I agree, they are. It's the complete disconnect between him treating the players like shit, and the players worshipping him, that gets me. It's a common part of the narrative that the devs for this game treat players well.

Jobs are too similar. If you are strong, then weak players will cause raids to be much more troublesome than they should be. Story is designed to cater to commune-type life. Later expansions negate earlier stories meaning. Many players have strange mixture of pride and incompetence.

Played the game in the 2.0 era, and then played Heavensward when it was new. Haven’t played it since. The community is cancer.

Maybe it’s a problem with the Gilgamesh server since it has a high population, meaning more retards per capita. It got to the point where I never uttered a word while playing. 2.0 was bad enough, but then they introduced weddings and housing and it got so much worse. It’s one of the worst multiplayer experiences I’ve ever suffered through, and I’m sure it has only gotten worse. Like the fan art, though.

the story sucks and the leveling isn't good, it's literally teleporting from point a to point b the entire time. Vanilla WoW and FFXI both have 1000x better leveling experiences.

It's not a critique of FFXIV but more of MMOs in general.
I had to avoid playing any theme park MMO because my desire to min/max ruins my enjoyment of the game. I rush through everything, I skip all the quest text and cutscenes, I absolutely seethe any time I don't cap my weekly currencies and shit. I just turn into an autistic retard.
I wish there was an MMO for me where I could log in and enjoy for a week and take a week off and then come back and feel like I haven't missed out on anything. But I understand that MMOs just aren't for me anymore.
If there has anyone that has gone from an end-game raider to a casual player, please tell me how you did it. I don't care about world firsts or anything and I'm not even interested in end game content anymore. But for whatever reason, my brain still is when I'm playing.

Netcode is trash.
The entire game is some ungodly mess of spaghetti code, to the point where they had to remove belt slot to increase armory chest capacity for rings and weapons.
Encounter design hampered by paresetroons.
Shit animation lock which causes some jobs to be borderline unplayable at higher ping (if you're playing US servers from EU or vice versa for example) unless you're using literal cheat plugins.
Due to certain policies a lot of people are just as huge ego bloated ellitist niggers as in most other mmo's, except they can't directly shittalk someone for bad performance so it's all passive aggressive bullshit.
Lots of idiotic "performance" optimisations such as cutting cities and zones into pieces due to gonzole heritage, and specifically:
Most armor models don't have a tail slot which is literally a crime against humanity.

Pugging ultimates might be faster. This is what I did and I got clears before the people I knew who were in statics. Old ultimates are much easier now.

Bozja completely unplayable, 3 person DRs are not feasable
New EX is lame compared to Hades, Shinryu or Ellidibussy
PVP needs a balance look over. Its not as bad as bronze shitters think it is, but certain things like GNB being stunned out of LB or CC being half the cd of Purify need to be changed. SAM is actually balanced and they should ignore anyone who says its not and I don't even play SAM.
Housing only lets me put 400 items in my mansion, it should be at least 500.

I suppose if you compare it to modern WoW now you see people heavily preferring FF14 but outside of that people talk about many of it's messy aspects all the time.
