it was pretty fucking good

Pure shit

too repetitive even for it's genre.
you end up grinding for narrative progression after meeting your (highly fuckable) mom.
fighting the same battles over and over just for a drop of dialogue sucks

>only 3 levels long
lol
Game is fun for two hours or so. Not worth beating 10 times to get the "ending".

pros:
Great concept, good gameplay, excellent visuals
cons:
wasted potential (roguelite), terrible character design used as a vehicle for woke agenda

it's not bad as far as psychological warfare in the form of entertainment goes

I'm on my 7th win now and it's kinda wearing down on me

>terrible character design used as a vehicle for woke agenda
wrong and wrong

It was good.

It’s very enjoyable, just wish it was longer

it was game of the year

>anything with (((bisexual))) representation
>good

It's good but the grind is a little too much, I would not blame people at all for stopping after they beat Hades once. It's like they don't want people to see the real ending.

This is it for me. I like these shorter run based games, but every run felt the same in Hades. Even the three furies barely changed up as a boss fight and the rest didn't change at all (yeah the hydra shoots different beams, for one attack). The enemy variety is so little that you just clear through most without any thought, and most of the blessings are just passive damage modifiers with something like a status or a knockback added. Closest thing to real mix-ups was taking a hammer to alter a weapon attack.

it's probably the only game I'd ever say that it's strength was how much dialog it had. it's seriously impressive how lines never repeated in the 50 some hours i gave it. i liked the idea of the reward for clearing a run being another tasty snippet of conversation with mommy dearest. in retrospect you could critique the relatively low enemy variety. but I'd say it's above average good

SEX
WITH
DUSA
reminder the femoid who voiced her cucked us out of an actual romance with Dusa because "ew im not voicing that, GROSS!"

It was bad and overhyped because muh meme characters

Above average but repetitive and a bit disappointing on the mobs side of things.

It was very enjoyable although i dropped it after getting to mommy for the 3rd time and realizing the game was out of meaningful content.

Stuffing Dusa in my pants so I can get head while fighting my way to the surface

>pozzed
>good
No.

Really good, still play it every now and again. Best game from 2020

>too repetitive even for it's genre
it's interesting how wide the difference in opinion is about this. all my runs felt fun and different even though I played long enough to max out all Weapon Aspects, Relationships, & Summons.
I think part of this was I almost always chose the weapon with the shadow boost (so I rarely used the same weapon twice in a row) but even when I used Poseidon Sword 6 times in a row to unlock the 2nd Skelly statue I still didn't feel bored.
>just wish it was longer
I'm dying for more "Hades-like" content. I guess Binding of Isaac has a lot of similarities but I couldn't get into it when I tried it years ago. maybe I should give it another chance...

People only like this game because it has a ton of Rick and Morty tier unique voiced dialogued to keep them motivated each attempt.

Just ok, largely by virtue of being really fucking repetitive and being 2d
Very little enemy variety, boons were generally uninteresting and didn't really impact your play style most of the time
Being 2d vastly limits your ability to make movement interesting and so the whole game feels flat

Also the "story" was the worst part of the game imo, no idea what people are talking about when they praise this. Doing a half hour run or whatever to get two sentences of meaningless dialogue is not how you tell a story.

6/10 not the worst thing I've ever played but easily the most overrated game in years

>he didn't bring mommy home
ngmi

It's good and fun. Yeah, it's slightly pozzed which makes it loses points, but for what it is, it is pretty solid.

it has gameplay depth, good music, good story due to the well written characters but thats it is always the same gameplay loop if you like the gameplay loop you are set. which is rare in modern games.

It was fun but I think they really overestimated how much I was willing to beat it to get an actual ending

It's shit. People shill it because it's woke.

>this is who voiced dusa
umm bros... I'm in love...

Surprised to see this never got an expansion or anything.
Would have dropped an extra 30 hours if it had 2/3 extra weapons and a few extra levels

Here's my opinion as an autist with thousands of hours in various roguelites.
It's a great game. Good visuals, tons of dialogue, core gameplay is satisfying and fun. Where it falls flat though is that the developers clearly don't know what makes a roguelite fun. They think that simply making you repeat the gameplay 10+ times in a row to complete the story is good enough.

There's little variation in the actual gameplay - every run you always go through the same 3 stages, encounter the same sets of upgrades (that usually don't synergize and instead overwrite each other, which is lame as fuck), fight the same bosses, see the same npc rooms, etc. Sure after you beat the game you can see small changes like the pact of punishment changing the boss battles up a bit, or being able to fight charon, but for the most part they're just things that surprise you once then you're done with them. There's no alternative bosses, no secret floors (yes I know technically there's a secret floor, but it's not really a floor, more like a single room), no secret weapons (there's the aspects but most of them are just very gimmicky and not useful), etc.

The pact of punishment seems like the developers' last second effort to make the game last longer. It's just a bunch of stat changes for the most part. Oh you see more enemies! Oh things cost more! Oh you will take more damage! It's boring. It's only fun to autists who like to crank up all the difficulty sliders in every game to prove their worth to others.

All in all, it's hard to compare this game to the titans of the genre like Isaac or Nuclear Throne, but then again they had tons of updates and DLC patches so it makes sense they'd have more to offer. Supergiant doesn't like to make sequels or DLCs so there will never be more content to Hades, which is sad, because major content updates is what keeps games of this genre alive. That, and modding support.

Hasn't this game been out for years? It's not FOTM just because I, the user, play it late to the party

Ill repost what I wrote bit earlier in other thread.

I'd agree it's good if it didnt have only 4 floors of content, and that fucking death faggot spawn was humanly manageable.
After 100h of rng bullshit just to get achievements, made 32 heat run and deleted game.

I think that Hades is a great game if one approaches it as a story based game that just happens to have roguelite elements, but yep, it’s certainly no Isaac or Nuclear Throne on the matter of replayability and is bound to disappoint if one expects hundreds of hours of content from it.

To be fair, the devs also made a big mistake with the amount of grind required for the true final definitive ending, I think that the game ended with wuite a positive note after 10 completions despite repetition slowly creeping in, but going for the true true ending really soured my experience with it. It’s a good game, but just doesn’t have enough content for that kind of playtime, and guiding players towards such a grind is dumb.

Boring

i remember that post

Yea Forums is fucking retarded and just sees woke agenda even when its not there.
They will also complain that roguelike/roguelites are repetitive, that shooters have guns, and that racing games are too fast-paced.

Getting 10 wins isn't that much of a grind. And if you're trying to clear up your side missions you've at least got a little bit of something else going on as well.

>racing games are too fast-paced.
I'm currently looking for investors for my snail-racing 2000 simulator.

>roguelike/roguelites are repetitive
it's a genre based around replayability, but it doesn't mean that you should make the game repetitive. you're supposed to add new content to keep the game fresh every so often throughout your attempts and pace it so that you don't see all the content within the first 10 hours of the game like hades does.

>terrible character design used as a vehicle for woke agenda
if you're talking about ares and athena, their complexion being bronze i'm guessing is from being embroiled in the flames of war considering they're both battle gods. that's probably what supergiant was going for.

Athena is bronze, ares is iron.

Everyone loves Megaera's voice but I fucking HATE it. The vocal fry is annoying as fuck.

>death faggot spawn was humanly manageable.
who?

It was really that good.

Thanatos spawns are cancerous.

As a game to waste your time in, you can do a lot worse. Every frame is gorgeous, like you would expect from Supergiant, and the music is fairly dynamic. The game tries to steer you into certain pantheon combos, but does a good job of keeping you in the cost/benefit headspace which I find most roguelites that hold my attention tend to do. If you aren't okay with the 4 levels then what more do you want? Another gilded frame around this neat little game? I'm progroooosing

I hate shield dudes and I hate wheel niggas.
Fuck level 3

it's just free health and he kills enemies for you

>The enemy variety is so little that you just clear through most without any thought
Only weak point of the game. Imagine Hades with (insert your favourite RL here)'s variety.

yeah I forgot ares has a silver streak across his eyes. my point still stands kinda.

What I meant was the quest/dialogue progression.

Tell me about Lucifer. Why does Hades hate him so?

>what more do you want?
More level variety. More room layouts. More shit to do at the contractor. More bosses. An ability to loop instead of having to end the run every time.

Besides, if you do rooms flawlessly, seems like he wont even appear in a run.

Fair enough.

He's literally giving his heart to you, based autists

Someone please spoil me. After getting Mom to come home , will every run just end with a black screen and narrator line?

yeah

Yeah, and he'll play the line for running out of lines way before he actually does.

Pretty damn good. I hate roguelikes and this one managed to keep me engaged all the way to 100%.

I always kill more for that sweet sweet centaur heart.

Dead Cells but far worse

>finished the game
>finished the postgame
>kept grinding to get the last achievements
>still haven't run out of dialogue
I'm impressed.

I wish the heat levels were more interesting and dynamic instead of just more ways to buff enemy hp and damage. Extreme measures and the miniboss version were fun, but meh I'm not interested in completing the pacts of punishment.

I actually thought Skelly was going to die. Fuck you Skelly I almost teared up.

Boring repetetive shit.

Pretty dull game. Good style, but all of the run variety is chosen before it starts. Then you fight the same small pool of enemies and bosses, picking largely the same boons. Also, isometric action games are a fucking meme.

once i got the ending i lost any and all desire to play it ever again.
for a genre that prides itself on replayability, that should tell you enough.

It's pretty fucking good. Got all of the achievements and now do a run a day working up to 32 heat. A game hasn't captured me like this in a long time.

I won one time against Hades and did not feel it was worth playing further. It was fun though, but redoing it over and over is not for me. Maybe for a bit, but just for Meg and no1 else

The pace of the story is really really bad to make it a good story game. After the first hour or two it's absolutely glacial and I very quickly lost interest in trying to follow along
