Currently it's a mostly empty world without enemies, critters, or chests. Some of the NPCs are in place and interactable but the item options don't give you things etc.
No quests.

There's already enough in place for someone to start recording enemy/critter spawns with a hacked client and then implement automatic spawns on the private server using that, but quests and event stuff will probably be a much more manual process.

Reportedly hoyoverse tried breaking a fair bit of the previous protocols with the 2.7 beta but reverted it because it was breaking too much of their own stuff. It will basically be hoyoverse trying to make their newer clients incompatible with the older protocols that the private servers emulate, and the private server devs reverse engineering the newer ones to try and keep up, much like with other live service games.

They might also take measures to make future maps/characters practically unrunnable in modified older clients, but depending on how hard the modding scene goes, we may well be playing Celestia on a modified 2.6 client.

It's not an exploit. All traffic thats supposed to go to mihoyo goes to a private server running on your pc instead. Its just a proxy. I bet the real difficulty was in getting the private server working.

For example, when you type www.google.com you send a request to google or something like that. With a proxy, when you type www.google.com you can send it to a whole different place that returns a whole different result and the receiving end wouldnt know.
