Getting an itch to play Underrail again and can't wait for Infusion.
Getting an itch to play Underrail again and can't wait for Infusion
what is infusion
>infusion is standalone
Literally don't care. If it doesn't pick up where I left off bringing the ACoNR to North Underrail then I do not care at all.
New Underrail game in development.
Standalone simply means that you can't use the old character. The story will no doubt continue since the game takes place in North Underrail.
when is that coming out?
I really hate the 3D models
Styg, if you read the shit on here, please. Try to make the 2D sprites work how you want instead of outright replacing them with 3D, I beg of you. The sprites were great in Underrail, use your skills to make even better 2D art rather then replacing it
I heard you can use psychic abilities is that true?
yea
I've heard a lot of good and a lot of bad. Sell me on this game.
You can make a build that revolves around shooting sticky acid at people until they melt
Then play it, close 4channel and play some vidya
You fucking faggot
the oligarchy did this
I didn't like it, probably because I could never make an effective character and it took too long to go anywhere. I probably didn't play as intended.
I like mages in cRPGs but only if you end up becoming an OP god by the end
Is psy like that in this game? If not, I'm just gonna make a heavy tank with a giant gun
psi is consistently OP if you know what you're doing
plus being high psi is the only way to get some loredumps
its the best choice overall
But I won't know what I'm doing, I'm gonna play blind otherwise
still go with psi
theres consistent underrail threads on vrpg if you have any trouble or want advice
I already played a bit ages ago, pumped enough points into stealth to stealth around the entire map and always have the first turn in combat without needing any initative
Is that a viable strategy in the entire game?
It's overwhelmingly positive where have you heard "a lot of bad"?
on Yea Forums lmao
to be honest idk desu, never did a stealth build and never used stealth outside of a quest or two
i wouldn't pick psi for a blind first run, if you like this game you'll probably play it again anyway.
Yeah honestly the other user made me nervous about it with his whole "if you know what you're doing" thing, even though he said it's still fine
It was pretty funny that there's this whole initiative stat that decides who goes first but you can just stealth up to the enemy and start blasting
The place where people try to piss on things intentionally? Steam gives you the correct picture on things.
I one shot the last boss with a single psi cast crit on hard and handled groups easily with psionics.
It can be a little dicey against certain foes but underrail makes you learn quickly
It's a very punishing game and if your build is not up to par you're going to get fucked and there is no respec, so you're better off just restarting. The game is also fairly low budget when it comes to sounds and graphics, there is no voice acting, animations are very simple and most sounds are from stock libraries. That said, it's a very engrossing game if you can get into it, low budget or not it's also very very immersive, some characters are very memorable and the lore is also very interesting, although most of the stuff you'll have to piece together yourself.
This game was my first cRPG, and while I don't think it's a good introduction for a new player into the genre, it's still a very good game if you can get into it.
>Yeah honestly the other user made me nervous about it with his whole "if you know what you're doing" thing, even though he said it's still fine
You can pretty much randomize stats if you play on easy and still have fun. The difficulty rates actually work in this game unlike others. Hard is hard and easy is easy.
I'm a grown man, I'm not gonna play an RPG on easy lel
initiative is great to dump until you get into a situation where stealth is not available for you.
I love people complaining about a certain arena fight when they dumped both con and agi/dex and go last and die in 1 round
Fuck it I'll just do heavy armor guy with a minigun, or as close as the game lets me be
Leaving the thread in case of spoilers. Thanks frens
You will need initiative in arena and also cameras can reveal you but otherwise it pretty much guaranties first turn.
Sprites are way, way harder to make than 3d models. A 3d model you create once, then you can animate it to do whatever the fuck you want easily. For sprites, you have to make a new sprite for every frame of every animation you want. It's vastly more time consuming.
There IS a software out there that will create a sprite representation of your 3d model but it's a bit janky and I doubt Stygian even has access to it.
Why don't devs just make a pixellated 3D model and put it in a 2D background
Because it's still obviously a 3d model when it's in motion. Also, 2d backgrounds have exactly the same problem as 2d sprites, you have to make every single one from scratch. Compared to a 3d game where you create a bunch of individual assets, and you can then just populate and re-use them as much as you like. However it's much easier in that case to create a 3d stage, and make it look like 2d sprite work when it's actually 3d models. It's easier for levels than characters simply because most of a level is static.
>you have to make every single one from scratch
Yeah but cRPGs with hand drawn levels look dope
They can, but is it really worth the effort? Pic related is far less effort than making 2d backgrounds, and it still looks great. 2d is more work and easier to fuck up, and the simple reality is most who try it will fuck it up anyway.
Is psi still fucked?
>They can, but is it really worth the effort?
Yep
I'm not in charge of the dev budget, I don't care how time consuming and expensive it is. It looks better
>muh grafix
Actually the exact opposite of that, when you think about it
Not really. It's exactly the same thing, just more contrarian
>Devs should pointlessly spend an enormous amount of dev time on graphics just to please my own brand of autism
>graphics
Actually the exact opposite of that, when you think about it
based game
t. Serb
>Devs should pointlessly spend an enormous amount of dev time on
better than spending an enormous amount of dev time on overly complicating a combat system 99% of the players will just use a meta build for or a cheat tool to completely bypass
I have 400 hours in this and hard is too hard but Normal is too easy, fuck.
play normal with a gimmick build or play hard with with a minmaxed build.
Hard is easy but Dominating is cancer. If you're having trouble on any difficulty, it's solved completely by keeping Pickpocketing skilled up. You'll have 2k+ Charons and ALL of the Hypos by the time you finish Depot A, even ignoring what you get from doing Abrams jobs.
I was trying to do a swords build work on hard, but I have far too little HP and I'm constantly save scumming, it's not fun.
the more you discuss this game on here the more it gets boiled down to "muh builds", which isn't fun
all difficulty options are easy when you make a chemical+energy weapons glass cannon build.
If your favorite part of Fallout 1/2 was raiding the Sierra Army Depot, then you will almost definitely like Underrail.
If, on the other hand, talking The Master to death was your favorite part instead, you probably won't like the game.
Sorry but this game is to difficult. The enemy damage is unbalanced. A better game is Atom RPG.
atom has the "heh" factor for being literally fallout in post soviet russia and some of the dialogue is funny, but as a RPG its really not too great at all. it plays worse than the original fallouts which are like 25 years old by now. the combat system sucks, the perks are awful, quest branching is very limited which you will soon notice on a second playthrough, all skills except assault weapons become useless late game if you play on anything harder than easy et cetera. and then theres absolutely pointless inventory management like carrying food items because the game has a hunger meter for some retarded reason.
I also want to replay the game. What's the strongest build "lorewise"?
My guess is chemical weapons or psi.
>Stats
>builds
>RPG
Cringe.
Superior game coming through.
make your own build or don't even play
i exclusively play dominating so i get to see all the content, but i set my attributes to 20 each and all the skills i'm not levelling in my build to 165
I loved the setting and the gameplay was okay, but I was really disappointed at how little roleplaying there was. Feels like the story was an afterthought.
>7.62 clone
>superior to anything
Hey anons, I'm going to try the game on dominating.
Any tips?
