I posted this before figuring out what was going on in the thread. Didn’t know they were posting their confessions.
WoW was an RTS first by legendary RTS game studio. They were trying to get a piece of the pie from EverQuest and Dark Age of Camelot at the time. They wouldn’t have known how to make an action dark souls Warcraft. But over time I hope they will.

When I played WoW, what I really wanted was a game like Dark Souls. Essentially, an action game that relied more on mechanical skill than purely numbers and stats. When Dark Souls came out I was on a huge hiatus from WoW (hadn't played it in almost a year) and basically after playing Dark Souls, I would never go back to WoW (except briefly for WoW Classic's release). Dark Souls was the game I truly craved.
