What are NFTs and why everyone seems to be against it?
It's the donut guy
trying to turn jpegs into crytocurrency essentially.
not even good jpegs.
Huh?
They're like CS:GO's skin system but for monkey pictures and 1000000x the processing power needed to maintain it.
lost the money and respect
im not a crypto guy so excuse me if my explanation is dogshit
imagine having a uniquely identifiable code: this is what an NFT is. Non-fungible means it cant be substituted or copied etc
these codes can be linked to images. Scam artists try to sell the idea that the images are somehow related to the unique code, when they just really arent and anyone could just copy the image if they wanted to because the code doesnt give you anything related to the image: it's just associated with it
it's like if i wrote google on a sticky note and tried to convince you that by buying it, you somehow owned google, or a share of google
it also chugs energy like a mofo
tl;dr bad for environment scam
Good blender tutorial
in short its just virtual receipt
God this cunt needs to fuck off
Why the industry entered into this NFT crazyness?
It seems like they're doing their best to loot the players with the stuff they never asked.
Not even to mask to people with stuff they didn't even know they wanted, just a way to literally sell overpriced jpgs with the promise of re-selling for 100x the original price.
A receipt which, thanks to blockchain limitations, can't carry an actual asset. Not a 50MB model, not even a 400KB jpeg
That NFT you bought is a URL to an image. On a host that can change or delete that url at any time.
Funny how all the NFT talk disappeared like straight away. It was all the craze like 2 months ago, people talk about it all the time and then.. silence.
>Why the industry entered into this NFT crazyness?
Not hard to figure out
>Be boomer Goldstein CEO of hedge fund that owns publishers
>Hear about this thing where people buy jpegs for $50,000 because retards exist
>Know your gamer audience is even more retarded than them
>Expect this to print free money
>What if $6.99 player skin except it's $69,999.99?
You don't understand why the jews did this?
False. A receipt is a proof of purchase for an actual item. An NFT is the receipt itself, by itself. There is no item attached to it.
To try and trick investors
I'm the samefag here What are the implications of someone using a pic with the code that someone else own? Will the owner be able to sue them by copyright infringement or something? Because if it's not the case, NFT will look even more useless than how it is today.
You don't own any copyrights with nfts unless the owner sells it with the nft.
Can we just kill the people involved with the monkey NFTs?
imagine gacha but people are trying to pretend it's not retarded
So it's even worse than I was thinking.
Not even for money laundering this shit is useful.
i'm pretty non fuckable myself
i think the main guy making monkey nfts ran off with the bag
i cant hold it against him for scamming so many wall st wannabes out of their life savings though, his racket was pretty impressive
They'd rather come up with a zillion fly-by-night schemes to filch pennies than stop spending 90% of a game's budget on marketing bullshit.
>Hey these retards are making millions by selling literally nothing to people
>We should do that in our games as well
It's like cosmetics but even less work
>win/win crowdsourced incestment with returns
its like when /biz/ gets agitated and starts making word soup out of economics jargon that doesnt mean anything. They're all the same kind of retard
my fav part of this NFT shit is when video game companies start combining them with lootbox
so instead of just pay to get exactly this useless thing that you not really own or do anything, you will gamble to potentially
that was chef kiss level of bullshittery
Give it enough time and they're kill themselves off anyways
Gotta respect the hustle. Retards throwing their life savings away on obvious fucking scams should be caged.
But that's no different than Gacha
>dumbshit falls for the nft meme
>looses his money
a sucker born every second
You get a virtual receipt and you can resell it to some other idiot provided you can make him think it has value. For practical reasons this is usually tied to a picture, but that picture is worthless.
People like to think this will be useful for gaming but the only use it would have is to make the devs richer.
>ubisoft announced nfts saying they will be able to transfer to any future nft game
>sold like shit
>game shut down
>says there are plans for more nft games but any old nfts you buy do not carry over to new games
so its just dlc that cost a lot more and even worse?
Basically it's independently verifiable digital ownership using the same basis as cryptocurrencies. The problem is that it's a solution looking for a problem, there's no reason why ownership of digital goods needs to be independently verifiable as the only use case for digital goods is that the person you bought them from needs to verify your ownership (e.g. a software license) so they're basically being used right now as another form of crypto currency.
but gacha is retarded
>reading comprehension
no one will buy your NFTs
also i'm punching a cow as we speak
Imagine rare pepes but
Literally who is that?
No see if you hold the bag then we can give them to our employees and you can make money! Just pay us first and don't forget that we can shut it down and decide what you get with your nft.
>For practical reasons this is usually tied to a picture, but that picture is worthless.
Need to add into the fact that this usually mean tied into a link that point to a picture, if the link die then you got nothing really
normies trying to make anything and everything unique and scarce therefore they can charge 1000x what it's worth
the worst part is that NFTs can't practically store enough information to hold an image, so they actually just hold a link to the image hosted on a server
it effectively defeats the point of having a decentralized system
There are ways to store an image on a blockchain that aren't just a link to an imgur but it requires effort and a lot of storage space so it's never going to happen outside of maybe 10x10 pixel images
They're basically images you pay for. It's a scam so when someone accidentally saves it you can sue that person for a ridiculous amount of money.
So they price their "NFT"s at 1,000,000 and then they can sue whoever uses it for that much money even though no one gives a fuck about that image.
And no they aren't crypto currency. They're worthless.
why have we went so wrong bro?
all this crazy bullshit about virtual meaningless shit that won't last over physical tangible things in life that actually matter
ted might have went a bit nut with his methods, but his reasoning wasn't wrong..
>so when someone accidentally saves it you can sue that person for a ridiculous amount of money.
what cryptobro facebook pages are you on
>normies
>literally pushed everywhere
>its not the deep state
Do you people actually think things like nigger music get popular on accident?
SCAMBROS WE LOST
>What are NFTs
A pyramid scheme
>why everyone seems to be against it
Because it's a pyramid scheme
>what was gacha, retard
>what was FIFA soccer lootboxes, retard
>what were lootboxes
money laundering/pyramid scheme, the only value is how much you can scam some other retard into paying for it.
I bought CSGO several years go and get my money back several times over selling old ass crates that I don't give a shit about. Does it count as play to earn game?
I would be willing to pay $70-80 per game if there was a law that removed all microtransactions and prevented publishers from putting retarded shit like NFT's in games.
Do people still care about this stuff?
barely which is why NFT prices are in the toilet
Yes. NFTs are just a recurrent pump and dump scheme that people keep falling for.
>Price
>wants everybody’s money
>pay $90 for a game thats only 10% done
>pay $140 for a game that's only 4% done
>pay $2000 for a game that might come out in the future
You are an actual retard. The problem is PUBLIC OWNERSHIP
Corporations are PUBLICLY OWNED. No one gives a shit how they come out as long as they turn a profit so they keep getting shittier and shittier.
We need PRIVATE ownership.
Copyright + Public ownership is fucking us up big time.
No one is allowed to copy + One huge corporation is the only one allowed to make it. Its 100% anti-consumerist, anti-freemarket, anti-capitalist
Lmao well at least he came clean. I figured since he posted his video an hour or two within April fool's day he would have tried to play it off as a joke if it backfired.
>April 25, 2022
Wait it happened AGAIN?
Most people only hate NFTs because they're the new thing they were told to hate
I don't give a shit about NFTs or if people want to sell them, just keep the bullshit out of my games. They're already bloated with enough nonsense
Atheist cocksucker is a retard. Many such cases
Apes and lions are getting hacked literally every fucking day
Smart contracts are almost designed to facilitate scams
Sputtering of a dying corpse. I remember a couple of months ago the shills were out in full force for NFTs, now they're mostly silent. The technology itself has uses, but it's not going to come from shitty "art" and video game item speculation.
yes
Damn I wish I was an unscrupulous madlad.
>it also chugs energy like a mofo
That's the part I don't get. What does the NFT have to do with power consumption? Could it blow out a PSU on a desktop PC, for example?
Because it's a pyramid scheme. NFTs are probably one of the most transparent pyramid schemes in modern memory. They don't even dress up a business angle or anything, they literally tell you to buy a jpeg and then tell you to evangelize to everyone you know because if you get more sold then the value of yours can ONLY GO UP, BRO
>Spend $65,000 on a heckin based looking ape
>It points to a tinypic url
Making people pay $90 for a game will force people to be more selective about their games, I'm not advocating for raising the price but when 99% of people make enough to cover the cost of buying a shitty game with less than a day of work it makes them more likely to make an uninformed purchase. This is why games like Battlefield 2042 and New World sold extremely well despite losing their entire playerbase in a month.
fuck all this virtual useless
now, i have some actual physical dolls that have been sitting on my dad's attic for 2 decades, who want to get on it before this blew up?
pm me for details and price
NFTs use a lot of power because whenever you do a transaction on the block chain thosands of rigs do a little contest to decide which ones gets to actually facilitate it
> What does the NFT have to do with power consumption?
Use similar tech like crypto aka it is put on the block chain
NFTs are just DLC with extra steps.
Meanwhile in Australia new physical console games can be up to 125AUD (~90USD)
imagine being a console owner in 2022
Its like going to mcdonalds and buying a picture of a burger instead of the burger
