 employee when making halo videos. Halo 4 was way too much of a departure, even in terms of the campaign. Halo was always a very simple story of good vs. evil and one-liner spouting characters, stuff that like a 7 year old kid can get behind and think is badass but also get a emotionally invested into. But, in the background there was all this really intricate lore and backstory to pretty much every single thing. Halo 4 did the inverse and not only made the lore stuff front and center, but did so by also completely lifting the veil on the mystery of what the Forerunner are with the Didact. The only engaging part of 4's narrative is Chief's and Cortana's relationship and even then there's not a single moment in that as emotionally resonant as this:

It wasn't, Halo 4 was the case of 343 having no idea how to continue the series. Covenant were back even though we killed them in Halo 3, game was about Cortana's 99 problems again even though that was also settled in Halo 3, enemies are shitters with logic plague so now we're basically fighting the Flood again but the Flood's in the background meaning Halo 1-3 were meaningless. Infinite finally got us out of that. Halo was stuck in a rut like 2D Metroid was after Super Metroid.

I agree with this. Halo had a fine universe for what the plot of the original trilogy was: everything worked in service of that story. But now that the original trilogy is over we see the series flounders. 343 is desperately trying to cling to factions and characters that already fulfilled their purpose. The few original things they introduce they still stupidly tie to existing groups. It's not like Star Trek or Metroid where the universe is filled with strange and unexplored things, it's all just Forerunners ruins, angry Covenant, and flood.

This, Halo finally spreading its wings is good, even the new encyclopedia introduced new alien species. People are complaining about the Endless being another ancient evil but it's honestly a fresh air from what we've been getting for a while now since it's not Flood or Forerunner, and I like that the Banished are similar to the Covenant but not exactly the same and give somewhat of a different feel. I'm interested in how these things and Offensive Bias are expanded upon going forward.

Go back in time and keep the fight finished. Halo Infinite won't be complete for fucking years and 343 need to die.
