Rock and stone game because it's fun
>When will it arrive?
Rimworld is 10/10 on PC and 8/10 on the deck
it's fucking crazy, i received mine shortly after starting 13 sentinels on my switch, and i barely touched my deck because i'm fucking hooked.
i waited MONTHS for this thing, and i can't put down this fucking game, it's a masterpiece.
My fan before update:
FWEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWW
My fan after the update:
Fweeew............pause.......fweeeew
Isn't the point of a handheld console is being able to take it with you anywhere?
Deck is fucking massive
NV with mods
RMAd mine so I'm back to waiting :(
Why is your shit so dusty and greasy already?
Most of the games I tried with it work perfectly. Portable Dead Rising is pretty amazing NGL. But I have been playing through Hob, Dirt Rally, Disco Elysium, and other games sitting in my backlog for years.
Same way I broke in my Steam Controller, I am playing Portal 1&2. This time, I'm going for all cheevos. Portal 1 is sadistic af in this regard.
Valve really needs to take notes from the AYN Odin..

i heard that it doesnt come with a dock for the tv / monitor is it true
lol sorry bro. Shame that valve have decided that a physical fan is a software issue and are now refusing to RMA for it.

This video was sent to Valve, and confirmed to be within the expected parameters of Steam Deck. Steam Deck makes this high-pitched noise on any fan speed level (meaning my personal complaint is not so much about loudness as much as it is about the whine). To get a feel for it, make sure you can hear the background noise before you hear Steam Deck fans start to ramp up its fans.
Real-world implications mean that the fan noise and whine will annoy anyone within a 3-meter radius in-home, as it will overpower any laptop you have at home and will compete with PS4 in terms of noise and whine.
If you are thinking of playing on the couch while your significant other watches tv, or in bed while others might be sleeping, forget about it. If you want to download something at night, you need to leave it as far as possible and close the door between you and the device, but beware, that the whine will travel through ventilation. If you turn the device on in the office, everyone will know you started gaming because of the noise.
On the positive side, probably nobody wants to sit near you in public transport with that noise and while wearing active noise-canceling headphones you don’t hear that noise or whine anyway.
Please do keep in mind, that in this video demonstration, the device has not had time to heat up nor is it connected to the charger, so this is not even the highest rpm speed (therefore whine and noise) the device can do. Putting phone nearby steam deck with the charger connected to Steam Deck and game running measured 59DB.
How do I check when it will arrive? I see nothing on account details.
>joy-con sticks
dropped
it's for me
It will have in the shipping details a tracking number which will link to a Fedex tracking site where it will say when it does ship and where it is en route to you.
Why would i spend any of my time watching something with a creature like that
Why would you have a problem watching a tech video from a fat nerd? Are you a woman?
What did he mean by this?
Not paying 230 for that card.
>hour
I wish
>When will it arrive?
July or August, most likely. I cope by telling myself that will give them time to get any software issues resolved.
How easy is it? Do you have a link to a video guide?
I know this is a pathetic thing to ask, but if I live with my parents and my mom sleeps in a room adjacent to mine, is the fan loud enough to be heard through the wall?
>pathetic
Families should live together, user.
But to answer your question...ehhh....probably? Not much, but enough for it to be background noise.
Not at all but anyone inside the room will hear it
Its pretty easy if youre patient and can read but no i only have a github
Are you willing to use konsole commands as part of the set up for MO2?
>beware, that the whine will travel through ventilation
lel. Does it seek out victims?
>playing on the couch while your significant other watches tv
Where do you think you are?
>got the shit fan
>thumbstick grinds a bit
Not sure whether to go through the RMA hastle which is a crap shoot or to just wait for parts to become available since it looks easy enough to replace. Apart from this I really like the thing.
Steam Deck is very small
You have big hands.
The beta branch of the latest update solves the noisy fan problem, the latest update has the new fan curve but it has a bug that can remove it in certain circumstances which the beta doesn't have or fixes.
>"ogre-sama?"
>"yes, my wife?"
>"We need to decorate our home, ogre-sama. I was thinking we could get some pic-"
"A CHAIN"
>"ogre-sama? Are you sure, we could perhaps have some flow-"
"A SINGLE CHAIN"
"I...but...ogre-sama.."
"YOU MAY HANG A BASKET OF LEAVES FROM IT"
KEK i didn't see it
uh
Playing little kings story. I beat it on the Wii when it first came out so it's nice playing a version that runs in 60fps
Can you access the bios on the steam deck? I'm just wondering why people are waiting on a software update for fan curve changes. It seems like something you could deal with yourself.
Same, bro
I wish one day suffering will end.
Here comes the Mod Organizer 2 airplane, I got bored of waiting for someone else to figure it out
PREREQUISITES
>Have the game installed and have run it once
>Be not stupid
>Install Protontricks from Discover flathub.org
>Download the MO2 installer exe github.com
>If your game is installed onto a microSD card, run after installing Protontricks from Discover:
flatpak override --user /run/media/mmcblk0p1 "com.github.Matoking.protontricks"
>Right Click > Open with Protontricks Launcher the MO2 installer exe
>Choose the game you want to install MO2 for from the Protontricks Launcher window
>When prompted for an install path, install to one of the following paths, be warned that spaces in the path will make it not work:
Z:\home\deck\.local\share\Steam\steamapps\common\ for internal storage
Z:\run\media\mmcblk0p1\steamapps\common\ for microSD storage
>Download mo2installer.tar.gz github.com
>Inside mo2installer.tar.gz, Copy main.exe from the steam-redirector folder to your game's folder
>Add an underscore to the filename of your game's launcher executable (_FalloutNVLauncher.exe, _SkyrimLauncher.exe, etc)
>Rename main.exe to the original filename of your game's launcher executable
>Make a folder called modorganizer2 in your game's folder and file called instance_path.txt inside that folder
>Write the following to the file:
Z:\home\deck\.local\share\Steam\steamapps\common\\ModOrganizer.exe for internal storage
Z:\run\media\mmcblk0p1\steamapps\common\\ModOrganizer.exe for microSD storage
>Whenever you start your game through Steam, it should start Mod Organizer 2 instead now
>Proceed to use Mod Organizer 2 normally, you should already know how to install Script Extender and all that
>Constanze is best witch
You need to hold the Volume Down button when the Deck is completely shut off and not suspending and then turn it on, with a keyboard attached so you can actually navigate and get to the boot options setting from the boot manager screen.
Fan curve isn't editable in most cases under Linux even with pwmconfig except with editing or changing/updating the BIOS. The best you may be able to get is changing it with a script possibly but that is a pain. Since it's already solved in a beta branch like I said in there is no longer a need to mess around with things unofficially when installing the beta branch is easier.
Can it play Endless Space 2 and Xcom 2 well?
I travel alot so can I attach a keyboard and mouse and play a round of dota 2? Or is the screen too small for that option. My gaming laptop crapped out and I'm looking for an alternative and I work remotely for 3 weeks every month
They really dont
>ayn odin has a silent fan even on max
they really do.
Has anyone gotten Blue Reflection to work? It just crashes for me after the first few lines of dialogue.
you know you can think both the steam deck and ayn odin are good devices, its not a competition
>Steam Deck
> Can it play Endless Space 2 and Xcom 2 well?

I don't know if endless space 2 has gamepad controls but XCOM 2 definitely playable with gamepad.
same dude uploaded a video yesterday showing that he got a new one and it's far far better
youtu.be
and that's without the newest update that improved it a ton for people
I wouldn't trust anything tech-related from anyone that doesn't look like that
maybe i'm retarded, but that sounds exactly the same
my old laptop sounds like a fucking nuclear carrier engine. my deck is slightly louder than my switch, but that's it
apparently i got lucky with this so called "fan lottery"
It's both a lot louder in the first video, and the fan ramps up and whines even when there's no load in the first video. Look at 10 seconds in on the first one. It's not until he's ingame in the second video it even starts to make a noise.
Kek
i got mine yesterday and i thought the thing would fly away from my hands when i launched DMCV
in comparison, my Switch V2 fan is pretty much inaudible
I probably wouldnt play games that heavy on my Deck, I cap it at the gc era and my fans just purr
other than fan-speed,the deck is by far the better device, come back when DRG works.
my sides
glad you got it working, hopefully it can help someone
you could just bind the controls for deck
>other than fan-speed,the deck is by far the better device
Well, I mean, it's half the size, half the price, has a 1080p screen.. Anyone who is just getting a deck for emulation would be better off with one.
