Diablo draws heavily from Roguelike and Dungeon Crawler traditions, and was originally going to be turn based.
It spawned its own little subgenre called Diabloclone.
Diabloclones might be lumped into ARPGs as a whole these days but the comparison isn't a fruitful one.

d2 has a simple system that is more fun to play than poe does. the atmosphere is also better.

POE and Diablo are Action Isometric RPGs.
Nioh/DS are Action 3rd person RPGs
2 completely different genres.

They're both dungeon crawlers. That's about it though.

Played many many many hours of Diablo 1, many more of diablo 2. Thousands of hours of path of exile, and probably hundreds of Titan quest. And dozens of hours in other diabloclones that don't even need to be mentioned.
Having played Diablo 1 recently I must say that despite it's problems and thinks that didn't age well, it's still so much better than it's sequel and it's copies just because of atmosphere and imertion.
And as far as diabloclones go I have to say Titan Quest + immortal throne is still the undisputed best.

I feel this way about FPSes, MOBAs, and collectathons.
