This game looked like it was gonna be a gay furry Zelda knockoff but it surprised me, being a better Zelda game than some more modern Zelda's. With an added mix of some mechanics games like losing upgrade currency on death, checkpoints respawn enemies, grabbing your spirit to recover said currency. I tried it on gamepass and have been sticking with it.
You find pieces of the "instruction booklet" which will serve hints and is a subtle guide on where you go. Otherwise you're on your own. Very good if you miss the games where you are just thrown out there and have to explore to figure anything out. I like the idea, reminds me of reading instructions as a kid when they were more detailed and did have hints/item explanations. The difficulty is there too, I'm sure some of you will find it easy but for me it's there.
Just wanted to throw it out there if you like LoZ for NES I am confident you'll like this game. Worth a shot
I pirated TUNIC and enjoyed it so much that I will gladly shill for it (for FREE!)
Connor Flores
I'm not you faggot, sorry to take away from your tranny spam and nigger worship thread. Just put some actual thought into my post instead of some gay one liner
Why would you buy a game that's free on Game Pass?
Leo Barnes
>normal people Play tunic fags, its like zelda but with shovel knight money death mechanics, don't forget to get the booklet pieces if you're getting filtered >shills This game looked like it was gonna be a gay furry Zelda knockoff but it surprised me, being a better Zelda game than some more modern Zelda's. Why do they always fall for the same mannerisms? making advertising-style posts is the #1 way to out yourselves as shills but they always fall on the rake.

the xbox app is fucked on my pc and it's easier to just fork over the extra cash than to try and fix it
Eli Gray
god forbit people wanting to discuss vidya on the vidya board in a manner beyond 1 liner catch phrases.
Michael Russell
My only complaint so far is how much shit is just hidden behind walls/terrain. I like the idea of hidden stuff and secrets, but I feel like I'm spending half the game just grinding my face against walls hoping I'll slip behind something.
Wyatt Davis
I apparently wrote like a shill without any knowledge on how to do that. Maybe I should get paid. Just tried to be thoughtful about the game and be somewhat concise. You guys can go be fags about it I'm gonna go do some cardio.
Thanks, but it's whatever man. Let Yea Forums be Yea Forums at this point.
Caleb Bailey
The lock-on does tilt the camera enough to make most secrets hidden that way visible enough. But some shit like the ladder leading to the desert island is still pretty well hidden regardless.
Cooper Ward
This game is great and everyone should play it. I'll buy it if it ever gets a physical Switch release.
Oliver Brooks
>With an added mix of some mechanics like losing upgrade currency on death, checkpoints respawn enemies, grabbing your spirit to recover said currency. Would you describe it as the Dark Souls of Zelda games?
Mason Ramirez
Don't forget, over half of the users of Yea Forums are underage.
Adrian Bennett
No because I hate using that comparison.

>play with invincibility cheat on >still died >twice
Anyone else disappointed that a stick only run is impossible? I played death's door and really liked the umbrella run in that. I figured out to get the flame talisman early, to make the stick more powerful (fire does fuck in this game. enemies can even propagate fire between themselfs) and the draw back of being set to 1 HP is a pretty cool added challenge. But all that got smashed as soon as I reached the first stone boss again, who cannot by hurt by the stick at all.
Matthew Hill
I tried to avoid it
Parker Bailey
Do you dual boot or anything? I switch between Linux and Windows (only for games that dont run on Linux) and the time gets fucked up. If time is wrong then no MS app will work properly
Isaiah Parker
No dualboot. I did uninstall the app once my sub ran out several years ago. It worked somewhat fine back then. Now I simply can't download anything and I've given up on trying to fix it. Steam just werks.
Benjamin Kelly
>being a better Zelda game than some more modern Zelda's It's not a zelda game at all, it's just a mix of poorly implemented dark souls combat with fez puzzles The manual gimmick was cool but thta's about it
Nathan Roberts
can someone explain to me where the hell to start with the golden path? Just got the bad ending and now I'm lost. I do want to solve the puzzle myself but where do I even start?
I would help but you posted a dumb frog, so figure it out on your own.
Easton Gomez
This game was great but most of the bosses are terrible. Still reccomend it though.

Played 3 hours of this and it was frustrating as hell. While very pretty to look at, (nice isometric SNES era art with plenty of colors and the instruction booklet having the old school game manual feel) this is vastly overshadowed by the fact that I have no clue what I'm doing except ringing two bells because LOL DARK_SOULS REFERENCE!!1! And almost as annoying is having to find each page of the manual in game. Yeah, you don't start the game with access to the instruction manual, you have to find each page in the world map. Want to know how stamina works? You gotta find the manual page to learn how to do it. You want to learn how to level up? Find the manual page. I didn't know how to level up until after my 2nd hour of play.
But none of that is as annoying as the fact that 85% of all instructions and signs and menus is inane runic gobbledygook that you can't read. I've been picking up items and none of them have an english description so I have no clue what any of them do and I'm not going to experiment with them if I don't know what they are. For the instruction booklet you can't read the runes so you have to piece together a general picture of what to do based on the pictures in the booklet. I dunno if the devs thought they were being really clever by making everything so immersive but some things don't need to be immersive, making in game instructions impossible to read is a stupid move. What's the point of making flavor text if I can't read it. I mean look at this page. You really don't know what's going on, all you can do is do your best to guess what they're trying to tell you. Or maybe my character is illiterate, who knows.
I don't hate the game but I am frustrated by it. My question is, is the payoff for struggling through this game worth it? Is the ending worth it? I don't want to play a game and finish it and say 'wow, what a waste of time.' Does it get better?
This game is the best ever, much better than Elden Ring
Matthew Hall
I was sorta enjoying finding secrets in every corner.
Liam Jackson
Most of that page is pretty easy to figure out, and if you're not willing to experiment at all then maybe you're just a brainlet who needs shit spoon fed to you.
Bentley Richardson
If you already dislike the games core idea of figuring stuff out by yourself with the vague clues that are provided to you, then no, the game "does not get better".
If you need everything clearly spelled out to you to not struggle or enjoy a game, then this game simply is not for you - and that is alright.
Kayden Morales
you dont need english to understand whats going on in the pages. most of the time is just figuring out stuff on your own without a tutorial to prompt you with random shit on what to do
Lincoln Clark
If you look at the pages in order, the maps and pictures depict locations that you go in order. Unfortunately you do have to explore and experiment with the terrain and items.
Thing is we gotta remember not every game is for everyone and if you don't prefer this type of experience it's better not to frustrate yourself with it or just take a breather and really try to figure it out. Half the shit you can figure out before you find the page. But it is kinda fun for people like me, but maybe not for you.
Owen Ross
Is it so hard to tell me what the candy stick bomb is? What do golden coins do? For what possible reason did they make the in-game booklet full of moon runes? It's asinine.
Caleb Jackson
OP here done with my cardio. I see the thread has calmed down a bit.
You uncover pages for these things, while moon runes are there the pictures do depict it. The candy bombs you just toss and see what happens - you already can infer what they do by knowing they're bombs and look like TNT sticks.
Do you want me to tell you what the coins are for or do you want to continue on yourself. It took my a while to find the page.
The page clearly says you throw coins in the well to get something. Again, your fear of experimenting at all is crippling you from enjoying the game.
Noah Long
I'm not doing the golden path/fairy saving shit Great game otherwise
Aaron Brown
>new mechanics like losing upgrade currency and getting it back when you collect your spirit Ah yes, the brand new mechanic that every new game since DS3 became popular has been copying, including actual indie darlings like hollow knight, how fucking innovative to be inspired by zelda AND darksouls, surely no one has made that before!
Charles Brooks
But the thing is I remember getting games with instruction manuals in English, you didn't have to puzzle out what the instructions were trying to tell you.
I actually did test the candy cane bombs on the lone spear and shield dude on the catwalk in on the world map, they didn't do what I thought they were going to.
Actually I didn't know that because I don't have that page, its literally the first image I pulled off of google.
Carter Turner
Isometric darksouls cringe and boring
Brayden Reyes
>For what possible reason did they make the in-game booklet full of moon runes? To emulate the feeling of playing a game in a foreign language. It just doesn't sound like this game's for you. Play something else.
Isaiah Rivera
I love 2D Zelda. Should I get this on switch or PC?
Jayden Rivera
there's no reason not to pirate it and give it a test drive first
Gabriel Martinez
Tunic was such a piece of shit with the clunky terrible combat. Slowly trudge up to the enemy and come to a dead stop so you can slowly wag your sword at them, get stuck in an autocombo so the "dodge" mechanic (which is supposed to be snappy and responsive) is now delayed by several hundred milliseconds, eats your input so now you do a third sword swing instead of the dodge and get hit. Developer was foolish enough to get tricked into thinking that "Dark Souls" style dodging was something to be copied. Glad I pirated it. Never trust indiedevs.
I don't mind when a game comes up with its own cipher for signs and posters in game, but I draw the line at making the instruction booklet, the first thing you go to for reference, is unreadable.
Wyatt Parker
How many games this year have you played the foreign version of?
Dylan Stewart
>like losing upgrade currency on death >grabbing your spirit to recover said currency.
There has never been a single game where this mechanic ever enriched the experience. What I end up doing is just not caring about losing the currency/EXP and just playing until I hit a wall. If this happens, I just find a place to farm and do that until my character is upgraded enough so that I can overcome the wall. All it does is just ruin the pacing of games when I hit those walls.
Justin Parker
imagine being so bad at video games you can't do combat in a fox game. keep playing on no fail mode because I know you will need
Levi Walker
Naw I just uninstalled it.
Jonathan Parker
Just once. Kirby. Is this relevant?
Kayden Walker
Finishing the golden path was easy enough but half of those fairy puzzles were fucking impossible without a guide.
