I don't get it. Yeah Spinball itself isn't present but a location from it was given a whole 3D model to represent one of the modes. Wouldn't that only be legitimizing it more, even if only a little bit? Actually kinda bothers my autism considering everything else in the game (besides the new animations) is purely Japanese SEGASonic content, I guess it was the best representation of "Generic Eggman Base" they could find in the classic games?

Eggman steals Metal Sonic from his future self using the Time Stones, and the Mecha Sonics are attempts at recreating Metal without the knowledge of how it was built in the first place yet.
I’ve always liked it and kept it as part of my personal headcanon.

Nah, it's just an overpriced game. We already know everything here is the best version of each game (except Sonic 3, but considering it's mostly the same guys doing it it'll probably also be good), and it attempts to give the early Sonic games a story via the new animated cutscenes.
The issue is Sega is acting like their desperate for cash with this release. They're also not including other games from that generation like Chaotix or the 8-bit games, though I guess they just don't wnat to make them wide screen.

The original Sonic Spinball had cameos from characters like Sally Acorn and Scratch and Grounder, though most don't care about the latter two and Spinball was used by people to claim that Sally Acorn was an official SEGA character since she pops up in it, but they removed all the cameos now.
