Why is Pac-Man so much less popular despite being more well-known?
Cameron Rivera
Leo Reed
Look, I'm glad Klonoa is getting a second shot at flopping but don't delude yourself.
Jeremiah Robinson
make him more anime
Sebastian Reed
Guess which one people care more about, though. Ever since Ghostly Adventures, Pac-Man has been struggling immensely. Almost nobody talks about him aside from normies who chat about the original arcade game and the CE sequels.
Michael Roberts
Pacman. It's Pacman.
Nathan Harris
What the fuck is that Sonic reject on the right
Brody Thomas
Where's World 4, hm?
Matthew Ward
Sadly, Ms. Pac-Man is being 1984'd all because of legal issues.
Noah Stewart
I admire Klonoa's tenacity.
He simply refuses to die. He keeps coming back.
Even when his games refuse to sell, he comes back years later when you least expect it.
Kayden Jackson
Bait or furfag delusion?
Landon Nelson
Just wait until World 4 happens. If it ever happens.
Parker Wood
no good game since the first champtionship
Kevin Rodriguez
That's the problem, It hasn't happened and doesn't seem like it will happen, Aside from how many times Namco keeps blueballing fans but not giving them what they want.
Literally Sonic Team-like incompetency.
Charles Cooper
yes
Adam Scott
Because you're in the weeb/furfag internet nerd bubble where people actually know what a klonoa even is. In that bubble klonoa feels more popular because nobody inside or outside of that bubble really gives a shit about pacman anymore
Asher Ortiz
oh...oh wow...
Zachary Robinson
klonoa is baseder and fags need to stop coping about pacman world, western developed thefore inferior by default
Logan Gomez
rule 34 is a mysterious mistress
Robert Murphy
If it's inferior why did it outsell the entire Klonoa franchise
Grayson Young
Didn't expect this to turn xenophobic...
Hunter Gonzalez
To answer this question, It's because Klonoa struggled in the west but was more successful in Japan, Pac-Man World was the inverse, as it was popular overseas but Japan didn't care for it. Presumably because they don't like 3D platformers in general. Pac-Man was always more popular in the west than Japan to begin with, that's why the original arcade game took off in the first place and how it became a worldwide phenomenon.
A lot of people really underestimate how a lot of these Japanese companies make their cash from overseas and western sales.
Hudson Rodriguez
Even on the week the switch ports were announced that was not true.
Logan Walker
>not being a xenophobe
kys
Nicholas Clark
i like pac-man
Nathan Parker
fortnite is superior because its more popular
Robert Foster
Pac-Man is well-known, but not popular. All those google trends come from normies and boomers who only played the original arcade game and nothing more. Likely people who aren't even aware the games are an actual franchise at all either.
Justin Cruz
hes a fucking circle that eats what do you expect
Michael Anderson
and it still references Pac-Man in one of its skins
Minecraft is the best-selling game of all time and had a Pac-Man crossover
James Allen
Hate to break it to you but Klonoa isn't as well known or as popular as Pac Man, in fact I don't think Klonoa is that well known at all.
Jace Perez
Once again: Normies and the original arcade game.
This about as low-hanging fruit as media constantly referencing Mario 1 or Sonic 1 in particular when they mention or make a shout-out to a franchise.
Sebastian Hernandez
In the same trash bin with Klonoa 3.
David Hernandez
meanwhile Klonoa gets nothing
Brody Lewis
Ethan Wilson
He hasn't really come back.
the comic was a failure and got axed
the movie was cancelled.
and these ports are cheap shitty "remasters" made by incompetent nobody devs that look way worse than the original ps2 and wii games and are downright insulting to the original artists.
Easton Anderson
Klonoa 1 and 2 are still held in high regard and people are at least glad it’s not being given a shitty upscale treatment like Mario 3D All-Stars.
Meanwhile, The Pac-Man World games are aging and people are giving them unnecessary retroactive revisionist shit much like the Sonic Adventure games.
Charles Roberts
>Klonoa 1 and 2 are still held in high regard
Julian Young
Being well-known and iconic doesn’t automatically make you popular. Sonic is well-known, but his games have been crap for the past decade save for Sonic Mania and Generations.
Jace Jones
i have a feeling the "klonoafags" punching up at pac man in this thread aren't actual klonoafags
Evan Collins
I like both franchises, It’s just Pac-Man has been dead ever since Ghostly Adventures tanked his reputation.
I just want World 4, man.
Charles Harris
Klonoa 2 has a 91 on Metacritic
Chase Walker
>Pacman being less popular than Klonoa that only ever has gotten attention recently before being shelved once again as proven by history
Everyone knows Pacman, but even then he's a mainstay of gaming culture and world's memory. It's literally just like Tetris.
Klonoa is just like any other scrimbo that its fanbase adores, but as soon they're put out into mainstream attention, they'll get everyone remembering them and forgetting them after few months of time. It's just literally like Spyro.
OP is literally on copuim.
Zachary Williams
unironically NO they would have been much better if it was just upscaled textures and higher poly changes. Instead of drooling retards removing all the shading, displacement and specular maps, breaking the animations and lipsync and smothering everything in horrible bloom. The only thing wrong with Klonoa 2 is that highest quality models aren't displayed when the camera is far away. get rid of that shitty optimisation and the art is perfect and timeless.
Joshua Brooks
Friendly reminder that Sonic isn’t even in Sega’s top 3 selling anymore. m.youtube.com
Christian Wood
I think it would be fair to say Klonoa is as popular as Pac-Man in the world of gamers. Yeah, every normie knows Pac-Man. But theyre not replaying Pac-Man games and salivating for a new one.
Joshua Green
I'm sure all 50 people that actually played the game care very much
Jaxon Robinson
Someone can’t read lol
Kevin Reyes
Namco > Sega
Caleb Long
>football manager
LOL what the fuck. Surely sonic has to still be more fun than that shit.
Landon Nguyen
Bro, people keep saying the PMW look outright ugly today, much like the Sonic Adventure games. But I strongly disagree with both claims despite their age and weaker hardware.
Tyler Hill
>this fucking faggot again
did pac-man rape your mother as a child
why do you keep making threads about this
Ryder Barnes
gamers don't know Klonoa either, he is exclusively the choice of hipsters
Colton Parker
Persona basically is all the rage for Sega these days online, Yeah it’s by ATLUS but Sega owns them.
Logan Stewart
>Guess which one people care more about, though
Pacman
Jayden Taylor
Look at the views.
David Torres
Pac-Man is not a flexible or interesting concept, every situation you put him in feels like a weird contrivance in a way other mascots don't really have a problem doing
I never played Klonoa so I don't know what he does better if anything, but I always read the Klonoa series having stories/characters people at least like, which is more than Pac-man ever had
Isaiah Cooper
>OP is so fucking bored he wants to argue over which rotting carcass stinks less
Zachary Ross
>8.8m subs
>less than 1m subs
Klonoa didn't even get acknowledged in Smash, give it up
John Foster
Pac-Man was meant to be a versatile cartoony mascot from the start, much like Mario. The issue is, they’ve thrown out the lore that worked and attempted to reboot the franchise with some tween-pandering cringe shit which blew up in their faces.
It’s like if Sega suddenly made Sonic a high school student.
Gabriel Brown
People I know forget Pac-Man is even Smash these days because his material and representation in the game sucks. lol
Kevin Rodriguez
>lore
>pac-man
lol
Asher Morales
People forget Ridley is in despite the insane clamor, Ultimate's roster is unironically too big
Josiah Hall
Isn't Pac-Man still getting completely new games? Klonoa hasn't had one since 2002 and the last thing he got was a horrendous butchering of the first game.
Liam Sanders
Well both games have something in common. Plagiarised Disney songs.

Owen Miller
It had lore the same way Mario had lore. Simplistic but versatile and lacked the alternate timelines, egregious retcons and whatnot like Mega Man or Sonic.
Granted, Nintendo was retarded and retconned the Paper Mario games to their own universe back in the Wii U era. So nothing perfect lasts, sadly.
Anthony Martin
Klonoa and Pac-Man both share one thing in common:
They are owned by Namco, and Namco is notoriously bad at marketing.
I mean, look at this Klonoa ad. What the fuck?
Pac-Man had just about as much mistreatment by Namco marketing as Klonoa. But at least I remember actual commercials for Pac-Man World back in the day. There weren't even commercials for Klonoa until the Wii remake that flopped horribly.
Christian Baker
He’s had nothing but shovelware mobile games and generic arcade re-releases since 2015. lol
The last major release was Ghostly Adventures 2, sadly. (Which was tied to the cringe continuity reboot people hated)
Connor Morales
>Pac-Man rips off Felix the Cat
>Klonoa is just a recolored Sonic with Pac-Man stapled to his head
It's kind of sad, really.
Bentley Thomas
the last original pac man game we got was championship edition 2 back in 2016
not anything to brag about but it's better than whatever the fuck is going on by klonoa
