Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

At the very least, I hope it brings more players in and gets more active servers going.

I saw on twitter Splash Damage made their own vanilla server last year for their 20th anniversary. I wonder if it's still going. Last time I checked, all the non-legacy servers were bots.

Playing Enemy Territory was how I cut my teeth with aiming hitscan weapons in FPS games. The automatics were all accurate and players always are strafing in firefights since it doesn't decrease your accuracy like in Counter-Strike, so you'd always been shooting targets while you're moving. The high TTK and large 64 player servers meant constant action.

I would only play as the Axis in RTCW and ET since they had the coolest uniforms.

I played vanilla RTCW and Enemy Territory for years, then I moved out and went to college, came back a few years later, and suddenly everyone was fucking godlike at the game. Had to stop playing for good cause I wasn't having fun anymore.

I'd go Engineer just because he had the most nades. Wolfenstein did grenades right. You had to use strategic and tacitcal thinking to know when to pull your grenade out, when to start cooking it, and when to throw it with accuracy to actually hit someone with it.

Great game, but medics were vastly overpowered in ET (more HP, regeneration, self-healing, adrenaline) and most games on ETpro servers just turned into deathmatching with Medics while the more complex teamplay from RTCW is ignored.
