Where's empires

Not needed.

Wouldn't even want one at this point due to the paltry amount of character representation and overly narrow focus on a few regions.

It's good tho

Wonder if, after they release SW6 and SW7 to conclude this new three-part story, they'll do a Chronicles game featuring this cast, from the main cast to the supporting cast.

I just want my Ginchiyo back and hopefully as good as she was in SW2. If they turn her into another Mitsuhide clone like half the cast in SW5 is I'm gonna riot.

You both know it's coming along with XL

Didn't they intend to create a richer narrative hence the focus on central japan? Though I have to admit, if that's what they intended then they surely failed

It's just about Nobunaga's beginning and end so it's focused on the central area of Japan and the people involved with him or his subordinates during that particular time period. A good amount of the old cast are gone as either they weren't involved in events in that particular time or Koei just didn't bother adding them (like Ranmaru of all people is missing).

What's the best/most recent version of Empires playable on PC?

Attached: 1642461533773.jpg (1024x768, 67.39K)

There's like 2. DW8:E and 9:E.
9 is a flaming trainwreck and 8 is inferior to 7 which was inferior to 5 so pick your poison.

Despite SW4:E being a decent Empires it was never ported to PC for some reason.

With nobunaga long reign it's perfectly reasonable for an entire game to be focused on him. But how do you create a game that's focused on hideyoshi? Sure we can cover his unification up through odawara but I don't think it will have the same length of SW 5. Shizugatake, komaki-nagakute, shikoku, kyushu, and odawara. Those were his major campaign in japan, it'd be a different story if they have the guts to include their invasion of korea. Otherwise, it'd be more logical to combine hideyoshi and ieyasu's story into 1 game

I have a feeling Ginchiyo would have the Odachi as her preferred moveset.

>they gave her oichi's sw5 weapon

If I hated Nioh 2's representation of Nobunaga and raged at Hide forgiving Mitsuhide, will I enjoy SW5?

Thanks user. I'll give 8 a shot.

Odachi, as in Nobunaga and Kenshin's weapon.

That said, I actually like the various Katana movesets due to how different a simple change makes it feel.

>hated Nioh 2's representation of Nobunaga
what? he's just like the typical nip depictiom of nobunaga for me

In the early game nobunaga's different, but in the later parts he became the edgy nobu we all know

Also, personal SW5 tier list. I might have to update it though.

>Nobunaga's start of darkness and extreme brutality was because Magoichi missed his shot and killed Noh instead
>and it all the bad shit in the latter half the story is the cause of ONE manipulator (and it's not Matsunaga).

Story mode started out so good too.

He didn't do anything. He was in like 2 cut scenes and then he dies. Nioh 2 was sold to me as being about Nobunaga but they treated him so poorly. You don't even see him die and you don't even get to fight vampire lord Nobunaga again from Nioh 1. Then Hide defends his murderer, like, wtf? Almost made me drop the game until the monke kino arc started.

Does he get the standard Nobunaga design that Koei uses in all their games or does he have that young look all throughout but with the edge lord persona?

Can we get back to having the sanadas as the main character? Spirit of sanada was kino. I was excited when they said that sw 5 is going to be like SoS but alas...

DESU I actually liked that part.

Also, in terms of the manipulator is implied to be Momochi early on if you went through the Mitsuhide story as you unlocked it too.

There's an adult version of Nobunaga and Mitsuhide that are unlocked when you start Chapter 5. Both unlocks bring with them some conventional upgrades to them too.

He visibly ages and gets more edgy, same with Mitsuhide.
They're also the only ones that age as Koei's lazy.

He's younger at first only after nagashino di he return to the demon king design

>Nioh 2 was sold to me as being about Nobunaga but they treated him so poorly.
Because the story is about Hide and Tokichiro. Team Ninja seems don't want to do anything with him in this game and settles for monke arc instead.
>Then Hide defends his murderer, like, wtf? Almost made me drop the game until the monke kino arc started.
Because he already showed up Nioh 1, killing him in Nioh 2 the prequel won't make any sense.

What's even the purpose of nakamura and kuroda

Adult Nobunaga in SW5 is probably my favorite Nobunaga design in the series

Attached: nobunaga.png (1509x1666, 808.1K)

>Because the story is about Hide and Tokichiro. Team Ninja seems don't want to do anything with him in this game and settles for monke arc instead.
And that stuff was great. I just think they massively skimmed over the beginning of their careers and dealt with the Nobunaga arc extremely poorly.

>Because he already showed up Nioh 1, killing him in Nioh 2 the prequel won't make any sense.
I know he shows up, but there is a dozen different ways they could have handled it other than Hide having Mitsuhide at sword point and deciding to let him go. The laziest option would just have Mitsuhide go straight into hiding and Hide be unable to track him down because Tokichiro stirring shit up becomes more important.

Ok, buying it now.

literally just to give mitsuhide people to fight at yamazaki, since hideyoshi's other retainers are kids at that point

nakamura is a weird choice though, they could have just used nene

They're in the game to be hideyoshi's supporter, anyway hisahide is the one with the most questionable role. He was fine being the villainous dork in SW4, but he is bland in sw5

samurai warriors 5's aversion to helmets really annoys me; what is this weird visor thing shikanosuke's got, where are the antlers/crescent moon

I miss his previous games' personality though, the new one isn't close to being as bemused, nihilistic and having a deadpan sense of humor like the OG Nobu.

>The laziest option would just have Mitsuhide go straight into hiding and Hide be unable to track him down because Tokichiro stirring shit up becomes more important.
Yeah that would be the good option, but they need him as Tenkai, one of your allies, to defeat Tokichiro,

I wonder if Korea-Japan relations will ever be good enough before I die so that I can play as Yi Sun-Shin in a Musou game

Good god, Shikanosuke's design is fucking horrendous.

forgot pic, just like they forgot helmets

Attached: shikanosuke.png (1509x1666, 1.71M)

Kuroda has the moment where he's captured and held imprisoned during Nobunaga's age, and Nakamura serves to introduced Mitsuki and be someone who can be around for the rest of Hideyoshi's fights.

In my opinion it lacks flairs. This game isn't directed towards history buffs only you know. Though wished they could have somehow redesign the helmets into something fashionable

sw5 did some things with characters that i'm not a fan of
>oichi is back to being a kid
>hisahide isnt bombastic
>noh is bland
noh is the worst honestly, but there are others too

The only way I can see it happening is if koei depicts the japanese as an evil invader with the protagonist changing to YSS during the invasion storyline. They could also name the chapter, the defense of the homeland ir something. Though if they did that, the ones getting angry will be the nihonjeans instead

Yes. I want Kosugi Nobunaga back.

I kinda like his more reserved personality; less "EVIIIIL" and more "I'm wicked cultured."

Fujo market, the designs in this game look like some proof of concept before they moved on to Touken Ranbu Musou.

Forgot tadakatsu there user. Making tadakatsu a reckless youth was one of the biggest mistake of SW5, at least they did yoshimoto justice this time around

Oichi is not only back to being a kid but they turned Shibata into a wimp. Where's that fierce warrior from the previous games? Not here where he's basically nothing but her bodyguard the entire story. Hell him and Toshiie barely interact.

I think Koei made vague references to the invasions in Nioh, and even in SW they've referenced Hideyoshi's more nasty stuff, like what he did to his nephew hidetsugu

frankly its probably a waste of money to make unique korean assets while risking nationalist furor

Did we need him as Tenkai though? He could have been cut out entirely after Honnoji and nothing would have changed. Just change the ally to someone else, I dunno, the bath house lady or something.

They have to appeal to the fujos. That looks pretty gay but when I think of musous and helmets I just think of Xiahou Ba's stupid batman helmet and that's an improvement.

Its actually pretty bizarre that Shibata literally betrays Nobunaga to go with Oichi to Nagamasa. What a bizarre choice. SW2 Katsuie actually had a pretty cool rapport with Nobunaga despite their personalities being so different

Top 5 favorite SW5 characters? For me, it's:
>Nobunaga Oda
>Kanbei Kuroda
>Yoshimoto Imagawa
>Hisahide Matsunaga
>Ieyasu Tokugawa

Holy crap, tadakatsu and ieyasu looking younger than ieyasu's son in that ine extra chapter had me scratching ny head

Tadakatsu is such a non-character in this. Even worse that he's a clone of Toshiie in both moveset and almost in personality too.

>Did we need him as Tenkai though?
He also helps William in Nioh 1 and holder of Genbu GS.

Also, where's masayuki in this? They gave katsuyori screentime but no sanada representation?

Tadakatsu actually has an easier time maintaining combo count than both of the other Great Spear users, much like how you don't want to take to the air as Nagamasa but keep to the ground compared to the other Katana users.

Not as worse as takakage bangs lol

Yeah, I know, but my problem isn't that he lives. Its that Hide spares him. You could have Hide chasing him and then he falls off a cliff and goes into a coma or something, anything than have one of Nobunaga's loyal retainers forgive Nobunaga's murderer. Above all else, since Hide is the player character, its tantamount to having the player forgive Mitsuhide. And that's something I won't do.

Oh well, SW5 is going to let me punish that little faggot, right?

Well yes but actually no. Though I would have to go into spoilers territory for that one

Don't know why you have a grudge for him. He's so non-descript and lack of depth for me that either sparring or killing him changes nothing. He's reason for killing nobunaga is too silly.

Katsuyori and Motonobu already fill the Takeda faction plus Takeda themselves no longer needs to be used as a launch board for Sanada can members.
Yes, Battle of Yamazaki exists in both Akechi and Hashiba variants, and the Hashiba one can be accessed through completing Mitsuhide's story + completing the prior Hashiba side stories in Nobunaga's story.

Again, its less about Mitsuhide and more that Hide forgives him and lets him go. I don't like that forced characterization that makes no sense. And yeah, he's non-descript and has no depth, that's a huge problem with the entire Nobunaga arc of Nioh 2. Barely anything fucking happens. You don't see Nobunaga do any evil shit really, so him being killed and Hide being ok with it makes no sense. From the player perspective, Nobunaga did nothing wrong and Mitsuhide just gets away with being a dick for no reason other than a vague "he was manipulated by Otakemaru" vibe.

But whatever, this is a SW thread, not a Nioh thread and I don't want to keep repeating the same point over and over again for a game that is only tangentially related.

Since he would have only been in one battle (Mikatagahara) and didn't do anything important during that time they probably decided just to leave him out.

Oh yeah, before I go, since SW5 is still downloading, hows the officer AI in this game? I really loved the reworked officer combat in Age of Calamity but without the time management and keeps, I thought it was really dull. I barely played SW4 but iirc it was mostly the same as DW8 and the officers in that game were just a chore to fight, always blocking and super armoring through my attacks. Did they carry over the improved combat mechanics that the spin offs had for officer fights?

THE SAMURAI WARRIORS GAMES HAVE BETTER MUSIC THAN THE DYNASTY WARRIORS GAMES

There I said it

Actually agree. Holy shit does the SW music rock!

Both are worse than warriors orochi

They essentially roll over and play dead for you unless you are playing Nightmare difficulty which you have to unlock. Then they roll over and play dead for you but their occasional pokes will almost kill you. Peons just fucking stand there and let you mow them down most of the time which is really frustrating.

Warriors orochi 4 has awful fucking music though

So like DW9 officers? I'll take that over getting super armored trying to do my C5 and dying like in 8. I had a lot of fun getting 3 wind bags and a wind elemental weapon and pretending I was playing DMC in DW9.

Oh and the hyper armor generals only have difficulty because they don't flinch and do that "one poke and you're dead" shit like OG Lu Bu.

Anyone with a projectile can be annoying little fucks if you let them hit you.

oh, nvm, so its annoying shit again. oh well, i'll deal with it.

Par for the course, should be used to it by now.
Frankly I'll take this shit over the frankly tiring break gauge nonsense of the Hyrule Warriors games.

Great red spirit and welcome to china proves otherwise

Note that powerful enemy officers will signal when they're going to do one of their more devastating attacks (you'll usually see a red outline on the ground which indicates where you need to not be). If you can use an Ultimate Skill though, you can interrupt them and keep on fighting.

Nah.
Takes a lot to dethrone, DW3, 4, and 6's music and no SW's music has done that yet.

I do loves me some SW2:XL Komaki-Nagakute music though.

I liked it more than having to switch weapons for man/heaven/earth rock paper scissors. And while I agree about HW1, AoC had really fun officer combat since you had a lot of options instead of just waiting around to counter them after they attacked. I was just hoping that since SW5 came out around the same time as HW2 and P5S that they'd take some combat cues from those games.
