>4-6/10 game comes out
>gets shit on for being mediocre
>10 years later
>nostalgia adds 3 points to the score and nostalgiafags overrate the hell out of it, sometimes even saying it was some misunderstood masterpiece
Post some examples of this
4-6/10 game comes out
You first
This garbage
>muh nostalgia
Why is this website obsessed with this fucking word?
It was always an 8
You just got filtered
It's a misunderstood masterpiece though.
It was shit and kino at the same time
Back in that wonderful era when devs actually tried
But soulless globohomo corpo suits wouldn't give them more time
Not necessarily a bad game but before pewdiepie made minecraft let's plays a few years ago everyone shat on it for being a dumb child game now they praise it for its creativity
it was never good
How out of touch do you have to be to type this out
Grey:the game
no one thinks you're smart for pretending to like a bad game
Still think it's aggressively mediocre, the Crytek games are better.
Except Crysis 2, that game was so fucking bad what were they thinking
I like it because I like stuff featuring Africa. It doesn't have anything to do with being smart, you insecure little bitch.
It was novel when it came out, zoom-zoom. Ubisoft left a void both in the stealth genre when they abandoned splinter cell and in the action genre when they finished the prince of persia trilogy. Ass Creed combined them both along with a decent story.
>those horse riding segments
I'm sorry do you not remember the mountain of minecraft cringe compilations between 2012 and 2016? Everyone hated minecraft for being fucking everywhere and the sea of minecraft let's players that plagued youtube for a decade
>you can't enjoy something because I say so
Okay
>other people hated thing
>so I must also think the same!
You don't understand the Yea Forums dynamic. No one here is changing their opinion on anything, ever. The effect you're witnessing is people playing the game more recently when they're pre-disposed to expect a flawed but decent game vs people playing it at launch who were primed by reading lukewarm reviews.
It's always been a good game though and I've always said so, check the archives, I was posting under the name 'Anonymous' back then.
>calling me, who played the game on release, a zoom-zoom.
it was never on par with PoP and you barely can call this a stealth game. its a tech demo with few novel ideas, but meh overall. I thought so then, and still thinking so now.
it was never good, but got fixed its problems in AC2
Wind Waker
While not quite regarded as a masterpiece, Cataclysm.
7th gen was the worst gen by far. Retarded 25 year old newfags like think it was innovative or something but it was so fucking boring and stagnant I almost stopped playing games forever during it. Your typical 7th gen game was "let's take a 5th/6th gen game and dumb it down so it sells better." It was also the era of annoying ass minigames, which I genuinely see people on here defend now as being fun and not pointlessly time wasting. Fucking 7th gen was so fucking bad.
>it was never on par with PoP
PoP went to shit after Sands of Time anyway
Still better than later gens.
>nostalgiafags overrate the hell out of it, sometimes even saying it was some misunderstood masterpiece
So basically every 3D Sonic game?
moar liek gay: the game, amirite?
Old dark souls
Except the definitely were 7+/10 games for their time, but nostalgiafags keep worshipping the fuck out of them
Same with Thief. Plenty of shitty levels, issues with the AI, and generally some really repetitive gameplay. Still a good game, but not the 10/10 best stealth game ever people say it is.
I can think of quite a few.
To people who don't spend all day on Yea Forums its just another game their kids play.
>Retarded 25 year old newfags like (You) think it was innovative or something
I said it was novel, not innovative, you illiterate retard. I specifically mentioned SC and PoP since AC gameplay was a combination of those two. Also, I'm 30 and played it on PC on launch. Same with the other Ubi titles from that age.
>but it was so fucking boring and stagnant I almost stopped playing games forever during it.
"I must have muh dopamine and sparkly numbers on my screen otherwise it's boring."
Fucking shitters don't remember that games used to require a little patience.
>it was novel when it came out
lmao it was normiecore as fuck, all the Yea Forums types hardcore gamers shat on it for being dumbed down Prince of Persia with empty open world
Far Cry 2 wasnt shit on back then, the fuck you on about?
I don't pretend to like it.
I do like it, because it's good. Get better taste you fucking queer
>14yo "hardcore" gaymurz shat on a new game because it wasn't exactly what they wanted
Wow, it's like modern day Yea Forums
it's atmospheric but that's about it.
yes it was
I played it when it came out, all I remember was
>malaria mechanic not even being a deterrent, just annoying press G to make the screen go to normal
>niggers endlessly respawning in outposts
>whole game was basically driving, shooting the same few dudes at checkpoints, then continue to shoot more people rinse and repeat
>weapons and vehicles stopping working just meant that you had to press a button and see an animation
I'll give to it that the flamethrower was really cool though
the only game that applies to is Heroes and maybe Colors. People have been arguing about SA1 and Generations since they launched, 06, Unleashed, Forces are all mocked to various degrees, and SA2 has the opposite problem where everyone is trying to pretend they didn't enjoy it when it came out and that it is bad now for some reason.
Blacklist and WW are actually good, The Evil Within has had a consistent reputation of ok/good, and Elden Ring is less than a year old.
>enter room
>loud noise coming from either the floor or the ceiling
wow such horror
>normie faggots still mad at souls games for not having baby easy difficulty
Warrior Within wasn't considered bad though, people just were disappointed that they went the edgy route instead of sticking to the whimsical tone of Sands of Time
>and Elden Ring is less than a year old
2fag....
>game has an ass ton of blur and bloom
>"it has such a dreamy otherworldly atmosphere"
why do people always say this dumbass shit
Doom 3 was on its own, people didn't like it at the time because it was not "Doom".
It was negatively received compared to its predecessor not just for the tone but the over reliance on backtracking compared to SoT, while also butchering the Prince's character. Only in recent years did people starting saying it's actually the best game in the series and a true masterpiece, when it's anything but.
when i played far cry 2 i didn't look up reviews didn't seek out others opinion, i just enjoyed it
Farcry 2 and Facry instints is the peak of the series, they actually did something unique and pretty fun to play.
farcry2 is still shit.
they made prince emo cause it was hip at the time
it overhauled SoT's shittastic combat and made it actually fun
then they removed decapitations and blood spurts from TT for no reason
my only criticism of WW is the music, it didn't age well
The music and combat were probably the things I enjoyed most about the game, but I hated the level design, backtracking and the story. Also yeah, turning the Prince into some edgelord while changing his voice actor was retarded.
>but I hated the level design, backtracking and the story
Metroidvania level design is... le bad? Story is simple but it works
So backtracking is suddenly good?
I enjoyed far cry from the start, yeah the malaria thing was annoying but I really enjoyed the scenery.
tom's mod makes it awesome
-GTA 4
-Fallout 3
-Skyrim
-Halo
I'll never understand how this game spawned like 20 fucking sequels
Killzone 2, a fine 6 out of 10 game but fags have made it out like it wasn't fully appreciated during its time, one of the finest shooters of its time? Give me a break
I'm surprised it hasn't happened with Duke Nukem Forever yet
Too shitty for everyone and it didn't sold very well.
fuck you it's cool to roleplay as an assassin
