The funny part is that you're shitting on these designs but in the grand scheme of things they're really not that bad.
The part you can't tell from this image is that B4B's characters have some of the worst, most grating writing and voice acting I've seen in years. It's extremely rare that I actually consider muting voice lines, but B4B is something else.
Bad lines delivered even worse and constant, constant voice line reuse so it grates on you that much faster

A lot of multiplayer games these days feature constant, excessive shouting.
My least favorite have to be female characters because apparently shouting obscenities in a high pitch is considered a suitable replacement for a personality by video game developers.

I was there from the start, my man. I actually don't mind the game itself, I enjoyed my time with it (as a premade 4 stack, of course)
It blows my fucking mind that they didn't have a random-level-playlist function. Just chuck five random stages together and rotate them weekly. The card system makes this possible. So why is it months and months post-launch and they've still added nothing?
He's a conservative doomsday prepper type. Wildly overhated by the other members of the cast to the point where it was actually distracting. It's not like L4D where Louis and Francis rib each other, Holly (baseball bat girl) is just a straight-up cunt to him constantly. He's voiced by the guy who did Doc Ock in Spiderman PS4. Overall a pretty decent character, one of the least grating performances.
Meta-wise he's very unimpressive, he gives his teammates more ammo. Before all the nerfs this was useful but not nearly good enough to make him a competitive pick and after the nerfs ammo doesn't matter so who cares.

Now that I think of, they should have based all characters on movies. Maybe they would have had more charm than what they have currently.
I get it that they wanted to make them relatable to a broad audience who wants to get represented in media, but then again, not my cup of tea. World War Z had nicer characters per episode. But then again, they are all forgettable.

Maybe they have terrible direction in their dev team, and therefore no fitting vision, aim, and long term goal, compared to a dev team like Deep Rock Galactic.
I've only skimmed through what they added with the recent DLC, and it doesn't sound that impressive overall to most people at least. I hope they turn the table this year, so maybe I can get my coop mates into it.
Yes, there is no way that they could have done massive interactions between all of them, if at all. But they could have at least circumvented it by characters giving their takes on generic places, and have other characters comment on it. I didn't notice anything like that back when I tried the game.
