Because YouTubers are absolute whores for sponsorships

Something like this would be nice for rhythm games

This specific brand or hitboxes?
If the former, then it's merely sponsorship; else it's bandwagoning since a few high-profile fighting game pros use them.

The fuck is this?

Only because technically it's faster than using a traditional lever, but it's always preference no matter what people tell you. What they won't tell you is that learning hitbox is actually pretty hard.

so they can sell a $10 keyboard with less button for $200

The same reason we having a bunch of sticks on keyboards instead of individual keys.
Performing actions with your digits is objectively better than moving a stick around.

What advantage does an arcade stick have over a dpad? I understand just liking the tactility of a stick, but a dpad is just more efficient and has less travel time than a stick

motion inputs are easier and more precise because the lever is just bigger
thats about it

they're toptier

it's fun. also nobody wants to talk about this but hitbox and button only sticks will fuck your hands evetually

>hitbox and button only sticks will fuck your hands evetually
only if you rest your wrists on the them

Is this good for 1 handed use with a mouse in your primary hand

Best way to play tekken

how long has the hitbox been out and still no one has won anything significant with it?
it's an unintuitive carpel tunnel syndrome box, shitty 2p side inputs, wave dash worse than stick in tekken, 360 inputs lmao and it's for scrubs that think they're controller is holding them back.

It's better for competitive and if a pro can use it normies should be able to obey.
I think it has poor design

it's unironically pretty fun
but if you want real advantages I think one of the main ones is the ability to do circle motions without jumping
there's also the fact that quarter circles can be done insanely fast since the motion is done with two independent fingers as opposed to having to move your whole hand or wrist to do one

Discuss

Depends where you buy your Hitbox.

theyre more precise in general. getting to hit spring loaded buttons with 5 fingers instead of shitty membrane ones with only your thumb and index is kinda major too. that said most modern fighting games dont require a level of execution where it makes a difference. you could probably play sfv at a high level on a guitar hero controller if you put the practice in.

having all your buttons in a row instead of using triggers is much better for doing things like plinking or playing zato

not much to discuss, keyboard = hitbox > stick > pad (from an objective point of view. u might find some of them comfier than others however)

console tards are just starting to figure out the keyboard is the best controller.

I've been using various Hitbox-style controllers - the original one, customs on Sanwas, MPress (uses Cherry Red switches) and Snackbox for over 10 years now and Snackbox's Kaihl microswitches felt unironically the best - they're very low profile which lets you be extremely fast and precise with your inputs and everything just feels so, so smooth to play.
BUT the overall ergonomics of that particular controller SUCKS BALLS. It's way too small, too light, additional buttons (Home, Share etc) are borderline unusable and these 3D printed caps have overall mediocre to poor quality

inferior to stick

I bet you literally stink like shit.

What are the best buttons between orginal Sanwa and Crown 202?

>3d printed shit
no thanks

Sponsorship
You can just use a keyboard but the buttons feel pretty nice.
Not sure what games I'd play with a hitbox/arcade sticks other than fighting games so I never got a new one after that datel arcade stick I got for 30€ died

>Performing actions with your digits is objectively better than moving a stick around.
Depends what you want to do.
Digits are awful for 3D movement which is why analog sticks became a thing

they need to shill hard to overcome an industry well stablished for several years (sanwa and spanish joystick makers)

I only ever used Sanwas, Seimitsu and Hori's Kuro buttons. It's somewhat a matter of preference - Seimitsu ones click and require more weight to engage, Sanwas and Kuro are very light. For me personally Sanwas were always the best ones, Kuros felt fine overall, maybe a bit to loose (hard to describe it) but overall very similar, I never liked Seimitsus.

Never used korean buttons, I used korean levers (Crown 309MJ) and for me it's a meme lever that only Tekken tryhards are using, it requires way too much strength to actually use properly, I want to play the game not arm wrestle.

ok thanks, do you know how long does Sanwa buttons last? Durability?

>Digits are awful for 3D movement which is why analog sticks became a thing
This would be true if games had no acceleration or you can't control the POV. Since this is incredible rare its not a problem.

>he doesn’t use sponsorblock

>he doesn't get the point

>This would be true
What the fuck are you talking about, it is true.
Using digits for 3d movement is awful. It works for FPS games because the mouse compensates a lot.

Look at SM64, playing that game with digital input is just awful

I've been using one set of Sanwas with my personal custom hitbox for way over 6 years and only after that time some buttons started to show any wear. You just have to remember to dismantle the buttons (very easy and safe to do) and clean them on the inside from time to time as they accumulate sweat and dead skin cells overtime. This is basically the most common reason why "mah buttons stop working", I never really had a microswitch in a pushbutton die on me, these things LAST LONG.

>no stick
whats the point?

Its due to a surge in indie workshops cranking out their own version of the hitbox. Lot of shilling from different people vs the current glut in current generation commercial fighsticks. We'll likely see new sticks in 2023 with SF6 and Project L.

They're much easier for an enthusiast to create and sell cause they're basically keyboards, compared to making a fightstick where they'd have to buy commercial levers or have their own bespoke lever (lol). They're pretty cool and I own an official hitbox, but fightstick is still the way to go for me

>no stick
That's the point

so if I have only played fighting games on a keyboard I should get one of these instead of a traditional stick?

I had zero arcade experience and ended up preferring stick over hitbox, having started playing on pad. Honestly just depends on the person in my opinion, you won't play better on either after you get used to the control scheme. If you think stick is cool, go stick. Otherwise I'd just stick with keyboard or hitbox since you're used to it.

>how long has the hitbox been out and still no one has won anything significant with it?
Didn't a hitbox user win CPT this year?

There is no point. You block the sponsorships and this thread wouldn’t even exist

I got mine the other day. I like it as something compact. Gonna try the LBX and see how it goes compared to a Frame1.

Re-read my post you fucking mong.

I can be way more precise on a stick with a square gate. I almost never accidentally jump on stick but it happens on d-pad. I also find charge characters awful on pad

Thoughts on the CrossUp? I watched the review on it from Diaphone and the dude just uses it like a regular stick. He did mention you can tbag way faster on it though which is a bit of a laugh

Attached: XU_-_Comparrson.jpg (3840x2160, 315.16K)

I don't know how people play for long periods on dpad, shit really hurts my thumb after a while. I can play for ages with stick and almost as long with hitbox too

cool hardware, shit aesthetic

>Tunomaki

how can you even use the dpad while your fingers are stradling the keys?

It's actually kind of fucked up for Tekken. Not only does it make difficult execution like EWGF easy as hell, but it lets you sidestep into the foreground which you can't physically do on a regular controller.

youtube.com/watch?v=lJ6rwxTiv4k
here's a breakdown if you're interested

Oh so that's why JDCR was shilling the CrossUp? I don't play 3D so it's not so relevant for me

Custom building your own controller is the only way to play rhythm games.

the dualsense d-pad is so bad for fighting games
too mushy for them and way too hard to hit diagonals

Further proving traditional controllers are fucking trash and keyboards were always superior

has any game or tournament denounced hitboxes?

Just autistic people online.

isnt this cheating?

I wonder how many hitbox owners have never actually played using a keyboard configuration or even have fucking gaming PCs.
